I'm presently feeling like crap as I write this. Caught the viral infection Deb's got about a week ago. For me it started on Friday at work. The rain all day of course didn't help. Had cold chills on and off, a nose that ran ALL day, almost constantly, and had a migrane again (actually I had one of those on thursday too), not the painful kind mind, but one's that give me blind spots in my vision. Very annoying, but luckily I had some nurofen tablets in my bag, those got rid of the blind spots.

It's not like this illness is the same each day either. Saturday instead of cold chills I got hot flushes. Sunday it turned into a cough. Monday the cough got worse, felt sick in the stomach and felt nauseous at times. Today I'm feeling out of it, still coughing, and got this weird feeling in my stomach. Not like I'm going to throw up, I don't even know how to explain the feeling actually.

And that's just one of the things that's been bugging my mind of late.

I'll start with work, since I mentioned that already. I know most people around the world will say they hate their job, but I hate mine excessively. It takes up almost every waking hour of my day during the week, and then effects my weekends also. I have to get up at 4:50am each morning (3:50am next week because I'll have to catch a train at 4:41am to get to work because the guy that drives has a week off), leave for work at around 5:45-6:00am. Work starts at 7am, goes til 3:45pm. Takes til 5:00pm to get home (and when I have to take the train home, you can make that 6:30pm, or later). Once home I have enough time to eat dinner, and maybe a few hours to spare before I have to head to bed. Next week I won't have any time other than to eat and sleep. And get to the weekend, I sleep in a bit on Saturday mornings, not alot though. Have to be in bed by a reasonable hour saturday night, because Sunday night I have to be in bed by the same time I am through the rest of the week.

If I thought there was even the remotest chance I could find a different job, or didn't have to do this job any more, I'd quit in a millisecond, but I know that I can't. The sad fact of life is that you need money to survive, and the only way to get said money is a job. And this is the only one I can get. Even if I could speak the language(s) here, I still doubt I could find a better, or even closer to home, job. And I'm not getting any younger. the older you get the harder it is to find jobs, and when you can't speak the language, there isn't even any point in trying. The fact I know I'm stuck with it makes it worse too.

Speaking of not knowing the language yet, that shits me off no end. You've no idea how stupid it makes me feel that I still can't speak, or even understand more than a few words of the language. I don't have the time to go to night classes and learn either thanks to work, so that doesn't help. Still, even surrounded by people speaking the language every day, I still can't pick it up. And for everyone that says Deb needs to speak to me in Dutch at home, that'd be just super (sarcasm), then I'd understand next to nothing of what she says aswell. Give me numbers and mathematic stuff and I can learn it really quickly, but words and new languages well you might as well try to teach a rabbit to drive a road car.

I know that even if I do know the language, I'm normally quiet and say nothing (speaking of which, here apparently only people who are angry say next to nothing, so most everyone assumes because I don't say anything most of the time, I must be permanently pissed off or something) but still it'd be nice to know what everyone else was talking about. Then again maybe they are all talking about boring shite anyways so by not knowing I'm not missing out on much. But knowing what they are saying wouldn't hurt. I have some learning Dutch tapes, but they don't seem to help much, and I am so brain dead and tired after work each day that I forget I even have them, so they never get used anymore.

I've been sick alot recently it seems, far more so than usual for me. And I've been here for over a year and a half, so surely my body should be used to the different germs and stuff here compared to Australia, which makes me start to wonder if there isn't something else that's effecting my immune system.

Yeah I've got all that crap annoying my mind all day every day just abouts, but thankfully I have Deb. No matter how shitty the day is, spending time with her makes me smile. I thinks she's the only thing that keeps me sane anymore. I wish there was words that could properly express how much she means to me. Everything just doesn't seem enough, she means more than that. Far far more.

So today I've been thinking a bit about what makes a good screen layout for a MMORPG. Firstly it needs to be uncluttered. Afterall, you need to be able to see what your character is doing, and what's going on. Next is the button layout, and size. There's also the minimap. Character information, like health/magic bars or whatever is used.

The hardest part is where to position all the elements, what size to make them, and how many should there be.

Anyone who reads this have any suggestions they'd like to share? I'd like to hear them if you do, I could use the help.

So I've gone and got myself my very own wiki page, for my RPG. And I'm currently in the process of fleshing it out, making pages for all the playable races, then non playable ones, creatures, places etc.

The playable races have all been named now, and a basic page made for each, but those basic pages need a lot of work and fleshing out.

Then there's the non playable races to do, but those can wait until the world map is closer to being finalised (ie I need to redesign it, so maybe I should do that next... maybe).

Next however I think I shall work on the animal section, which I'll divide up into the animals that live in each type of climate/habitat. That should give me plenty to do for a while.

The hardest part with a wiki I think is all the categories. Trying to work out and keep that organised is gonna be a pain I recon. Anyways, I'd best get back to it, dang thing doesn't write itself.

Since I've been working on the idea of making DrkenTijd into a MMO, thanks to [link] I've been thinking of things like the style of the graphics that I want, and how certain things should work.

Firstly I thought about battlegrounds, and how it could be difficult to actually find a running battleground if there aren't enough opposition faction players on. to that end, I decided not to do BG's along the same lines as WoW did, but being that you can choose the faction you want to fight for in each battleground. Which also means that all rewards for rep from each BG need to be the same for all factions (same stats etc anyways) and just different looks.

Secondly I was thinking of mounts and pets. To save bag space like WoW currently has them take up, I'm thinking of having a button to summon mounts, and one to summon a pet, both of which would open up a special bag/list of all your mounts/pets. Also allow each summon 'spell' to be dragged to a button also, for faster casting/summoning.

Thirdly was different styles of tabard. Why should everyone throughout the world use the same style? Look at fashions through the ages. So I'm thinking wherever you start/form the guild from, would dictate which style of tabard you have. So if you wanted your guild to have a certain style, you'd need to register your guild in with the race that uses that style.

Fourth I'm thinking that spell books should be similar to the mount and pet buttons too, that you can have a button to open a list of spells, maybe for each spell realm. I'm also thinking of having a few customisable spells, such as range, size and power being able to be scaled, depending on the power of the caster.

Because the player characters are supposed to be the 'heroes' of the world, I think they should look the part, so to that end, instead of having armour parts that you can wear, and miss match, I'd like the players to always have a full 'set' of armour. Think about it, all heroes have a full set of clothing/armour that they wear, like Superman, or Batman, they don't wear mismatching apparel now do they? But if you can only wear armor 'sets' then everyone will look the same yes? well no, hopefully. I want armor sets to come in many colours, so the players can choose the colour they like, and also have a few parts of the armor that you can alter, have look different. So while it will be the same armor, it'll give you a few more choices to make your charatcer look a bit different to everyone else.

Also, bosses won't drop armor pieces, like in other games, but will drop some kind of essesnce (one for each player in the group). These essences can be saved up and later used to make/purchase better armor sets.

Also the armour and weapons of bosses I'd like to be able to be studied and learned by players, so that provided they have the necessary skills they will be able to make armor that looks like that of the bosses. Of course, studying the armor/weapons will destroy them (not that the player could wear/use the stuff anyway because it'd already be soulbound to the now dead boss)

Back to the mounts, I'm trying to think of many different types of mounts. Different animals that could be used for player mounts. So far I've thought of (or 'borrowed' from mounts other games have)

Land Mounts: Horses, Mules, Donkeys, Wolves, Cats, Bears, Rams, Rhinos, Raptors, Large Birds (like Emus and Ostriches, but NOT like Chocobos), Boars, Elephants, Bulls/Cows, Mooses, Reindeers, Rabbits, Camels, Insects, Spiders

Flying Mounts: Gryphons, Hippogryphs, Dragons, Large Birds (like Giant Eagles), Insects, Pegasus

Water Mounts: Seals, Sharks, Dolphins, Swordfishes, Giant Goldfishes, Squids, Octopus', Frogs (also land), Stingrays

Also there could be flying... objects. Not what I'd call mounts, but they'd still get you from A-B

Flying: Carpets, Clouds (like Monkey had. And If you don't know Monkey then I pity you, you've missed out on awesomeness), Brooms (everyone seems to want a flying broom, damn witches making it look so fun)

Anyone got any other suggestions?

Well it's been over a week now, and I'm still unable to believe that she's gone. On tuesday last week a good friend of mine, Jordan Mason ~Kileaiya, passed away. The world is a darker place without her light in it anymore. I will always miss her. There's not much more I can say or articulate, it hurts that she's gone.

Well I'm sending a few xmas card out to peoples, and as it stands now, I've got 4 people to send them too. And since I got a 10 pack of xmas cards, that leaves 6 left with no one to send em to. So, if'n you'd care to get a card this xmas from me, let me know ^^ and note me a postal address to send it to. First come, first served. but if by some rediculous chance of fate there is more than 6 people wanting xmas cards to arrive in their mail, then I'll just go get some more cards XD

So anywho, if you want a card, then let me know ^^ but right now, i'm off to bed to get some sleep while I can.

Ok, well i've relented finally, and here, once and for all, i'ma share my knowledge and ideas on relationships. both guys and girls can learn from this (well only if you don't already know this stuff ) so, pay attention, well actually you don't have to, but humour me and pretend you are paying attention

This may be kinda all over the shop, but too bad, i'm just typing up this as it comes to mind. So, here goes... and if you don't like the subject of a paragraph, don't read that one. The first sentence should give you a fair indication of what the rest of the paragraph will be about.

The little things count. Pay attention to the things each other likes. Some of the best gifts are small things, things that show you actually take notice of your partner. Flowers and chocolates are all well and good, but they are also very... well they're the stock standard gifts. It shows you care more if you take the time and effort to get a gift that's much more personal. Maybe your partner likes to have candles in their room. If so, take notice of what types they like, or to when they are running low on them, and surprise them by getting some nice ones for them. It'll mean alot more that way. Your partner will really know you care.

Guy's especially pay attention to this one. Just because you go out and have a nice dinner, or you buy your partner a nice gift, don't expect that that means tonight you're going to "get some". This may be hard for some people to understand, but there's more to a relationship than just sex. And seriously, if that's all you're in the relationship for, do both of yourselves a favour and get the heck outta dodge before you both end up getting hurt. Mind you, if you're that shallow that all you want is sex, well you'd not be reading this anyways, so... yeah.

If you want to know if your relationship really has a chance, first thing to do is ask yourself "Would i prefer to be going out with my friends, or stay in with my partner?" Sounds like a dumb question yes, but i've been on the other end of it. Simple questions like that usually give you the clearest answers.

Wanna know how to be a better lover? You really only need 3 things. Have an open mind. Just because you haven't tried something before doesn't mean you won't like it. But this goes both ways, don't try and force your partner into doing things that make them uncomfortable. Secondly, talk with your partner about your likes, dislikes, ecpectations, even your fantasies. Ok this isn't something to be discussed at the dinner table, and it's not always an easy topic to start talking about, but being open with one another will make things between you so much better. And lastly, and maybe most importantly, don't be a selfish lover. Making love is supposed to be an enjoyable experience for both of you, not just for one of you. If one of you isn't getting any enjoyment out of it, it's only going to lead to resentment, bad feelings, even the break down of your whole relationship.

Take the time to do things for one another. If your partner likes to go for walks in the park, make some time, and take them. Make time for "them", an evening where you do things that they like to do, even if you yourself don't like those things so much. The fact you go to the effort for your partner shows you care.

And finally, maybe the best thing to keep in mind, random acts of romance. Do special things for your partner on a day other than an anniversary, or valentines day (though do things on these days too ) for no other reason than you love your partner. Come home with a single red rose, go out to dinner together, give your partner a massage (and don't expect anything in return). It's all about letting your partner know you care, or if you've been together for a while, that you still care.

This is all pretty simple stuff i know, but i'm still amazed how many people just don't get it. Hey, if it helps even one couple out there, then i'm glad.
