Disappointed

I go to the pinup gallery and instead of traditional good fun and friendly pinup, I find what I would consider porn. I am not mad because everyone deserves the right to express themselves and their idea of pinup in whatever way they think is best. I am just disappointed that a full on (IMHO tasteless) photo of a very up close and personal part of the female body is the top pinup photo in the last 24 hours. We each have our limits on what is and isn't appropriate. I do not need to see someone's anus in my day...

I have been moving away from DA for some time, but I now feel it is definately time for us to see other people.

BTW...
there is a major difference in [link] and the other image which i am opting not to give any more attention by posting here. Perry Gallagher is a favorite of mine and a real inspiration.

I watched the sun come up this morning as I finished up my last minute packing. Today we move into our new house - I am giddy and stressed cause that is what I do. I am heaing over there at 9 am whiche means i have a few more hours to get everything ready while the hubby and friends take our tv over to the house.
I will have limited access to internerd till next weekend so I doubt I will make it on here to post anything, but I will have some stuff to post soon. I have been working my tail off.

Life is marching on. Our puppy keeps loosing his baby teeth which freaks me out when I step on one. I cut my hair off for summer - very short considering it was down to the midddle of my back. I love it.

I have been shooting a lot but most of it is paid work so I don't generally post those here. I also have some kinda cool stuff going on in other areas too - but I am sooooo busy.

We are back shopping for a house. We are looking next weekend. I will keep my fingers crossed for that perfect place.

In other news - we have a new addition to our family, Malachi. He is a now 9 week old Siberian Husky ball of terror. He is a silly dog. He is currently playing in his water bowl. Our 5 year old furry child Sasha, is not sure what to think of him.

Lone Star Roundup (the big classic car weekend in Austin, Texas) is coming up so there has been a lot of work to the '56 being done by my husband. Boys under cars are HOT HOT HOT! And in Texas that holds true for the weather too.

Other than that - we are still looking for the perfect house and saving our pennies. Buy prints. Send money. Or at least buy me drinks when you see me...

All good on the home front

My camera is home! yay for canon only raping me a little for a new shutter... still I will be posting more prints and old stuff that I want for myself. So buy some stuff if you want to make me happy.

We are still in the middle of home buying hell. We are looking for the house of our dreams and to get the hell out of my house of terror. I will be so happy when we leave. I am avoiding packing till we find a house. (or find a house that we actually get because i am head over heels in love with one right now...)

Our new addition makes his debute on Sunday. I am keeping him all to myself for a while but I will likely post something as soon as I get him in my hot little hands. I have been searching for the perfect name for a few weeks now and have narrowed it down to a few that I love - but when he arrives I will know what his name should be. Ok so I am told that this part is a bit ambiguous so I will clarify. He is a small furry addition not the bouncing baby kind of addition. Babies are for borrowing not for owning.

I am shooting with my muse this weekend which makes me all kinds of happy! Yay for Molly time. New photos next week I am sure. I am also getting ready for Lone Star Roundup and putting in a new windshield wiper for the 1956 this weekend. So busy little me...

Oh and if you are a basketball fan - my husband has been keeping a online diary for all of the playoffs and plans to keep up with it for the whole of march madness... Madness is right... I hear Dick Vitale in my sleep... and he is not something I ever wanted in my head... ever...

My camera had to be shipped back to Canon. I am not happy. The shutter will need to be replaced. So I am going to use that one as a back up and buy something new.

DD and other stuff

NEW USER ICON IN HONOR OF HALLOWEEN

I woke up this morning to bad news from my family - well technically it is not bad news but I would not wish a broken heart on anyone. I spent the morning with my husband and then came home to a Daily Deviation. Today is not shaping up to badly.

Many of you know the love hate relationship that I have had with DA in the past. I have taken measures to prevent people from stealing my work and claiming it as their own. I think every artist has to deal with this. It is one of the worst feelings - knowing someone else has taken a part of your soul (as I feel my art is to me) and is claiming it as thier own. Instead of taking all of my art off of DA (where I have found most of it is stolen from) - I opted to include my logo painfully marring the photo in hopes that someone will think twice about claiming it as their own.

With this DD, I have had many comments about this. I feel aweful that it has come down to this. That people are not honest with themselves enough to create something beautiful of thier own. I worry that this has a strangle hold on the art community as a whole. Maybe I was taught early on that plagiarism is not acceptable. Who knows. I hope that those who are new to watching me and who have favorited my work will understand why it is I have to disfigure the images.

Today is nudes day. I only do nudes one time of year. The Octopus Club of Austin puts on Art Erotica (an art show benefiting the Aids foundation of Austin) every year about this time. This year is especially important to my as it is 10 year since the loss of a good friend.
10 images will be submitted this year. I am picking out images from some of the ones I am submitting over the rest of the evening. 1 image has been selected. It is my red ribbon for this year called Fight.

We are home and I am glad. LA was...LA. Nothing much to report from that location except it is COLD!

The wedding was wonderful and my bestfriend is married. I am tired and for the first time ever I think I have jet lag.

I am just a little mad at DA right now for a print order that never came in. They told me in not so many words - too bad take it up with the post office...

I don't see anywhere where it mentions that I shouldn't use USPS or else they won't help me if I do. I am not sure why you would offer a service that you won't really support. I am also not sure why a long time customer would be treated so callously.

So this may be it for my DA account soon. I will post till the first of the year and if I don't get a resolution I will be leaving very disappointed.

I am for now hopeful that they will make things right and instead of telling me to "consider upgrading your shipping methods for future orders" they will help this be resolved.

Bitching and moaning is not my thing...

I will have a holiday post when I am feeling more in the spirit. Maybe tomorrow I will go to the Trail of Lights and spin around under the tree and be in Austin Xmas Spirit. Or maybe I will take a bite out of a poor guy's ass for telling me to go fuck myself...

I have been asked for 6 to 8 nude images for a local couples store. I am not a HUGE fan of nudes because I think they turn out a bit trashy looking sometimes. I think there is more you can do without being naked, but I took the offer anyways. I liked some of my old images but they were special for something else so I didn't want to down play that, so that meant an open call for friends and models who wanted to strip it all off and play.
I shot last night and I am happy how some of the images came out...one will be posted in a few moments.

Tuesday morning someone syphoned gas out of our truck. Stupid idiots - about half a tank. Also just found out the transmission is going out in the truck. This makes me sick to even think about. We have been looking at getting a new vehicle but we were not ready yet and now we have no choice. It could not have come at a worse time. I am gonna keep knocking on wood that it doesn't go out tonight or before we can get a new car or get it fixed. ~sigh~
I am trying to whore myself out for any kind of work right now to make some money to pay for things we need like the new car so if you know anyone one who needs photography, graphic design, or any of the other numbers of things I know how to do...I am interested. I am even taking on some weddings in the next few months.

I got a new Digital SLR yesterday. I am GIDDY! I am excited to get to shoot with it. I am now randomly coming up to girls in the grocery store who I like their looks and giving them my card. It is rather funny to me...
I also ugraded my computer to the monster storage devise it wanted to be. 400 GIG Hard Drive. It loves me lots. This of course came after filling up both of my old drives Monday night.

I am going back to being giddy!!!

The wings are great - my muse is the next victim of a shoot with the wings. I will post some photos after that shoot as well. I love getting new props.

I have been inspired. I watched Phantom of the Opera recently and I was inspired to do a dark gothic shoot at night with candles. I am not sure when I will get around to this considering all that is happening right now.

I am woking on a few projects right now including a shoot with Miss Kitty on Sunday (as of this moment). Since the wedding is over and things are done, I have lots of plans and tons of ideas so I am really excited to start on some of them. The studio is coming along although not as quickly as I would like...but that is the way of things. I went out to hear my dad play (the daughter of a musician means I get to do that alot) and shot with another photographers RAWKING Nikon Digital SLR. It was great fun. She paid me a high compliment by saying I have a good eye to my dad. Maybe this will speed the process along of getting me the equipment I really want for the studio. We will see. He really wants me to go head first into this and I would love to - the more work I do the more I realize how much I missed shooting during the time I took off while in college. I also realized how wasted my degree is.
I know it is just the itch of being in the same job for a year (damn me for being the typical Gemini) but I keep wanting to find my place and I know very well it is not really here. My tallents are wasted here but it does support me doing what I want outside of work hours (film is pricey). I will stick it out till I get fed up or until I find something better.
My muse's birthday is coming up and I am thinking he is getting a playstation 2 to replace the stolen one. We will see...

Wedding Shower

I have some of the most amazing people as friends... I got a lot of stuff for the shower - much more than I could have ever expected. I feel very lucky that I have so many people that care about me enough to waste 2 hours of their day playing silly games and watching me open presents and coo about the wedding. Jessica, prolly my longest time friend since we have been friends since 7th grade, threw me the shower. She is the bestest. I don't spend nearly enough time with her now due to schedules and kids, but she has been through it all with me. I get to babysit for her on friday for her littlest. I am pretty excited. Kids are great fun to borrow. There were a few people that I missed seeing at the shower...but I understand how things go and for one I send all my love and best wishes to get better and the other I am just glad she got to spend time with her Monkey.
One of the most impressive presents I got was a set of signed limited edition prints of my favorite artist, Ty Wilson - singed and numbered...

STUDIO

The devil has moved out of my house finally and I have my studio! I am perfectly giddy and ready to shoot as often as I can. With wedding planning it doesn't make a lot of available time but I am giddy. I think I will shoot some tonight if I get the chance. I am for sure setting up a shoot for this weekend.

1) What is the story behind your username?
Wicked Hailey came from some really silly little twit girlfriend of a friend when I was in high school - she made the mistake of quoting things incorrectly around me and I (as I am often prone to as a red head) went off. The friends found it rather amusing to tease me about it and it stuck
2) What's your current avatar of, and why?
Me cause I am a spoiled rotten - I took that photo forever ago.
3) Your favourite thing to draw/shoot?
Models of any type - I love unique looking people - since I know alot of girls and I shoot them pretty well I stick with what I know
4) What is your favourite piece in your gallery and why?
MIRROR, MIRROR - I just adore how this image turned out. Miss Kitty is a doll to work with and I love it when I capture just the right look in her eyes.
