4.1. Senior Social Studies with the devil teacher from Hell (apparently, from what I've heard). She seems fine enough, it's just her voice that makes me want to drills holes into my head, literally.

5. AP Senior Literature. The teacher reminds me of a young Ellen DeGeneres (NO THAT DOES NOT MEAN SHE'S LESBIAN SINCE I'VE ALREADY BEEN ASKED THAT LIKE NINE THOUSAND TIMES TODAY) in looks and humor. So, she's awesome.

6. Teaching Academy. Since dumb (okay, awesome) Mrs. Muehlenbruch had to have a stupid (okay, cute) baby, we have a sub who will be turning, get this, TWENTY-THREE at the end of the month. Oh my crap are you kidding me. But I guess she seems pretty professional-ish so dat's coo.

And I just realized that 5/6 of my teachers are female, which is like the exact opposite of last year, wtf. xD

While this was going on, Matt noticed that Tank's teeth were in terrible shape and had awful tarter on the back teeth, which could lead to really bad health problems. His front legs were also still shaking, like something was broken inside them. It was becoming pretty obvious that this didn't just happen because some dumb kid wasn't taking care of him, though that ws obvious too, given how fast Tank ate and drank everything. This had been happening for a while, and was a clear case of neglect or abuse.

So, we drove Tank over to his house (which took a lot of effort because it was hard to move him, wwe didn't want to touch his legs and cause him more pain), and brought him into the backyard. We looked around but we didn't see any food sources, and the only water was in a dirty old bucket. Rhonda went and tracked down the kid and brought him over to talk to him. The kid said that the owners had left food in the shed, but there wasn't any, and he didn't have their number so he didn't know what to do. He had also been the one who had left the gate open that left Tank out in the first place. So, all in all it was a very bad situation. We brought over some more food for Tank and a clean water bowl, and told the kid that he needed to do his job and we'd be back to check up on him.

By the time we found Tank the Humane Society was closed, but we're calling them first thing in the morning and having someone from there come over and look at him, because that poor dog was not being treated right at all. I would be shocked if they didn't take him away. I think that would be bes, anyway. Tank is such a sweet, loveable dog, he'd have no trouble at all finding a new home with people who will actually love him and care for him. Heck, I'd take him myself but we couldn't have a dog, no one is home enough to care for a high-maintenance animal. Minnie Mac's good for us because she just sleeps all day, and she's so independant. I'll update when we find out what happens, and if he gets put up for adoption. I just wanted to share this because I can't believe how people will treat their animals. If you can't take care of one, put him up for adoption, don't neglect him. Anyway...just needed to get that out. Man, people really piss me off sometimes.

Anyway, STORY TIME.
When I went to buy a car, guess who came with me?
Well, Samwell, sure...but also my parents.
WITH AN "S."
LIKE, BOTH MY PARENTS AT THE SAME TIME TOGETHER. LIKE A FREAKING FAMILY.
See, Mom used to be a used care salesperson and Dad is a chicken so he said, "Um, let's get your mom to go with us." Because he hates haggling and Mom's got more balls than all of us put together.

We went and picked Mom up and I was worried I was going to be weirded out but we were playing oldies music and I was in the back seat with both my parents in the front seat and they were talking about times they had bought cars together and times Mom had scared car salespeople (realize these guys were married for like twenty-five years or something) and they were laughing and it was so much like the good ole days I almost cried. If Amy and Kelly had been there too, I probably would have.
And it was magnificently unawkward.

When we got there and found the car and waited around for the car dealer (Rhonda's brother, coincidentally, who was kind of an asshole) we were all joking about the place and about Rhonda's brother and my mom was cussing about the people there and making Dad laugh and honestly I hadn't heard Dad laugh that much in a long time. He just seemed so...normal. Like my old dad. He is so much of a better person around my mom. I swear, Rhonda's changed him, and I don't like it. I really hope he doesn't marry her, I at least hope he finds someone cooler, someone more like Mom.

I never was the kind of kid who moped around after their parents got divorced, hoping and pining and living in Parent Trap-esque fantasies. I know they couldn't make it as a married couple. But days like those makes me wish things would have worked out. I'm not naive, I know it wouldn't work out. But it was still nice to feel so normal for a while. Mom even told me after we got home later that she hopes we can do stuff like that again as a family. I hope so, too, if anything to have Dad be like my old dad more often. Even if not, I can still remember that day.

So, la dee da life. Orientation on Monday. Am I the only one dreading growing up?

At least, this is better than that July we had. Seriously, WTF was that about?

My school sent out its summer newsletter yesterday with all the necessary info/paperwork for orientation (Being a senior with a last name in the A-H range, I have to be there at seven AM, woohoo!). I got the info I need for a parking permit, the yearbook, and a senior sweatshirt...but not the enrollment card, the most important part and the only thing that lets you get all the rest of the stuff, including my schedule. The newsletter even said the enrollment card was supposed to be included with everything else. So, now I'm going to have to bike down to my elementary school today and see if I can't just grab one from there, they're all the same, anyway. Because I reeeeally don't want to have to bike all the way to my high school.
I wish my dad would get off his lazy rear and take me to go get a car. I had one bookmarked for the longest time and bugged him every day about it for a month, but he kept putting it off and now the car's gone. And it was pretty much the perfect one, so now I have to find a new one and it's not going to be nearly as good. It was a 2004 Subaru Legacy for $8,000, but because it had a little higher mileage than usual, Mom (who used to be a used car saleswoman) said we could knock off another thousand at least. So, it was perfectly priced and perfect for all the criteria my dad was looking for, plus it was close by. But since he's so fixed on an AWD, Subarus are pretty much my only option for a used car, plus for some reason he's absolutely fixed on a non-wagon Legacy, no earlier than 2003 and no more than $10,000. I've widened the search to within 200 miles of here and there's still absolutely nothing like that, which I've tried telling him, but he doesn't care. And I NEED a car for Teaching Academy, so this really sucks. Grrr. Rant over.

Anyhoo, Minnie Mac had a lovely birthday and tomorrow I'm going to the EMP with some beloved family friends. Now, I'm going to try again to look for a vehicle. Oy.

I sure do love my Minnie Mac.

We got her a special salmon feast to celebrate and right now she's cuddling in my lap. (: Precious girl! She certainly doesn't act a day over four. And she's got about every factor in the world going for her to live much longer in a healthy way, such as:

Gender: female cats tend to live longer than males.
Sexuality: She's been spayed since she was six weeks old, so she has a reduced exposure to disease.
Diet: She eats a healthy balance of dry and wet food, and her dry mix has been updated to senior status, so she's getting all the proteins she needs for her age.
Living conditions: She's a mostly indoor cat, and she usually only goes outside for a couple hours at a time every day to get exercize and fresh air.
Medical attention: We've never neglected her checkups, and though she's had a few digestive problems before with worms and such, Minnie Mac has otherwise always been given a clean bill of health. (:

So, I'm not worried as she nears that first decade, not at all. I'm expecting many more years with my sweet, active, healthy, wonderful baby girl. ^^

PS: So, I have to vent about my dad's douche-y-ness for a second.

He was raised with his brother and sister by a dad who was the star of the football team and an all-around manly man. Naturally, he expected his sons to be the same way and forced this lifestyle on them, mostly neglecting my dad's sister in the meantime. My dad's brother, luckily, raised his own kids differently. My dad, on the other hand, turned out the same as his own dad.

It started with Amy, Kelly, and me. Since, of course, girls can't do anything worthwhile, me and amy were mostly left alone by Dad, which worked out juuuust fine, trust me. But Kelly was going to be his golden boy, his pride, his little football star. Kelly was actually into the sport, luckily enough, but then he didn't go to college and did his own thing, and Dad was disappointed. So now he's turning all his star-making attentions on Sam twice as much, which is just awful for Sam.

Sam loves the violin, acting, leadership class, and writing plays. Those are his honest and true passions. His grades are very important to him. He likes running, but on his own time and for fun. He hates P.E. and being told when to exercize, and how. He hates getting himself hurt. He's a small kid. How do you think football would suit him?
Not well at all.

Of course, Dad doesn't give a shit, because he only has one son left, and dammit he is going to have a star. Because he can't be proud of any son that isn't a fucking tightwad jock, just like his own fucking dad.

And now, what really pisses me off, is he's got Sam thinking he's got to "prove himself," to "make a man" out of himself. Those are his honest words. And poor Sam is really feeling the pressure, because Dad's always been so hard on him, and he's thinking maybe if he does this one thing maybe Dad'll finally be proud of him.

What Sam doesn't understand is that he can never do enough to make his dad truely proud, because that's just the kind of jerk our dad is, always expecting more and better, never about to give a real compliment. He'll never be satisfied with anything we do, even if Sam became the next Shaun Alexander. Which is why I gave up long ago trying to impress my dad with anything. I've adapted a pretty good "fuck you" sort of attitude without ever really having to say it. Dad has noticed this attitude, which is why whenever Sam agrees with anything I say, he tells Sam to quit listening to me, to "think for yourself, Sam."

Which is complete bullshit, because what do you think my dad is doing? Shoving his own thoughts and expectations down Sam's throat! It's not that he wants him to be a free-thinker, he just doesn't want him to end up like his "dangerous" sister. He honestly has fucking called me that, I am not shitting you.

So, when Sam came to me and Mom one day not too long ago and said that he wanted to play football, without any of the enthusiasm he had when he told us he wanted to try out for the school play, we knew exactly what was really up. And today me and Sam took a nice, long walk outside and talked about it, about not having to prove yourself to anyone and doing what made you happy, not anybody else. And then he was quiet for a while, and then admitted that he wasn't really the one with the big idea about football. Big fucking surprise, I thought, and I truthfully told him what would happen if he put his foot down and told his dad that he didn't want to play. I told him that Dad would be disappointed, probably angry, would probably try and talk him into it, probably tell him a bunch of bullshit about how he wouldn't get hurt and the like. Sam understood, but was ready to stand up to him. Good for him.

However, I looked up information about his junior high's schedule today, and it turns out he couldn't do football even if he wanted to! His practices would've started at the same time, the same exact time, as his summer leadership program, which he has already signed up for a long time ago and was really excited about. So, I guess Dad can't be mad anyway! Which is great, because Sam hates being challenged by his dad, and can get really defensive and angry, which only fuels Dad more. He LOVES it when we get mad at him, and he knows just where to pick to make us bleed more. My neighbor friend, Lauren, has soccer camp for three days next week and needs rides. I'm going to be out of town next week and can't do it, but maybe you can?

On Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday next week you'd need to pick her up at 9:00 AM, bring her to Rogers High School, then bring her back home at 3:00 PM. Her mother would pay you $20 each day, making it a total of $60 for the whole week.

She lives near me in the Ridgecrest/Military/Shaw Road area. If you think you can drive her one of the days or two or even all three (much preferred), please please please please please message me back or call me to let me know. This would be a humongous favor to me and in addition to the $60 her mom will give you I'll find a way to pay you back somehow, just let me know.

Me and Kyle played Solitaire a lot and he has his own rules for the manual version, including getting to look at each card individually, and making unlimited spots for kings, and getting to put things other than kings in those spots. I asked him if that was cheating, and he told me, "Yeah! You're SUPPOSED to cheat. That's Kyle rules."
And that's why I love him so much.
Well, one of the reasons.

Little Tare-Bear is still as tempermental as ever, but she still does have her sweetheart moments and at least now she's more articulate about what she wants, even if her want are screamed at you. This morning she was being particularly fussy and I picked her up so so she wouldn't hurt herself while she was thrashing around, and I asked if she wanted something to eat, to which she replied, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Then I asked if she wanted to read a story, to which she replied, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" Then I asked her if she wanted me to put her down, to which she replied, "NOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!" After the threat of setting her down (gasp), she immediately went into sleepy mode, in which she sets her head on my shoulder and sucks her thumb, and after a few minutes of gathering her thoughts or whatever she was all better. What a silly baby.

In any case, though, next week I'll be up there for a full week while their parents are off on a magical adventure. Whee!

OH AND IN ME NEWS.
I finished all my drives last week, so I can offically sign up to take the big test and get my license, which hopefully I'll do this week. Exciting whee!

Me and my little girl cousins performed a comedic skit called "Ice Fishing" for which we won Most Creative.
The Brown Trio (my little brother and his two boy cousins that are his age) plus Zach performed "Odor in the Court II" (which apparently has become a family tradition), a coutroom dramedy involving a murder most "foul" and framing various people for the gaseous crime. They won Most...Unique.
Sam and Wyatt (they are now a duo band called the Brotherly Cousins) performed "Sweet Home Alabame" with guitar, violin, and vocals.
My Aunt Tiffany sang a beautiful song that I forget the name of...I need to ask her. She's an AMAZING singer.
My cousins Hannah and Piper sang "I Love Rock and Roll" with pretty much everyone on backup vocals and Wyatt on guitar.
The Cavanaughs re-wrote "My Favorite Things" to be about our family, which was hilarious.
Then my cousin Rachel and her daughter Georgia closed things with a Smith Family Mad Libs, and...well, you know how mad libs can get. There was accidental incestuousness ("Zach decided to snuggle up with Rachel..."), child molestation ("Everyone lined up from youngest to oldest and waited for Michael Jackson to come...*"), child drunkeness ("Shannon poured herself another martini..."), and excess tabasco sauce consumption, which I don't even need to give an example of.
All the kid acts won prizes, but I don't remember them all.

So, it was fantastico and I can't wait to see these folks again. (:

A big thing is my mother broke her collarbone and now has frozen shoulder. [link] It's an awful condition. D: So, I've been doing most of the work around the house now, as well as the driving, and my mom can't help when we're babysitting anymore, because she can't hold the kids or reach for dishes/food or anything like that, so I'm pretty much on my own since Sam's scared of children or something, but it's good experience for when I'll have chitlens. She might even have to quit working, which would be devastating for us. It really sucks for her, but I've been stepping up so that helps a little bit, but it's a really painful situation and I wish there was something more I could do.

Also, wtf's with the celebrity bloodbath? D: My mom's especially sad since she lost two childhood icons (Farrah and Michael) in one day. This better stop.
Also, June 29th was ALL CAPS DAY in honor of Billy Mays. I hope you observed.

Coming up in life:

July 3-7: Family reunion! No communication with anyone but family those days. (: Me and Zach are planning some Ultimate Frisbee with cousins. Epicness! And me and all my girl cousins will be camping out in the same tent trailer thing. More epicness! And I am coming up with a great scary story for the scary story contest. Even more epicness! And my little brother and his boy cousins are going to perform "More Cowbell." WTF SO MUCH EPIC.

Week of July 11: Me and the other ERHS thespians are performing skits at the farmer's market for community service. Come and see!

July 18-19: My sissy is going to her high school best friend's wedding, and I will be watching the children.

July 25-August 1: My sissy and her husband are going on a cruise (?!?!?!?!?! the bastards!) and I will, again, be watching the children. For a whole week, wheeeee! Hopefully by then I'll have my license, so I can take them to the park and fun places like that. And I'm hoping to work on Kyle's potty training, too. He's almost there!

The rest of August: NOTHING! Let's plan something!

Kyle Nooz:
This kid is way too smart. We've been teaching him math now, and now he doesn't even need pictures to add and subtract! He doesn't even go to kindergarten for another year. Wow.
Also, he is wanting to learn another language, so we bought him some bilingual books, like "The Cat in the Hat," (or "El Gato Ensombrerado"), and he's asking what key phrases mean. What a smartypants. (:
Also, with him getting older there's another blessing: his bedtime routine has gotten much simpler. It used to be ten billion things that had to be done EXACTLY right or we'd start over. Now, we get his jammies & Pull-Up on, pick out stories, brush his teeth, get him a drink of water, read stories, get him in bed, let him listen to music for about a half hour, and that's it! Much less complicated than it was when he was three. Phew. Oh, but after I put him in bed and give him a kiss and hug, we have to say, "'Night! Love you! Love you so much! 'Night!"
As far as his interests go, his umpire daddy has been teaching him baseball tricks, and it's showing! He loves playing baseball and can call strikes and balls pretty well. Also, he's got a great swing! He hit one over the fence this weekend, heh heh. And he told me, "Now, when I fall down, you have to say 'SAFE'!" Bahaha.
And that's about all in recent Kyle nooz.

Taryn Nooz:
Ah, this baby. of course, she's littler, so she's developing faster and probably has even more nooz, we'll see.
First of all, new words! She can say Kyle, Mommy, and Daddy, though she still can't say Auntie and so says Nanny. It's still cute!
Foods she can say are Milk, Banana ("nana"), Apple, Crackers, Cheerios ("Cheeros"). Related to food, she can say More (which she signs along with, and as she says it she gets increasingly louder and shriller until you feed her. She generally even says this when she still has food!), and Done, though she usually doesn't even bother saying Done and just pushes her chair away from the table.
She can't exactly say Yes or No, but she can nod and shake her head which is cute.

See, the problem with high school is that essentially everyone dates, and so everyone expects that everyone dates. Being a member of an aforementioned high school, I am subject to this ruling, which is completely unfair. I don't date, I don't like people who date, I don't like the guy who invented dating.
It happened last year, actually. A guy asked me out with kind of the assumption that since EVERYONE dates and I am part of the big huge EVERYONE spectrum, that I would naturally accept. Here's basically how the conversation went:

Right now I'm desperately trying to figure a way out of at LEAST the third thing. Honestly, they can poke me with all the needles they want, I just DO NOT WANT that third thing. My main line of defense right now is praying with much fervor to the Period Goddess, that She may hold off my monthly gift until spring break, yea? Yea.

It's called "Cannibalism In The Cars" and is as awesome as it sounds. Essentially, a bunch of politicians are on a train ride from Alaska to Washington, D. C. but the train gets snowed in while they're still up north. They're completely stranded and have no food supply...except each other. Hilarity ensues.
It's based on a Mark Twain play, but we're updating the characters so that they're based on modern-day politicians. And I'm playing the lady in the middle of the front row in this picture:

I'm dead freaking serious. I get to portray her in a school production. Accent and all.
What a great source of humor she is, since she's good for nothing else except contributing to the overpopulation of the earth.
But yes...epicness will occur in great amounts.
Other politicians will include John McCain, Bill Clinton, Condoleeza Rice, Hillary Clinton, and a few others.
While we're keeping the first names of these politicians, we have to stick with Mark Twain's original last names. So I'll be Sarah "Van Nostrad", Mandi will portray Condoleeza "Adams" (not obvious at all lol), and so on.
It'll be the most fun ever had.

It was kind of like a much less extreme concentration camp, to be honest.
Maybe some of the prisoners actually did do something wrong, but what happens there is disgusting, and it makes me sick that people of my country ordered these things to happen. Most were sent there without trial, meaning there's probably a lot of innocent people about to be given proper trials and probably set free thanks to President Obama.
Needless to say I'm very happy about the events of the past few days, and looking forward to the progress we can make in the next four or (-crosses fingers-) eight years!

Actually, it's 3:20 right now, so exactly four years and ninety minutes.
Four years and ninety minutes ago I was anxiously pacing in the family waiting room at the hospital, when Mom came running out of Amy's room and said, "Come meet your nephew." Of course, I started bawling, and when I saw him he was the most beautiful baby I'd ever seen.
Though now that I think about it he was all wrinkly and a purple-orange-gray, and under different circumstances I would have probably been weirded out, though then of course it was just amazing.
And now it's four years later and Kyle's so big and beautiful and smart and amazing. I can't believe it. Time goes by so fast, I remember when he couldn't even lift his head and now he can count to five hundred and knows so many songs and can ride a Big Wheel like it's nobody's business.
Anyway, my shoutout to my favorite nephew* and I'm going to call him when he gets home from daycare to wish him a happy birthday.

So...interesting break.
I visited my cousins, which was fun.

The first day back at school wasn't so great. A sophomore at our school, Erin Ramsey, died on Christmas day. She was in my advisory family...it's such a strange feeling to be back but know that she's not. A lot of sophomores were having a hard time today, and it was just a really somber mood today, mixed in with the fact that I realized halfway through the day that Mike had been gone for seven years now, and I hate it when you just realize those things.
I hate it when young people die.

Anyway, I can't think of any way to sum up my thoughts so I'm going to finish getting ready for rehearsal.

Last night was the holiday choir concert. Woo! Mucho fun.
And in local news, we've been knee-deep in snow, ice, and holyshititisCOLD-kinda-cold for the past week, and it's not letting up until after the new year, apparently. Woo!
So no, I don't have school today. Ha. 8D
Which conveiniently allows me more time to work on the essay that was supposed to be due today...that I haven't started yet...yeah...

I have very important news everyone.
DRUM ROLL PLEASE!

Tare-Bear has taken her first steps!!
This happened on Saturday, where she took three whole steps. She's so brave, but once she took those steps se got so excited she fell over. But she's getting there! It's so exciting. 8D
Kyle's really happy about it, 'cause he loves being chased, and Taryn loves being involved in things. Usually I'll Superman-hold her while chasing Kyle, which she loves, but now if I hold her hand she can walk, and she likes to go as fast as she can after her big brother. It's so much fun.
Also in fourteen-month-old news, little Missy has said her third word...if you count this as a word.

Well, on Sunday morning we were eating breakfast and Taryn dropped her sippy on the ground. I said, "Uh oh!" and picked it up for her. Then a few minutes later she dropped it again, then she looked at me and said, "Uh oh!" It was so cool, I didn't mind that she kept dropping it just so I could pick it up and that she could keep saying her new word.

Kyle's so cute, and he LOVES the snow. The night it first snowed, all he wanted to do was sit by the window in his room and count snowflakes. And then of course there was getting him bundled up and going out to play. So much fun.

In less cheery news, I think I'm becoming resentful of Rhonda. We're going down to Astoria this weekend to visit with cousins, and I guess now that we're living with her she has to come with us. But it's so weird when she comes along with us to visit cousins. She acts like she knows them so well, like they're old chums, but she doesn't. It's just strange. I dunno. Maybe I'm just bitter. Step syndrome or something.

But otherwise, everything's jim dandy. "The Dark Knight," "Wall-E," and "Horton Hears A Who" are all out on video, so my life is fabulous in that aspect. And to answer you're question, I've already seen "TDK" twice on DVD.

The really bad news is that when my mom was at the hospital on Friday they found a precancerous tumor in her colon. They're running tests which'll take two weeks to get back. If it's nothing, they'll have to continue testing her to make sure mo more tumors form, and to make sure none of them become cancerous. If it is cancerous...well, it's cancerous.
This is awful, because I was just thinking the other day how grateful I was to have an amazing mom like her, and what I would ever do without her. I can't even imagine it...I'm trying to think optimistically, and hopefully the tests will come back clean, but if they don't...colon cancer is the second deadliest form of cancer, and it's a really scary thought.
Until we find out the test results, there's really nothing any of us can do but send out positive thoughts to the universe and pray if you believe in that sort of thing.
