Preview evening Friday 15th June from 7pm until 10pm

This former cotton spinning mill once filled with the sounds of industry has now been brought back to life as working studios for over 50 North West artists.

The VMA is now considered to be the largest artist led studio group in England.

The main VMA Summer Exhibition runs from Saturday 16th June to Sunday 1st July.

I announced a while ago that I was planning to create a book of my artwork, and this has been my main focus over the last few weeks. I've already had a prototype printed, through Lulu.com, but the final version is still a way off completion. In my early twenties I produced a lot of creative writing, which I have unearthed and revised for this project. My recent exhibition at Vernon Mill was a great success; I gained alot of useful feedback and positive comments, as well as making a number of sales. Thanks to everyone who attended - even those people who said I had a sick imagination (I'm sure they meant it as a compliment!)
One suggestion that came up from several sources, was that I should compile a book of my artwork - something I've considered myself, but never bothered to persue. However, I'm now hoping to get a limited print run completed before the end of the year, which I plan to sell mail order via my website. I just thought I'd mention that several of my old pieces have been replaced with slightly updated files. I'm in the process of reprinting my portfolio for an exhibition, and as I'm opening and printing every file anyway, I thought it'd be a good time to correct a few errors, standardise my titles, and adjust the colour and tonal balance on some old work. I've also discovered that my last computer had a very dark screen, and as a result, some pieces appeared very pale or washed out when viewed on other monitors. Hopefully my gallery page, when fully re-mastered, should look a lot more as I intended it to.

I've also found out this morning that I've had two paintings accepted for the Stockport Art Gallery Open Exhibition ("Stuck in a Rook" & "The Same Boat"). I'm not going to be able to make it to the opening, but the exhibition runs till 1st September.
