I just loaded some new deviations: some of a nocturnal surprice we had this week! :snowing: Late at night I went for a walk to
take pictures. It was so silent and peaceful!!  A wonderful experience.

With some members of our local photoclub we went to Rotterdam to take pictures of the harbour and the refineries there.
We first visited an exhibition in the Rotterdam Photomuseum about the works of the famous war photographer Frank Cappa.

I would like to tell you something about my visit to the GO CHINA! exhibitions in Assen en Groningen last month.
I went there by train (3 hours ride) with one of my friends and her daughter. My friend took her pocket digital camera with her and I took a series of picture with it, because I didn't want to take my rather heavy camera with me.
First we visited the museum in Assen. I've always wanted to see the terracotta army, and this was a great opportunity so see them! It was very impressive. Only probleem was the darkness of the places where they put the statues. Time for an updat of my journal!

First I would like to tell you that I worked on my message centre! Last week I had 18,000 deviations to comment on. In the past I sometimes just pushed the button, but this time I wanted to look at all of them, but without commenting, that would take to much of my time. Yesterday I finished the job!!! Spend a lot of hours here in front of my computer. Glad that I did that, because there where so many beautiful, stunning, sweet etc. deviations, which I  :+fav:ed and added to my collections!!!

So now I can add some new deviations to my gallery!

My father (88) had a stroke last week and he is in hospital now. He can hardly
move his left leg and left arm. After his stay in the hospital he has to go somewhere else for revalidation. It's hard to see him suffering.

After the summer holidays we'll have a special project (Photoclub) for an alt violist who lives in our town. She asked us to take pictures that will go with her performance.

THE HEATH AND THE SHEEP

I've been to the province of Drente (in the north of the Netherlands) for a 10-days holiday.

I love the woods, the fens, the small villages, the sheep (and cows) on the heath, the farms with lots of horses, the birds and the (megalithic) chambered tombs (hunebed, made of huge stones who came here during the ice age).

While we were there the weather was just great.

The pictures I'm adding today were all taken with my new Canon EOS 30D camera. I still have got to learn alot about that camera. I also took pictures with my Canon IXUS 50.

Today I finally bought my new digital reflex camera!!! :boogie: As you can see it's the Canon EOS 30D.

Before I will add the first pictures taken with the 30D I will have to practise to get used to the camera. When I hold it it's a big difference with my first digital camera, the Canon IXUS 50.  Weight of the IXUS is 130 g, while the weight of the 30D is 700 g. Difference in size too: 30D is 144x106x74mm and the IXUS is 86x53x20.7mm.
But of course there isn't only a difference in weight and size!!!!

I just added 10 pictures of some sheep, lambs and a sweet looking goat to my gallery!
I didn't have to go far to take their pictures. They live close to my house in a park, with lots of domesticated animals, for the children in the neighbourhood.

I just added 11 pictures of Denise to my gallery: The Dutch writer Arthur Japin wrote a wonderful book about Cassanova's :heart:  first love, called Lucia's Eyes (Een schitterend gebrek). www.sfstation.com/article.php?articleId=1668

This book inspired me to take some portraits of a girl almost her age.
