Well here it is anyway

So I'm still in HK, semi-enjoying my summer... I've been "working" in a lab at a uni, following a PhD student around. It's really quite relaxed. I've got no pay but my dad drives me each morning as he's a professor there, and he pays for my lunch, so it's all good! haha

My driving exam is on thursday. Eek! I'm still a bit shit at driving so I'm having a few extra lessons these couple of days. Hopefully it'll turn out alright!

Since the fact that I had swine flu is on public record, the medical charity, Red Cross, called me and asked me to donate my swine flu resistant blood. So I'm getting my blood tested after my driving exam and if it's ok I'll be donating some! Being a nerdy biomedical science student I am finding this pretty cool. : P Not sure how it'll help though; I didn't really listen when the lady was talking on the phone. I think it's for people who are in serious condition??

Also. I'm happy I reached 2000 pageviews!

5. London cab drivers scare me and I get stressed out about the fact that they don't like to give you your change. Instead, they pretend to rummage for coins until you give up and bugger off. So sneaky!
6. I love sushi. The salty and fishy kind, AND the tasteless and slimy/chewy kind! Yummmmmmmmm. Don't hate.
7. I have quite a bipolar personality. For example. I like minimalist black and white things, but also love pink glittery girly things. It's a tough choice!!
8. I am a decision-phobe. When we order takeaway my friends don't even bother to ask me what I want anymore.
9. I spent a year having fun in uni and ended up with a chipped tooth, swine flu and tinnitus.
10. Being a freelance graphic designer is my dream job, but since I might live under a bridge if I went down that route I'll probably end up doing some sort of scientific research.

I thought it was normal flu, and I was getting better when the test results came back.
So now my whole family is taking the same medicine as me, just in case!

Due to the safety regulation thingymabobs my trip to japan is postponed for a few days; I'm going to join my sister & co in tokyo late. At least I do get to go afterall!

I feel like a zombie/Gregor Samsa around the house; everyone's afraid to have contact with me. I have to wipe the surfaces with antibacterial wipes whenever I use the bathroom. I've been spending most my time in the bedroom, eating and sleeping and coughing and watching tv and surfing the net. Oh, and to make this slightly more dA related, I have been mucking around with photoshop too. Not much. And I finally got CS4 after over a year of PS7! LOL! It's great. All the different upgrades make me so hyped up. Not to mention the fact that I can now use alll the PS resources I find on dA

Another crap thing that happened this week is that I've been diagnosed with tinnitus, which is a permanent ringing in the ears and can be due to noice-induced damaged. I haven't done any proper tests yet but I KNOW that's the cause for me.
Well at least the hearing test showed I don't have tinnitus induced hearing loss, so that's one less thing to worry about. But no more rock concerts/parties/karaoke sessions for me. Can't believe I got it at such a young age. I'm going to spend most of my life getting aquainted with it.

Have any of you got tinnitus? I would love to hear how people cope with their tinnitus on a daily basis. It's something that plagues around 17% of the population, and can cause distress and a plethora of other effects, such as insomnia, because the ringing seems amplified in the silence of the night. Interestingly I can't find any support groups online. Maybe I just haven't been digging deep enough?

On the positive side of things, I've been able to spend some time by myself. I guess going out everyday for the past fortnight really took its toll huh. I'm realising that I really need to take better care of myself, be more disciplined. It's time to grow up; in fact, I worry I'm a little too late... I didn't mean for my first-year-at-uni recklessness to cause such permanent damage. Oh well, what's done is done; what I need now is positive thinking to not let the tinnitus define me and to get this swine flu over and done with!

All in all, it was amazing! I didn't take that many photos, but will upload them sometime soon hopefully nevertheless

Highlights of the day:
- Getting zemotion's autograph. I didn't know she'd be there! But after the mega group photo I just sorta attacked her with my pen and paper. And then I weakly said "I'm a huge fan..." But I'm not sure if she heard Anyways... she had a beautiful necklace and her hair was lovely. I asked her if she was staying to london for long and she was like no, she was leaving soon. And then I asked if she was just there for the meet and she said, she had a photoshoot.

- Finally deciding to sit down with a friendly-looking but still slightly intimidating bunch of people in the digital art group. And consequently making some new friends!

- When stranglet realised he had put his knee in a tray of soy sauce- "thank youuu wagamama " hahaha! I dunno I found it hilar.

- Listening in on the small group talk. I didn't catch much though, and I got distracted with eroha and vicki (devils-horizon)'s meercat impressions LOLOLOL. What I did hear about the new search enging sounded great though. Other than that I just stared at spyed a lot, in awe. He's got amazing blue eyes (shhhhhh don't tell...not that he'll ever see this! AHA might delete this point later) Ok how embarassing if they weren't actually blue. They looked blue to me.

- Chatting with Heidi : D She's gorg. Like in a natural glowing way. Chewing her bubblegum and stuff. I was a bit quiet though.

- Seeing spyed get his fuzz stroked by a lovely/eccentric hat man. You could see the mixture of expressions on his face as the deed was done. "Was it as good for you as it was for me?" What a trooper!

Oh man, everyone was so talented. And when eroha started going on about his random problems in photoshop such as the hand tool always cropping up and making him restart, and when dea1h said he could only draw one facial expression (or something along those lines), I was suddenly so delighted to be in such like-minded company. Weird innit?

And then I realised that a lot of us either draw faces, or wolves. I thought the digital art section would be like... graphic design! But hey, I'm not complaining.

Unfortunately I had to leave at about 6 to return to the good ol library for a spot of revision, but I was so hyped up for the rest of the day I didn't get much done. ARGH!

But you know what the devMEET reminded me?
I love art. In all forms. Always have, always will. : )

I can't wait for my exams to be over, then I have a week to go shopping/chill with my ps7 before returning back to HK for the summer!

Looking at other people's amazing artwork, I've become more determined to get better at photomanip and photography, and without DA I wouldn't have done so well on my latest submissions. They're still not that great, but I think I'm getting better! Maybe it's cause my exams begin tomorrow and I keep putting revision off, hehe! I am now addicted to photoshop, and I may end up on the streets after not getting my grades and being rejected by my uni, who knows.

Anyway, I couldn't be more grateful of deviants who took the time to make tutorials, textures and stock photos so that n00bs like me could actually know where to start. Thanks very much!

I think I'm gonna need to put my new found DA obsession on hold for two weeks, until my exams are over. I know that's probably not going to happen though, with my lack of will power! AHHHHH
