It's been awhile since I've updated my journal, or been on dA at all, really. I was busy for awhile...but then I guess I started to slack off on taking photos. :/ I've started taking/uploading photos again though...which I've missed doing. :/ I appreciate all of the favorites, comments, pageviews, etc. since then though.

I recently deleted some of the photos in my gallery too (I didn't want them on my dA anymore) so I'm sorry to anyone that had added those photos to their favorites.

Anyways... I guess that's all the ranting I'll do in this journal... now a survey.

What's your favorite ornament hanging on your tree? I love the butterflies on our tree, the hearts, and the glass reindeer.

How did you discover DA? I had to do a photography book in high school, 4/5 years ago, and show the different effects you can get with photos...and dA lead me right to what I needed.

Your current newest deviation

What's it about? It's my nieces, holding hands and walking down the cemetery. I kind of wanted an adorable photo... but with a creepy feel to it- haha, if that makes sense.

Is it a picture, poem, photo, etc? photo. <3

Was it made with anyone in mind? Just my nieces.

How long did it take to do? Well...the photo only took a couple of seconds to take- but the whole getting my nieces ready (in their white dresses, in a good mood, in the cemetery, not complaining about the heat...) took a lot longer than that.

Was this a gift or no? My niece, the person in the photo, is an amazing gift... but I didn't take the photo as a gift to anyone else, really.

I like "I'm Really Rosie...", "I see you're transparent...", "Cold", "Stop Eating Animals IV", "Catch the Wind", "Makenzi / Makenzi II"... and more, haha. I'm really happy with most of my photos. I also did a doll series awhile ago, but I'm self conscious about uploading them... but they're also one of my favorites (if not my most favorite photos I've taken).

12) Work that took the longest?
A lot of my double exposures, "I'm Really Rosie..." and my "I see you're transparent" series. A lot of my nieces photos...especially the doll series (I've yet to post).

I think every artist that I've seen has probably influenced me in some way... especially anyone that I watch or add to my favorites list. I always see photos that make me want to try something new or try to better the photos I'm taking. It's nice.

are you almost professional: no no no.
What’s the last thing you took a picture of: my nieces. I took them to the park, and pretty much took like five rolls of film... I don't have the pictures on my computer yet, though.
what kind of camera: I used my canon last. I use my grandpa's old camera a lot too, and my holga. and, I have a bunch of old film cameras I use to test/experiment with.
when did you get it: my canon, this year. my grandpa's, last year. my holga, right after graduation, haha. the other ones...just over random periods of time.
is it good: I love them all, they're amazing. my grandpa's is my favorite though... for obvious reasons.
do you have a model that poses for your pictures: my nieces are my models! rosie, my friend, models for me too. I've taken quite a few of jamie too, but she‘s not my model or anything.
are you looking for one: well, no, I'm not out looking for one. but when/if someone new wants me to take their picture, I'm happy to do it.
what kind of pictures do you take: I love portraits, or just any pictures of people. I really love multiple exposures too. Other than that… I take a lot of animals and nature too.
what was the best picture you took: In my opinion… last year, I had a photoshoot with my nieces, where I dressed them as porcelain dolls… and one of the pictures that came out, is my favorite picture I’ve ever taken. It’s the one that’s gotten the most compliments too, and that I chose to put in the art show. I haven’t uploaded it on DA though… I’m kind of afraid too. :/ I did upload “I’m really Rosie…” to DA though, and that’s probably my second favorite I’ve taken, ever.

to school: I have, and I’ve taken it to school a lot for my photography class.

What do you love about photography? I love all of the things you can do and capture with it…and I’m always happy/excited when I take and develop pictures… so that’s pretty amazing too.
Where is your favorite place to shoot? around my house (outside)-haha. I know its pretty lame, but there are a lot of acres with gorgeous/interesting things on them, so it's cool. I like going to parks a lot too (both nature, and playground kinds).
If you could take photos any where in the world, where would you go? New York, or pretty much anywhere overseas… I would be able to see/photograph things Im not able to now.
Black & white or color? I like both, but I’m more drawn towards black and white.

What is your favorite camera brand? I’m really not all that picky since I pretty much don’t have the money I need for any expensive cameras. I have some canons though, and my grandpas old camera. and I have a holga, haha, which I love- so I guess those are my "favorite brands".
What type of photography would you want to specialize in most? portraits and double exposures. those are my favorites.
How long have you been taking photos? I’ve always liked taking pictures but I started taking photography classes when I was like, fourteen or fifteen, and I guess that’s when I started getting into it- and then when I was seventeen I started getting more serious about it.
If you could shoot with any photographer, who would it be? I’m not sure… I’m pretty shy, so, having some amazing photographer around me would probably make me freeze up.
If you could shoot with any model, who would it be? I love taking pictures of my nieces and my friends (they are my models!) but I guess….famous wise? I adore Mandy Moore and think she’s gorgeous…and even though she’s not a model (although she’s modeled before!)…I’d pick her.
Big camera bag or small? I have a small one for now and I’m planning on getting a bigger one later so I can carry a couple cameras and my lens and all of those things.
Develop your own photos or have someone else develop them? I used to develop my own, but since I don’t have my darkroom (I have everything I need but it’s not set up) I have to take my film places to get developed. It’s not nearly as fun as doing it yourself.
If you had to take a guess, how many photos do you think you take in a year? I have no idea…. a lot? lol.
If money wasn't an issue, what camera would you buy? I don’t know… I’d have to think about it and actually try out the camera and make sure it fits me well?

Pro or new?
I’m defiantly not a pro, but I wouldn’t say I’m extremely new to photography either… I think I’m still learning though, and probably have 34543534 more things to find out.
How did you get your first camera?
My first “camera” was a pretty inexpensive digital camera that I got for my birthday/Christmas (and another one I got a couple of years later for another birthday/Christmas) that came from my parents… but my first actual camera was a holga that I got from my parents (again, haha). I was completely obsessed with taking holga pictures and they knew it.
Have you ever used a toy camera?
Obviously so, haha. My Holga. <3 I used disposable cameras when I was a kid too.
What type of photos do you take the most?
I mostly take pictures of people/animals (just at random or I set up portraits) or do double exposures (of people, animals, random objects-etc.)… and I take a lot of nature too.
Do you use a tripod?
Sometimes. I use mine mostly for double exposures so things don't get too blurry.
How do you carry your things?
haha, I pretty much wear my cameras (yeah, multiple) around my neck and then have my tripod/lens in my hands...unless theres somebody else with me…then, they’ll help out too. I know, I’m horrible.
Have you ever had one of your photos published or featured?
goodness no, I’m not amazing or anything. I wish.
Have you sold any photos?
I guess I have… I always feel bad when people offer to pay for them though... I'm someone that gives gifts a lot...so it just seems wrong for them to pay for one of... ]]> ~xvintage-hearts
