I'm now living in Texas. I moved down here about 2.5 weeks ago. I didn't really have a lot going on for me back in California, and I was offered a fantastic career opportunity here in Austin.

Things are still kind of hectic and I am in the process of getting settled in. I don't start work for another ~2 weeks though, so I intend to spend some of my free time in Apophysis

So I finally got a new computer, and the urge to make fractals is once again upon me. It all started with my GF making a comment that I should make a fractal that fit the color scheme of my new computer.

Over all, I'm really happy with the new system. Core 2 Duo E6600 (which I'm overclocking to 3.4 - 3.6 GHz, depending on my mood and system stability), 2GB of DDR2-1066, GeForce 8800 GTX, and a bunch of hard drive space I'm able to render a fractal in 45 - 90 minutes with my typical settings, where I used to spend 8 - 12 hours.

Since I quit uploading a while ago (jeez... almost a year and a half ago now), I continued to make fractals (though very rarely). I'll probably upload a few of those too. For the mean time, "Talay" is my newest work and I really like how it turned out.

I've been going through a lot of shit lately. "My mind is in a state of overload..." On top of that, I've become very impatient with the long render times on my computer. I haven't touched Apophysis in weeks, and every time I do I seem to be disappointed with what I create.

I'm in sort of a creative funk, I guess. Coupled with not having the patience for 9 hour renders any more, I think I'm going to give up Fractals until I can get my new computer.

I may change my mind. I may get a sudden burst of creativity. We'll see. But I doubt I'm going to do any full renders until I get the new computer, which won't be happening for several months.

So until then - I'll be lurking. Keep up the great work, all of you.

So I moved out of the condo and into a "studio apartment." The "apartment" is more of a mother-in-law room in front of, but not physically attatched to, a house. A number of my friends live in the house, and I have full house priveledges, so it's a very comfortable environment.

I broke up with my fiance a few months back. It was an ugly situation all around. But afterwards, a friend of mine revealed that she had been interested in me for a while. So she and I are together now, and I must say she is making me quite happy.

I never did move to Oregon, though that is still on my agenda. It has simply been placed on the back burner, so to speak. I'm going to be starting a new job at a local computer repair/sales shop here in town. I should start sometime around June 20th, so I'm going to quit the current job around the 13th. During my week off, I plan to go to Reno, NV., to see a few friends.

About a month ago, I joined a band that a few friends of mine had been doing for some time. As I write this, I should be getting some sleep before the practice scheduled for 5 hours from now. The band is False Dawn, a crazy-technical Melodic Death Metal band. We recorded a small demo, which hopefully will be mixed & mastered in the next week. I'm not sure if Deviant Art allows you to post mp3's, but if so I shall post the songs here. If not, I'll simply post some links for download.

In closing, Bakke Brothers Brand "Sweet & Spicy" beef jerky is THE BEST store-bought beef jerky in existance. Period.

I know I have not been too terribly active on Deviant Art lately (or on any IMs, for that matter). But that is because my life has taken a few drastic turns in the past few weeks.

The biggest being that I am now engaged. The lucky lady is Dee, a wonderful girl from England that I met while she was on vacation here in town.

So plans for our mutual future are being hatched, things are being figured out, and an overall good time is being had. This has had quite an impact on my free time, naturally. The wedding, if all goes as planned, should be on May 31st.

Plus, I've been working and hanging out with people a lot lately.

I'll try to update more as time allows.

In other news, it looks like I'll be moving to Oregon around the end of Februrary, or early March.
