after work I go to karate and at the end of class I was promoted to red belt! hells to the yes.

This morning I got the lovely christmas present of having my car towed! Oh, I am pissed. When I got home last night, there were no open spots in my apartment's little lot* so I had to park on the road. Since last night there was an emergency snow removal, my car got hauled off. Luckily I have found a coworker to pick me up and go get it.


This is just one even of many that has made me decide there is now way in hell I'm renting at this place for another year. And I don't want to risk moving into a different apartment where things will be just as crappy. SO. I am thinking of buying a house. There are quite a few around here in various states of fix-me-up around here that I could actually afford.


*My apartment keeps track of the license plate numbers of renter's cars, but they don't seem to care when people park in the lot that aren't supposed to.


Well I hope everyone has a better christmas eve than I do XD

First of all, I got a couple cats a month ago. I luvs them. Tephra Minix is a tortoiseshell, and Aries Orion is black with a little patch of white on her throat. They're both spayed females, about a year old. They weren't litter mates or anything, but they get along quite well, although they love to fight and chase each other around at 4 in the morning.

Secondly, I tore some cartilage in my knee two weeks ago and had surgery last week. I have to be on crutches and in a knee brace for four weeks to let it heal (and there's not even a 100% chance of success due to how the cartilage was torn). So, I have not had a lot of time and energy for art lately since doing things like showering, taking out garbage, even getting in and out of my car take twice as long as usual. It sucks, but I'll live.

WHY DO PEOPLE PUT NOTHING BUT "..." IN THEIR DESCRIPTIONS? ALL OF THEM??

Okay, so I can understand with some works, the artist wants the viewer to come up with their own interpretation--any words they say might alter others' perception of the work. BUT.

When most or all of the descriptions in the gallery consists of "..." or similar, I think that's really saying something about the artist. It's saying they have absolutely nothing to say about their work. Nothing. No mention of the media used if it's traditional, no mentioned of the program used if it's digital, not mention of where or who if it's photography. No inspiration, no explanation (either process or conceptual), no anecdote that goes along with the image. It's like the artist has no attatchment to the image whatsoever; they don't care.

I can say the same for physical galleries. If I'm in a gallery featuring a specific artist, I'll be quite disappointed if I don't at least see some sort of artist's statement.

I know people are guilty of this in galleries outside of DA, but I rarely come across it on, say, Elfwood, or whatever.

1. I have a very hard time drawing in public or with people staring over my shoulder. I become incredibly uncomfortable and self-consious.

2. I don't like showering in the morning. I prefer to shower in the evening.

3. I don't smoke, do drugs, gamble, and I only drink on occasion, but darnit, if I don't have my chapstick with me at all times, there will be problems.

4. I have two alarm clocks and use them both. Sometimes I forget to set one, or set one at the wrong time (PM instead of AM), so that way at least one of them will go off when I want it to.

5. It really bugs me when people are driving and change lanes or make a turn without using their blinker/turn signal.

6. I rarely eat anything but cereal for breakfast. Sometimes poptarts or toaster strudel, but almost always cereal. And I have to change my cereals; if I eat the same one for more than a couple weeks I get sick of it.

It is a crappy thing to open up a snack cup of yogurt, drop it, and splash half its contents all over the floor and wall trim. Not only do you lose a portion of your snack, but now you must clean up a pink mess. Suckage.

I'm tired from work and like everybody else (except, well, give or take a couple people) I don't have a friggen clue what's going on, but seriously, sacking the community's co-founder/creator and then ignoring the flood of protests (well, I suppose deleting certain forum threads and journal posts along with banning users over it isn't exaclty ignoring) is not, IMHO, a great way to run a website. Especially when there is no evidence to prove that said founder is in the wrong.


I've been a member here since late-ish 2002, and while I haven't always been active, I've definitely noticed the shift from 'non-profit site' to 'lets make money oh yea$'. If the people (person?) legally in charge of the site wants to go all Crush Those Who Oppose Us YAY CORPORATE then that's their legal right, but I sure as hell don't approve or support it. Not like my opinion matters much but HEY there it is.


What also pisses me off are the members that don't care, or don't think that it's any of the members' business to care. As an active member of this community, I have every right to care, and not only that, but I had better damn well care. I could go on and on making my case, but the few people that will read this either already care and see things the way I do, or don't care (shame!), so instead I think I'll go to bed seeing as I have to work tomorrow morning.
