We see the whole thing from sea level, looking up at the side of the boat and Don, his face is bruised, swollen, big cut above his left eye, having a short beard a mustache. torn, soaked clothes, etc. It's been really rough. his right arm (on our side) is in the air, his elbow at about the same height as his shoulder. he's holding the radio, he just ripped it out of the boat, wires and screws still flying mid-air. The scene is frozen in the action. Don looks at the place where the radio was, his face in a sort of agony/rage. He's had it.

"Ripping out the radio..
I want to be alone!"

Now, I wanted to paint it. But, first; I know I'm not going to finish it because I don't have the patience. and second; I want to experiment new techniques and stuff.

So, any suggestions? Photography doesn't seem to be an option

almost there...

Never mind that, my HD got screwed, physically messed up, with no back up. After trying to save my files and apps by copying them manually on to a new disk because the 'import files and users from another partition' app made the disk sound like a pig squealing in a megaphone, which finally led to a system freeze, CS3 told me to reactive. Which it couldn't do because i had used the maximum of activations, so had to deactivate the copy on the broken HD. after going through a lot of shit I managed to semi-run from the old HD but on deactivating it said it couldn't be done and I should call tech support.
When rebooting from the new disk, with a cluttered half-imported system, it showed a nice aqua background but refused to launch the Finder, seems I accidently moved the system library instead of copying it... So, here I am, on a clean install -again- without my files or any app except from the standard ones.

On the bright side I got the latest ComputerARTS today to read during those long boring install screens, and the perfect anger outlet; Black from *RenBB to comfort me with shotguns and plenty of rebel scum

Health wise:
I've got a slight concussion (got quite a blow to back of my head 2 days ago) or a bad fever without my stomach acting funny.
Walking sucks, looking around sucks, anything that involves moving my head sucks.
I feel like my head's moving through wavy water, being pushed back and forth all the time.

Work wise:
I've been working on:

- some portfolio site designs, I nearly finished a neat looking flash site, but then decided I didn't like it and threw it away..
It just wasn't creative and fun enough (white paper with text and drag able artwork, with post-its as navigation (as can be seen here [link] )
So after some brainstorming I came up with another idea, however, it is a lot of work to draw and animate, and it may make people shake their heads and close the window, but I like it. (first stage : [link] )

- Eva's second portrait, using Illustrator this time.
Just can't figure out how to do the eyes, nose etc etc without making them look pasted on..
Maybe it's time to work out how Painter X really works ( wip: [link] )

- an ad for three "gigs" at our school, the ad has been cancelled so I'll finish it whenever the hell I feel like it and post it here on dA for the lulz. ( dun dun dunnn: [link] )

- a logo for a friend, he's doing this short film for the dutch film festival and asked for a "Cals Productions" logo as a WB logo. ( can't be arsed to look up the illustrator file, here, have a sketch: [link] )

- another friendly and possibly postponed (because we're lazy like that) contest with ~RenBB again, this time the goal is to create a digital painting of a ghost ship, because.. well.. we both don't really know how to do that

It turned out my granpa didnt die within the 24 hours on the 5th..
We called last friday to check why we didn't get a mourning card, turns out he was still alive. that is, his heart was stil pumping and if he had any brain activity it would just be the Cerebral Cortex..
So, on sunday last week we decided to pay a visit, that is, my mom and sister did, I didn't go after thinking about for some time.. I'd rather remember him as the happy man who visited us at our parties, always smiling, rather than a pale-dying-old man who is "sleeping" in a hospital bed.

so anyway, they went off in the evening and came back not that much later. turns out he died that morning.

So, the funural is tomorrow.

After the funural ill have 5 hours before I'm going iceskating with some friends. Which hopefully will cheer me up again.

We just received a phone call,
on the 8th of may in 2006 my grandma died [link] [link] , short after that my grandpa's health got worse and worse, a couple of months back he got a Cerebral hemorrhage leading to dementia and a life in a hospital bed.

tonight he had a second one, he's in a coma now, going to decease within 24 hours.
To add to that, my brother's birthday is tomorrow.

I guess I'll be back to even more sighing and staring for a few days, just when things we're getting a bit brighter and slowly slipping back on track.

I wish I could burst out crying, but...

..

My mind keeps telling me it's ok, he has lived a beautifull life, he is going to the best place he could ever be...

And thinking about him makes my stomach twist and my body keeps on shaking.

Just a couple of things i want off my chest.

1. As most of you watchers now, next year im going to the GLU (Graphic Lyceum Utrecht) to study multi-media design for 4 years.
But, I'm still not sure whether that is what i want to do. I got several "dreams", a) designing and building websites. well, not just doing it, but rocking hard at it. b) making posters, flyers, etc. (print-media iirc) c) Animation. I don't mind if it's 3d or 2d, being able to animate (short)films has been a dream of mine for years now.

So, here I am. Still having no flipping clue of what to choose and time ticks by.

I had the same problem last year, during the take-in's ( see [link] and those before that one) I had no idea what to choose, so I chose Mm design, because a student told me Mmd had the most Flash-lessons. But as far as i know i'll be an "avarage-all-round-designer" after four years.
And looking at the gallery on their website ( [link] ), most of it seems like childrens play, especially the multi-media design part.

there's also the possibility of moving on to the HKU (Hogeschool voor de Kunsten (or in english: Higher education for Arts). The HKU seems to offer what I want to reach, or at least the base for it. however, I failed two years so when i finish Highschool I'll be seventeen. When I finish higher education I'll be 21. And studying the same subject until I'm 21 and having the possibility of finding out I liked B or C better half way through... I'd best make up my mind before the polonaise starts.

So, what is up?
well, we got back from france. And now the real world is piling up again
my bike's rear wheel has a bump in it, and its probably gonna take 60 euros to get it fixed. Then there's the problem of me being too lazy to take it to the bike repair dude. It needs to be repaired by the third, That's when school starts again but the bike-repair-dude only works on tuesdays...

then there's the yearly wrap-the-school-books shit. i have to wrap em all up since there hired as always, but I can't really be arsed to do so when theres a Mac staring at me with it's photoshop-magical-ness.

Then there's the Identity website, it was suppossed to be finished by now. But then i found out that pageflip (which we were gonna use for the site) does NOT support dynamic content. So far for an automagically updating diary with a cms running in the back. If anyone knows an other way to update a flash using a cms without being "dynamic", please help me out!

One last thing,

I'm taking 2 suitcases
one has (under)pants, shirts, etc. and 3 sketching books (sizes A3, A4 and "A4-sized-square")

the other is filled with pencils (over 200 different ones!!!! ; (2x) 9h - 12 b, (2x) just about every colour imaginable, watercolours, metallic colours and last but not least charcoal)
it also contains another sketchbook (A5 book sized ),
5 erasers,
2 rolls of tape (ya never know ),
1 pair of siccors,
2 magazines stuffed with pics of bands and intruments (for superblob's birthday on the 4th, im going to make him a drawing containing his fave bands.),
5 issues of bright magazine (life/tech/design magazine, great inspiration source),
10 issues of ComputerArts Magazine on cd (which I have never read ),
1 posing-doll-thing (self made out of k'nex )
1 cradle for my pda,
1 power plug for cell.

So, I guess I won't be bored.

Oh, and keep an eye out for Identity , JustRen and I have been busy working on it, tonight or tomorrow the site will be on hold for the public (a teaser of the girl's diary made in flash), so you won't be able to see our ugly work in progress , The final website will be great, We're both putting a 100% on this one (atleast I am, right Edwin?).

Ok, so earlier today. (for me yesterday lol) I wrote how theres nothing good in my gallery.
Well, going through it again it amazed me how much i haven't finished and submitted. I think I have atleast 20 unfinished space scene's, 10 drawings/sketches, 30 renders. all of them unfinished and swirled into nothing-ness (big hard drive with too much folders :c ). Now, i cant submit and finish them right now, gotta pack and all. but IF my dad takes his macbook along to france I might be able to finish them all while I'm gone...

GLU means Graphic Lyceum Utrecht
VWO means Scientific Advanced Education
HAVO means Higher General Advanced Education

Well, as you have all read in my previous journals I passed the GLU part of actually going to the GLU after this way too short holiday.

But then there's the other part...
To go to the GLU i also needed my certificate. Which I didnt get because I didn't have exactly the highest marks. So I'll have to do year 3 over, but not in VWO, because VWO is stuffed. I'm being forced to drop one level to HAVO, no big deal because I'll only be on the passie for one more year, but a big deal beacause most-if not all of the people I know are in VWO, sure I'll make new freinds and such, but still it feels kinda stupid. I was actually looking forward to be in one class again wiht my old mate matte. But things turned out differently and he is passing on to 3 VWO and im slipping down to 3 HAVO.

BUT IM NOT GONNA BE EMO 'BOUT IT >: (

ok. lets get to busyness cause being sad and depressed isnt gonna help anyone.

erm. I've been listening to sum colplay lately and done a couple o sketches, done sum renders. and theyre either going to be or are already being scanned/postworked/HUGE-ified (flying at the speed of sound = 5000x5000 pixels). so prepare for eliminaton of the ones I dont like and the submitting of maybe just one pic

oh, also, Im leaving to la douce france by thursday. which sucks. why? well, france i sgreat, dont get me wrong. its jsut that i have a lot of wokr to do BEFORE we leave (pack (ofcourse), build a website+flyer+poster+dvd cover (luckily JustRen decided to help me with these, and you're a great help! :festive: give him a big hug for me when you see him somewhere, like on msn or dA) and another website/poster. not to mention all the personal projects (collabs, deviations, flash designs (i got a real cool idea im working on, a flash rss reader which you can read as a book, with page flipping and tearing and all, even shows videos and images on the "paper". almost finished it, just actionscripting the final bits. ) )

And then theres ofcourse the lack of any good art in my gallery, so I'll be sweeping the scrap-broom though it as of tommorrow

that piece of pseudo-Basic kinda sums up my day.
Got Summer Holiday and folded approx. 100 Origami ducks with my mates Steven, Daniel () and Vivian, and than we decided to put them in the teacher's mailboxes. Yesterday we made about 30 of em, we placed them throughout the school, hid them all over, and some on places where they can be spotted easily (on the stairs) after a while you heard all most everyone say "What the hell are those stupid ducks doing here!?". We made some out of newspapers, cadboard boxes and plain paper.
Mission Accomplished

now the only school related thing left is the fearsome sportsday D:
