I want to buy a Wacom tablet, but I don't know which one to get.

Here's my questions that I hope you all can answer (as much as you can):

-What kind of tablet variations are there? Are there specific kinds for a specific type of style? (eg. drawing vs. photo editing)

-What's kind of tablet do you use and why?

-Because I'm a first time user, should I buy the best, or stick with a less expensive one first time?

-Is the Cintiq21ux the ONLY tablet that allows you to see your image on the actual tablet?

-Or do they all do that?

-How much money is TOO much money for one?

-And lastly, how will I know which one works best for me?

I got critiqued on my 8 series summer project today, so I should get them back soon. Then, I'll upload them onto here! I'm so proud of them! (Most of them, anyways... )

NOW...as I was hanging them up for the entirity of upper classmen to stare at and silently critique (ooh, scary!), a senior stopped me and began to tell me how much she enjoyed my work! She loved it so much, she wants me to design the art for a tattoo she was going to get!

She's getting her entire arm done, and she wants MY fantasy art all over it! Faires and satyrs and other mythical creatures! I'M SO EXCITED!!!!

I wanted to experiment and change the resolution (I had no idea I could do this) from something like 680x420 *or w/e that smaller setting is* to the wallpaper size *1600x1400 or something like that...lol*

My problem is that I LOVE this picture, but it looks so big when I upload it onto my computer. I'd rather have it a smaller size.

IS THERE ANY WAY TO CHANGE THE RESOLUTION TO THE SMALLER SETTING AFTER THE PICTURE WAS TAKEN?

For example:

I just took about 40 different photos of cherries in a sundae glass, some macro with water droplets on them *cliche, but I've always liked those kinds of macros*, some a scene as if the glass were knocked over and the cherries spilling out, others of it sitting upright, some on the sides of the glass like it's overflowing. AND NONE OF THEM LOOK AMAZING!

Sure, they look good, but I wish the colors were more vibrant, the lighting better, and I can't for the life of me make them look professional... TT_TT

How does she get a solid background like that? The lighting? The bubbles on his fruit? I need to know!

's picture here is really nice too! [link] Look at the surface it's on, the background is blurred, such bright, yet soft lighting. HOW?

I guess my question is just...how do you get the pictures to turn out so well...? I keep trying, but they're never as good. I go and edit them in Photoshop CS3 and they still don't turn out well... I don't know what to do, or even where to begin to get that good. Maybe I should just stick to scenery photos...or no photos at all.

It's been bothering me how much closer it's getting, being older, being a junior...so much to worry about...

I have to start preparing for college, I have to understand what I have to do to get into college, I have to earn enough money to go to college, I have to decide where I want to go, what I want to do, where will I live, what kind of job I have to get, how I'll fit in time for my job, my role as an art student, how much time I can devote to my art homework, then how much time I have left for my academic work, but I have to do my chores first every day, so that leaves barely any time, and I have to worry about what little social life I have, and Luke and his foreign exchange girl living in his house, making the moves eventually, and how I have this big project due and I know I should be working on it instead of pouring out my worries, but instead have a bum hand that won't work, and my ideas are crap, nd...and... I'm freaking out!!! I'm so scared! I don't know what to do, where to start, with ANYTHING!!! Will I have an apartment? Will I live on campus? I won't have any friends...will I pass my SATs? What do I do about health insurance? Car insurance? Taxes? Deductables? Voting? Bills, bills, bills... Rent? Where can I find someone that will hire a photographer? I have grey hair already. I'm so anxious, I'm sleep deprived...I'm frightened...and I can't draw worth a shit...

Please help me.

I do a lot of anime with adorable, big eyed chibi faces. So I decided to change my project to "Baby Mythological Creatures"...

SO...my big question to all of you experienced artists- was this a mistake? I don't even know baby anatomy...do any of you? Is it harder than the usual anatomy? Should I just change my pictures to chibis, even though it's a 300 point project? Or should I do a BUNCH of research on baby anatomy?

I'm so worried because I can't figure it all out! It'll probably be really complicated to turn a baby into anime...let alone make it even look like a baby.

I have a summer project for art to do, which involves drawing mythological creatures!

My only problem: my animals look similar.

What I have-

5. Pegasus

7. Phoenix
8. Dragon

Now, I want to keep the satyr, centaur, asrai, siren, dragon, and phoenix. But I'm worried about the elf and pegasus. The elf because she'd be an archer, and my centaur will already be an archer. And female. And the asrai is a pretty, magical female just like an elf...
The pegasus I'm worried about because I already have a centaur...you know, horse body?

So I need two replacement animals to do. Do you have any suggestions? I'd love some!

Gah! I love them! Randomly today in study hall, I had opened my sketchbook, bored out of my mind, and I was thinking about my second Spyro the Dragon game that I own. *I was playing it a few weekends ago with my friend Kat*. I thought about some of my favorite levels, and I remembered the one with Satyrs and the girl Elora who gave me my guidebook, and I remember her saying "I'm a fawn, you dork." lol. So then it was like BAMMMM!!!!!

I was like, "Satyrs are cool. I'm going to draw one!" And it started out wonderful! I have to finish it, and start drawing them more. I love mythological creatures.


For those of you who don't know what Satyrs are, you can Wikipedia them. But if you're lazy, I can just tell you a brief thing about them.

Satyrs originate from Greek mythology, being half man, half goat. Satyrs are only one gender, though- male. Which brings me to my next beautiful favorite.
Fawns are the female forms of Satyrs, but instead are half woman, half deer. They mate with Satyrs.
Both species *which are very similar* enjoy playing instruments, such as pan flutes, castanettes, and bagpipes. Younger, adolescent satyrs and fawns are very much into alcohol and sex. As they age, they lose the desire for alcohol, but the sex drive never leaves. That's not why I like them though... XD
Many greek painters made satyrs and fawns an ideal picture to put on their wine glasses. Usually, though, the satyrs were depicted with erections...ew...
ANYWAYS, they're beautiful creatures and I now love them. *Not as much as Phoenixes, though*

Enough is enough. How dare she come in, steal one of my friends, start rumors, and stab people in the back because she's jealous?

...It's because she's lonely. She isn't happy with her life. So she resorts to severe drama to make sure the attention is on her, and then she'll be happy. Until then, she'll do anything she can to wreak havoc in the entire school until it's too late to realize that soon enough, she'll only be left with her pitiful, miserable, bitchy, and most importantly, lonely self.

She's drowning in her own misery and it's her fault.

Of course she wont' show it. She's too proud. But she's severely hurting. And the only way she can find some relief is by torturing others and starting drama. Then, the focus is on her for just some small amount of time. That pleases her, but it's not enough, and she knows it. She wishes to be like someone else, and she's so jealous that she doesn't even realize that if she just changed her attitude, people would be her friend. But she doesn't. She's too caught up in her own soapopera.

Well I've had enough Real Life Degrassi, thanks. No more bullshit.

I want to be able to take a picture where it's like a macro, but the view is from farther away. I want to see a pretty good amount of a person and have the background be extrememly blurry, so it's just circles of colors and lights behind them because it's so out of focus. But my camera won't do that. The more I back away from the person or object, the blurrier the entire shot becomes! Gah!

Also, I want a macro shot to come out where if I try to get close to a bug or a plant, I want to be able to zoom in and get the detail that I want to without being so close to the object that my lens is practically touching it. I don't want to zoom in and see half of my picture be one flower petal just to get detail. I want a really clear picture, one that has details and I can get a pretty shot.

I guess what I'm ranting about is...is there a camera like that which is really good, and is there a place where I can maybe get it at a decent price?

I still don't think I've been this happy. I really mean it. Luke and I have been together for almost 9 months now. NOW I KNOW YOU'RE ALL LIKE "OMG, THAT'S SO SHORT! YOU'RE SUCH A GIRL!" But I'm serious! I've just...everything is great. My art is wonderful, life at home isn't as irritating, my grades have been up, and we've been perfect. Just yesterday, I was over at his house, and you know what? We did nothing. We actually enjoyed each other's company. Not that we do nothing every time I'm over, but we didn't play games, or watch TV. No...we lied down on the couch and snuggled. We stayed there...and were content. He kissed me tenderly, lovingly, on my lips and cheeks and forehead. He held my hand, and he looked at me. He took my face in his one hand and told me he loved me. Not just the "I love you" he says to me at night before bed, or in the morning at school before classes. It was different. "I love you so much, Brandi, my life, my love, my everything...". His eyes were so soft and full of meaning. ...GAH! It was just amazing! Wonderful! Lovely! Perfect! He loves me! LOVES ME! Loves me loves me loves me loves me loves me loves me loves me!!! Luke loves me! lol

It seems so right with him, you know? He treats me with respect, takes care of me when I'm sick, reminds me he loves me decently *not too much, not too little*, and no one has ever been more special to me. I love him dearly. He is my everything, and I know what you're thinking, all you older people. "You'll never stay together. You don't know what love is yet" blah blah stuff. Well, I can tell you right now. There's no definition of love. The dictionary doesn't cover how you feel, how you act. You could fill that entire dictionary with what love's like and not be done with the explanation, because here's the kicker, it's indescribable and different for everyone. I love him. I know I do. And he loves me back. That's a fact as well. I can tell. I have no doubts in him, as well as with loving him. ...He's so wonderful...

You can find both of these on YouTube.

One is called "Mouse". The anime from what I've seen *I've only watched the first few minutes of the anime, because it didn't interest me too much*, is about 3 superhero women who are after some guy who's name is Mouse. But I should warn you- it's not for the younger children. There's naked women, and even the opening theme is quite provocative, considering you see bouncing boobs, and their nipples, and asses and such.


The next one is called "Karin". The manga is called "Chibi Vampire". It's about a girl who's family are vampires. While they drink blood, karin is quite a peculiar vampire. Yes, she has a craving for a certain kind of blood, but when she becomes "hungry", she bites someone and pours her own blood into their body, causing for some strange effects. It's very cute, and DEFINATELY for Tokyo Mew Mew fans. You'll love it!


The last one is on TV right now, and is being continued in Japan currently, so we'll defienately have this one for a few more years. It's called "Hell Girl", and is on the channel IFC (Independent Film Channel). It's about a girl who's become the death angel almost for the devil. When someone has a problem, and wishes a person to die, they access a website that is only able to be found at exactly midnight. There, they type in the name of the person they want to die, and hit "Send". The next day, Hell Girl arives to them and hands them a colored doll. Depending on which of her accomplicing spirits decides to help her that day, the doll has a different color, but the same effect. The instructions are when that person wishes for the hated person to die, they simply pull the red string from the straw doll's neck, and Hell Girl takes them away, across the long lake in a ferry to Hell. The only catch is that, when the person dies after their natural life, they too must spend eternity in Hell. Each person who agrees is marked with a black flame tattoo-like symbol on their chest.

Quite an interesting show.



I like them all, except for the Mouse anime. But the themesong gets stuck in my head. lol


And W00T! I finally got a cosplay outfit for comicon! If anyone bothers to watch Karin like I told you *Not to b confused with another anime with the name karin in it as well*, then the outfit looks similar to Anju's, karin's little sister!

It's been BUGGING THE CRAP OUT OF ME that I don't know this character's name.

She's basically a female version of a joker. In fact, she's even associated with the Joker. She's like his lover or something. They had a child together, too!

She wears a full body suit that's green and black *apparently, it can be red and black as well* and at the top of her head, attatched to the suit, is what appears to be your usual joker hat- like a jester! It has the two points that stick out on the sides and they have little bells at the end of them. And she has a mask around her eyes. It's black and looks masquerade-esque.

Do any of you know her name???

01. What is your pen name?
It's Brandi, but I always use the hiragana symbols instead of english letters. You can see it in a block form if you look at my picture of Luna, my joker girl.

02. What made you choose this name?
I was born with it... but I love Japan. Not like just because of anime, but I love the culture and everything. So I changed it to that.

03. Do you use PC or Mac?
PC Windows Vista

04. What programs do you use most often?
I wish I could use photoshop, but I don't own it. lol ^-^;; ;; I just draw.

05. Do you use mouse, or tablet?
Neither.

06. What color or color combinations do you find yourself using most often?
I like a lot of pencil work, but when using colors, I love blues and purples, but if I'm in a mood, I like oranges and reds. Mostly blues and purples though.

07. What part of a picture do you put most effort into?
I usually put most effort into the body shape and flexability, but I love to work on the eyes. I dispise hands, but when I get them jsut right, I'm happy.

08. How long does it take you do draw a picture?
Depends on the picture. I've been doing a really detailed drawing of a horse skull, and I've been working on it since last Friday, and at 3 hours a day... that's 12 hours. *I take breaks on weekends*

09. Do you keep your rough drafts?
lol Yeah.

10. What font do you use most often?
Comic sans, when I can. But I like Pegasus, too.

11. When you scan your image, what DPI do you use?
I don't know what that means.....

12. Do you do anything else when you're drawing?
I always have the same ritual: listen to music on my zune, drown everything else out, have a soda next to me, and my led pencil, and get to work! *sometimes, honestly, I'll take a break and dance to random anime themes*

13. Approximately how many pictures do you draw in a month?
Uhm....... I'd say maybe 2 really good ones, but other drawings, maybe 3. Photography is always going. Depends on if it's a good day or not.

14. What kind of paper do you draw your pictures on?
I use Strathmore 9x12" recycled paper, as well as Strathmore 18x24" drawing paper. Sometimes we use Charcoal paper, for our Conte drawings.

15. What kind of paper do you use for rough sketches and drafts?
Biggie Newsprint, and trace paper.

16. How long does it take you to ink something?
Well, if you mean by inking, you just do linework, then maybe an hour tops.

17. Do you do comics, or fan comics?
I used to, but not so much anymore.

18. Do you like comics? Are they fun to make?
Making comics is hard work. We had to do it last year, and I spent months on the frames for each scene. But in the end, they're cute. It's a little fun making your own characters.

Da Vinci, for anatomy, and the artist who makes the anime "LOVELESS". They do beautiful art. Also, Emperpep, Nefis, Jocarra, peggyly, Bumblescutt, and azuzephre.

Yes! It's my major!

Yeah. lol Comics, I LOVE Marvel. Stan Lee is amazing. I love X-Men, ESPECIALLY JEAN GREY!! Elektra is cool too. I like the Marvel women characters. My favorites are Jean Grey, Elektra, Invisible Woman, Spider woman, Black Cat, and Emma Frost. Also, the PSYCHONAUT series. I LOOOOOOOOOOOVVVVVEEEE Pshychic Powers!

Yeah, mostly during the summer. I love the Twilight Series as well as Harry Potter. I need to find a new series. I lvoe Calvin and Hobbes, as well as manga, too.

Yeah, I got some for Christmas. "How To Draw Manga", two books witht that title, one by Ben Krefta, and one by Ben Dunn. ALSO!! For art class, two required texts were "Drawing from Observation", and "An Atlas of Anatomy for Artists".
