SO I hit 1600 pageviews, awesome....

In personal news. my boyfriend is about to be deployed to either Iraq or Afghanistan, they keep changing the location on him. He's almost done his training in Oklahoma and should be leaving at the end of the week. I'm going out there for 2 nights and a day before he leaves, to spend some much-needed alone time.

I am also collecting dvds to send to him while he's overseas, to give out to the troops. When his sisters were deployed overseas, they told him dvds helped pass the time between convoys and missions, and Danny (my boyfriend) said even in pre-deployment training the guys watch dvds all the time....and some do karaoke, go figure.

Check out the MySpace page I set up for it, [link] to find out more. I have a list of what's pledged to send already, and I just got some more from my sibs and home to send.....but more dvds are always appreciated and so is money to send them.....feel free to donate

Yay, I got to 1400 pageviews! Now that may not seem much to some people, but every milestone is important to me. I've been slacking on the artwork lately out of sheer laziness, but no more. I got some really great old photos of family members enlarged and I'd like to do a series of drawings and/or paintings from those. I also spongepainted my bathroom, and dyed my hair red and highlighted it...do those count as artistic endeavors?!? Hahaha...

As bacteria have grown increasingly resistant to standard antibiotics, scientists have begun a desperate search for alternatives to the drugs. In one promising approach, they are trying to harness viruses that naturally evolved to prey on harmful bacteria and to use them as weapons for staving off intruders.

That may sound like a new idea, but it is a revival of an ancient remedy. Therapies that use bacteria-eating viruses - bacteriophages, or just phage for short - have been part of traditional cures for centuries in India, and they have been practiced in the former Soviet Union for decades.

They have yet to be properly tested on people, and some researchers are skeptical about unleashing a self-replicating virus into a patient's bloodstream.
