So yeah, time to do what we were doing that made us so good in the first place. I like competition as im sure you know, so I have decided to start a new competition! More on that later.
Secondly, I will be looking for assistants to help me out when I cannot do my duties as guild leader. So if interested, come send me a note, and we will talk from there.


THE CHALLENGE:
Mediterranean Weaponry
From the Greeks & Romans, to Egyptian & Persian, the Mediterranean style has captured my eye. From the delicate curves of classical Italian to the romantic flamboyancy of the French, it has always been beautiful in any form or country it has to offer.
Your job in this challenge, is to take a Mediterranean country and use that countries own art style to create a beautiful weapon of your choosing.

RULES:
- You must tell us which country you are basing your idea on.
- Any weapon from any time is acceptable, from past to present,
swords to guns
- Deadline is Nov 28th 2009

From here on out, this will not only be a guild to show people some art, it will also educate people on weapons and their importance in history, modern media, and so on. And dont worry, I wont turn this into Saturday morning school crap.

Secondly, all my rules will stay. I will be able to pick and choose what gets put up on the guild, and what does not. If I feel it isnt worthy of this great guild, then its not up. No more fanart weapons. Yes, we have all seen keyblades, buster swords, and gunblades. Now if your not going to do anything unique with it, keep that crap in the fanart section! But if you make your own unique piece, then we might make an exception.

Third, I will be bringing in new ideas. Firstly on this matter, this guild is going to be collaborating with my personal vehicular combat video game, Autowars. You dont have to join this if you dont want to, but those who do will get credited in game. What im wanting is everyone to come up with weapons for the game. I will post more on this later on.

Also, no more contests of the months, those seem to have just dwindled down in popularity. But dont fret if you do like the contests, for ill be bringing in something new.

So, in short, im keeping the guild, and dammit, im going to bring it back to life, and I need everyones help to do so. This guild can be one of the greatest guilds on deviantart, so lets not allow it die out just yet!

WEAPONRY GUILD - AUGUST
THEME: The duelists weapon

The duelist. A lone warrior with only one passion in life. To fight and claim victory. Though some fight for love, some fight for hatred and rivalries. But no matter what the reason, the duel has always been the same. Two people enter, one leaves alive. From the French rapiers to the western revolvers, duels have been a part of our great history for as long as we can remember.

YOUR JOB: To create a weapon suitable for a duelist. This can be from any era and any location. But this time, we have rules!

1: No super massive machine guns or rocket launchers. They are duelists. Known for precise hits and pinpoint accuracy, not just shooting willy-nilly everywhere.

2: The weapon must be able to fit in a normal sized hand. It can be two handed or one handed, but nothing the size of Clouds buster sword or an eighteen wheeler.

3: It may be accompanied by a side weapon, such as a main gauche or wakizashi. But the main focus must be on the main weapon.


DEADLINE: August 22nd - 12:30 Central Time

We all have heard the legend of the Black knight. A powerful warrior known for his prowess in battle and his dark blackened armor. The Black knight is one who shows no allegiance to anyone. So this month, we will be using this legend as the base for the new weapon. You can do any kind of Black Knight, from the great knights of English lore to the ronins of Japan. You job is to create the weapon used by the black knight. If possible, come up with a story for the weapon and what kind of black knight uses it and so on.

VEHICULAR WEAPONRY
Since the wheel has been invented, there has been vehicular weaponry. A staple in modern and sci fi themes, vehicular weaponry is the one that strikes the most fear into most people. The Death Star. Photon Torpedoes. Miniguns on helicopters. There is not one vehicular weapon that does not make every man cringe in fear, while also putting that same man into a state of awe.

Your job for the next 3 months is to create your very own vehicular weapon. It can be an ancient stone structure to the most advanced space fighter laserbeam, and everything in between.

So, hae fun, be creative, and do your best. Good luck.

New Contest starting; Future and Fantasy
The goal of this contest is to create any kind of weapon that would exist in a fantasy or future/sci-fi setting.
You could make anything from a magical ancient sword to a Lightning gun. Be sure to stay imaginative.

Your submissions will be rated for Creativity, Fulfilment of the spec (Future and Fantasy), Presentation and Originality.
Originality will be the least detrimental to your overall score. Think of it more as being extra-credit. If you create something ive never seen or thought about before (which would be hard) then its going to up your score alittle. Otherwise its deffinently not a big deal. Presentation and creativity will be high up on my list of importance. So make sure it's hawt!
Submissions must be in by the 6th of May 2008, (thats a only 10 days people) just send me a note following the submission rules but entitled Contest entry.

Winner gets featured with their winning submission on the weaponry-guilds front page, and will be featured with 3 pictures of their choice on my main accounts journal.

New Contest starting; Weapon Combo
The goal of this contest is to combine 2 or more different weapons into one. You can combine any weapons you want at all, from a Gun-Blade to a Minigun attached to a Rocket Launcher.
swords, blades, pistols, shotguns, rockets, explosives, projectiles, whatever you want.
The minimum weapons combined is just 2, but you can combine as many as you want.

Your submissions will be rated for Practicality, Fulfilment of the spec (Weapon Combo) and Presentation.
Practicality is going to be kind of hard to maintain here. Keep in mind weight and functionality. for instance....... a sniper/axe isn't going to be a super choice, since snipers are usually too far away to axe their target instead.....
and it would probably weigh a lot, making it hard to aim. The list goes on, just do you best and try to keep it kickass.
If it looks amazing then i can overlook practicality alittle.

THANKFULLY i don't have a life! so I'm on DA a lot. i love artists and art.

if you have any unanswered "join" notes then please resubmit them and i will add you gladly.

i love contest and will be holding them as often as possible, and will be judging them along with any other judges i choose, and if i join the contest (or any of the judges) then myself/them will not receive any placements for obvious reasons.

After the positive response; I am starting the guilds first contest WOOP WOOP.

Contest title : Design a fantasy themed weapon
As far as im concerned fantasy means fictional, so you basically have freedom here.
Prize : 1st place will be featured on the front page until the next contest
Deadline : April 30th 2007, I hope that gives people enough time.

A few notes : the deviation must be new submitted to DA specially for this contest.
The submissions will be judged against the following criteria : Originality, functionality and the presentation.
There is no limit to how many enteries you give, but you can only take one position, not 1st, 2nd and 3rd.

To submit a contest entry send us a note titled 'Contest Entry' aontaining the link.
The piece will be re-submitted here as a Contest submission under the normal submission rules.

Im currently accepting any kind of media: drawings, computer drawings, paintings, computer models . . . whatever you've chosen to use.
The piece must be a weapon design, or have the weapon as the focus of the peice. It can be any kind of weapon.
