About The Welcome Centre

This community has been set up by ordinary deviants with no affiliation with deviantART, to welcome and help all new deviants. When I joined deviantART, it was very intimidating, as it's a huge place and very difficult to learn every rule, find every part of the FAQ and know where every deviation should go. I have been welcoming new deviants personally for a while now, and have noticed that it's always appreciated - I've even had people note me to say thank you, and how helpful it's been. So I created this community, to bring together like-minded deviants with the hope of leaving a few kind words and links to useful parts of deviantART on the user page of each and every new deviant, and also of being an unofficial help centre - somewhere for new people to bring queries when their question isn't answered in the FAQ, for example, or if it isn't particularly clear.

Join Us!

We are always looking for members to join us in our quest. If you have time to spare, please join, even if it's only an hour a week. We'll come up with a target number each week, and the aim will be to meet or exceed the number of welcomed deviants each week. Remember though, it's not a drive to see who can rack up the largest number. We will have no way of telling how many deviants each person has welcomed; it's just something we want people to do out of the goodness of their hearts. To join =welcomecentre, please note us with your name.

As =ghostlove mentioned, I am ~counselor. and I have recently taken over in moderation of the =welcomecentre. First I'd like to take a moment and say Congratulations Anjii on the birth of your son Orion.
Next I'd like to ask anyone who's still alive, just give me a note on either this account or on my ~counselor account just to let me know so I can have an idea as to who's around and who may have left or whatnot.

Just to let everyone know that my little boy Orion Taliesin was born and is healthy and happy, and so am I (if a little tired). I also want to take this opportunity to say goodbye and to introduce ~counselor as the new moderator of the community.

I will be remaining a member but obviously with Orion I don't have time for the organisation which goes with moderation. I have known ~counselor as a deviant for some time and know him to be a very competent and reasonable person which I feel makes him the ideal person for the job.

So welcome to ~counselor, I look forward to seeing the community thrive under your guidance.

Okay, I'm about two weeks away from giving birth and I haven't been maintaining this place the way I should. For this I apologise profusely, but the truth of the matter is that if I'm this busy now, the arrival of my baby is not exactly going to make things any easier.

Therefore I want to pass the community over to another maintainer. Anyone can apply, just send a note to me, =ghostlove (not to the community account), explaining who you are and why you want to take over moderation of the community. I'll hand over full admin rights (password etc) in about two weeks, when I've found someone suitable.

It saddens me to have to do this, as the members here are lovely people. I'd like to remain an active member of the community. I just can't continue with this responsibilty when I have so many others which much take priority.

I look forward to hearing from you.
