I'm working on my own "anime" (could you call it that? It's not related to anything Asian... but it's drawn in the style, it's animated, and it'll have a story...) based on a book. It's probably obvious which book it's based on. xD (I was sort of inspired by "Romeo x Juliet", which is an anime/manga based on one of my favourite plays... which could also count as a book. So I thought, "Why not try to make an "anime" based on another really good book?" Of course... It most likely won't be anywhere near as good as Gonzo's rendition... but... I want to try. C: ) Soo.... I need voice actors. >.< (Or actresses...) I guess I'll have to have auditions on YouTube or something? ;

Anyway, wow, I was pretty ticked off when I posted last. I mean, REALLY. I don't usually let those things get to me.
And, though I still stand with most of the things I originally said, I've began to realize a few things...
Well, I took to editing a bit. I found out the main reason why some of my characters had been called Mary Sues was because lack of detail. I hadn't described why one character had red hair. I hadn't described the other characters in enough detail, so one seemed to be described too much. There was also one HUGE detail (which trails off into little details...) that I had completely left out, leaving the reader confused.
Also, the characters called for name changes. I mean, why would two characters who had come from Holland (but were very familiar with English culture) have the names "Kiyomi" and "Reiko"!? (I've started thinking more logically. Thank God.) So I changed their names. I changed Kiyomi to Isabella, because it's a pretty, European name, it fits her because it means "close to God", but it's not so dramatic that it's stupid. I renamed Reiko Annelisse because it's also pretty, European, but not overly dramatic, however I have no clue what it means. x] But she just sort of seems like an Annelisse.
Also, many of the assumptions came from the fact that the reader didn't know what would happen next. I didn't really "foreshadow" that Isabella (A.K.A. Kiyomi) was--
A) A complete wimp.
B) So shy that she was afraid to talk to most people.
C) Going to have a seizure in a burning forest (or that she had seizures in the first place).
D) Going to die a painful, gorey death. (Oops, sorry for spoiling it!)
E) Easily scared.
F) Easily manipulated.
G) Other things I forgot to mention.
--Or that Annelisse (A.K.A. Reiko) was--
A) Dark, even a bit evil.
B) Very sarcastic.
C) Extremely protective of Isabella
D) Etc...
I also decided I'd write an opening instead of beginning the first chapter, because I need some way to add more detail in places where it doesn't fit in with the rest of the chapters.
I've done some research/quiz taking on Mary Sues, and I began to get a better understanding of them. (And I found the origin and where it got its name... Ha ha... that was a funny story...) And, my character is, according to all of the quizzes, not a Mary Sue. I'm so happy, woo hoo.

But, actually, that's not what this is about. It's really about the people who seem to enjoy saying characters are Mary Sues for God knows what reason.
Soo then... I think I'll start first with what I think a Mary Sue is. C: A Mary Sue is a character that's basically average-looking, but is still "pretty". And all of the girls think she's awesome. And all of the boys hit on her. And she falls in love with one of the boys and they end up together with barely any problems. And she's funny, and nice, and cute, and stuff.
Now I feel like pointing out flaws with random accusations that a certain character is a Mary Sue.
- "More than one boy likes her."
Okay, that MIGHT lead to the character being a Mary Sue, but it doesn't necessarily. It could be some sort of love triangle that brings about drama in an interesting way. Or something. Or, in one of my examples: Boy1 is in love with Girl1, but is too shy about it, and it's likewise with her. Boy2 thinks Girl1 is insane toward the beginning of the story, but later has a crush on her, and then finally realizes he loves her as a sister. Boy3 also has a crush on Girl1, but he is abusive toward her and doesn't take her feelings seriously.
...Yeah... let's go with that. xD On to the next....
- "The way they're introduced..."
Hmm, well, this is as in one of my stories, so here it goes: I'm sorry I tried something different from what other fanfiction writers did. I'm sorry they don't completely "fit in". Not really much to say, however... Introductions, in my opinion, are overrated and not very important.
- "____ should have a more average name./___? That's a ridiculous name!"
...
Honestly.
Not as though names matter all that much, anyway, but: I'm also so very sorry for not knowing many "normal" names. It's all my fault, I had to pick a school that is mostly made up of immigrants or children of immigrants, so most people don't have normal names-- so, in turn, I barely know any normal names. Shall I name one of my characters "Mary" and the other "Sue"? No, I think I'd rather stay with their "weird/ridiculous" names so they're set apart from the other characters and everyone thinks they're weird. I like that better.
- "They should look more average."
Oh, no. No no no no no. You've absolutely GOT to be kidding. If they looked average, they'd most likely be normal, and I wouldn't write a story about them if they were normal, now would I? What's the fun in that? Anyway, in most stories, the relatively normal characters are unimportant and don't really do anything. =/ AND, OH MY, IT IS SUCH A HORRIBLE SIN TO FEATURE A CHARACTER WHO DIED HER HAIR CRIMSON. I should be sued. (HA HA, it's a bad, unintentional pun! ) And a good character NEVER has grey eyes. No, no. And, apparently, since all characters that are pretty are clearly Mary Sues, I'm not allowed to make a character beautiful.
- "They're too perfect."

I wouldn't call it "perfect" because they don't like to insult people or use sarcasm. Sorry for making my character so nice.
And, also, people seem to enjoy condemning characters as Mary Sues or just generally bad characters when they barely know anything about them. The first chapter of one of my stories was reviewed, partly saying that it's "safe to guess it's a Mary Sue, even though it's so short"(<-- not exact quote). Well, if the character barely said or did anything in that part, how d'you know so much about them? BUT IT GETS WORSE. I read another fanfiction, and almost all of the reviews of the first chapter stated that the character was a Mary Sue, because she was beautiful, she had a "rediculous" name (which I quite liked and wish I could change my name to...), and because one of the characters "immediately fell in love with her" -cough-because wanting to rescue somebody means you're in love-cough-. AND THE CHARACTER HADN'T SPOKEN A SINGLE SYLLABLE.
