So lame ass director McG, best known for his Charlies Angels films, was trying to bring the show to the states, much like BJ Novac and Greg Daniels did with The Office.

After seeing the pilot episode whatever station attempting to back it turned it down. Probably because it didn't have Simon Pegg or Nick Frost in it, and also, probably because the backers had seen one of McG's movies and decided he was lame.

And the title of this entry isn't completely true, because, Spaced is still coming to America. The original version comes to DVD here in July, go buy it.

So Monday I had my interview with the Art Institute of Tampa and I passed with flying colors, they loved my portfolio, and they have accepted me into their Animation Program, which will take just over three years for me to finish, depending on what transfers from my Community College days. Two of their top hirers out of graduation is Disney and EA, which are both in Orlando. Not too shabby eh?

So, I'm really excited, a little overwhelmed.

I move to Tampa the first week of July and will start school the second week of July.

The Lost Boys is probably one of my favorite films of all time. As commercialized and Hollywood as the film is. The only vampire movie better than The Lost Boys is Near Dark, which actually came out the same year.

So now they have a crappy sequal for The Lost Boys. It won't even be worth downloading from a torrent site to see it. Sigh... and they're also remaking Near Dark, which doesn't need to be done!!

The pictures look amazing. They're all character shots. Besides Nite-Owl and Ozymandias looking like they're straight out of Batman and Robin they all look spectacular. We're doing pretty crappy in the Premiere lately, wasn't thrilled about the tie to Tottenham, and a second loss to Man City which put us five points behind Arsenal on the league table was a huge blow as well. But man in the FA Cup we are unstoppable!

After awhile I grew out of the Hong Kong Cinema films when I started getting more and more into art house style films and independent films. But you know what, I've recently grown out of that too.

You see it all started in High School when I got my first DVD player in the tenth grade. The only reason I wanted a DVD player was so that I could get Lord of the Rings: Fellowship of the Ring Director's Cut.

So for my birthday my parents got me a DVD player and two DVDs out of a dollar bin. The two films were King Kong versus Godzilla and Fists of Fury. They were both those really cheap all region DVDs that you can find in almost any store in the world.

I watched King Kong versus Godzilla about half way though and had a good laugh. At first I didn't even bother with Fists of Fury because I didn't really care who Bruce Lee was. I was young, and ignorant. That was until one day in gym class I saw a boy named John reading a book instead of playing basketball with the rest of us. What caught my attention is that the book was the size of an encyclopedia. I took myself away from the game for a while and noticed that the entire book was devoted the genius that is, Bruce Lee!

I asked John about Bruce and the kid wouldn't shut up man. He spoke about every film, how Bruce Lee could probably kill me a hundred different ways without breaking a sweat, and then how he could kill me another five hundred ways while breaking a sweat. I mean, John probably knew more about Bruce Lee than he did his own family members.

So he peaked my interest and that afternoon I watched Fists of Fury. I was blown away. So the next thing I did was go out and buy the next Bruce Lee film I could find. I got Chinese Connection. Again, my mind was blown.

Shortly after that my sister got me a joke gift from the dollar store. It was a VHS tape of Jackie Chan's Police Story, which is, in my opinion, one of his best films.

Those are the films that first fueled my attraction for Hong Kong Cinema. I quickly got bored of it though. I wasn't really bored of Hong Kong cinema, more the genre's that most of the films portrayed, which was action/violence/kung fu/explosions. I got sick of it and I got tired of feeling like the average male movie goer who wanted to see tits and explosions.

Shortly hereafter I made a random purchase. Wes Anderson's The Royal Tenenbaums. I was moved by this picture, moved in a way that no other film had done before. So again I needed more. I bought Bottle Rocket and Rushmore right away and then only a few months after that I was introduced to a man by the name of Steve Zissou on the silver screen. I fell in love with Anderson's style and the way he approached film. It wasn't probably until I started watching his films did I finally realize that movies were more than just brain draining entertainment, it was an art.

And for the longest time I would only watch independent films. I had another friend in high school who was all about supporting independent films and it's all he cared about. He was the John Kerry's and Jane Fonda's of the Vietnam war, where Independent Cinema was the peace loving neighbor compared to Hollywood, the blood shedding soldier.

But the more films like these I watched the more they became dull and stale. I love independent films, and support them 100%. The thing is, a lot of it's crap now. The more films I watched the more I felt like they were just shoving all there nonsense and rhetoric down my throat. And then after films like Napoleon Dynamite it almost became a fad to make movies that like. It wasn't about the art anymore and it wasn't about the independence anymore. It was about the dollar amount. It was about numbers in the theater. It wasn't about the heart and soul anymore, it was, "Hey, lets make this movie so we can get all the scene kids across the globe to see our movie. Let's make all the characters depressed ass holes and lets have them all listen to The Shins and iMOGENE HEAP. That will really draw crowds to the movie!" I mean, does anyone else agree with me on this?

Needless to say. I was bored of another genre and it was another random purchase that saved my life as a lover of cinema. Luc Besson's Leon. My God, was this a brilliant film. And yet again I splurged on my current interest. I picked up one Luc Besson film and one Jean Reno film after the other. And slowly but surely I was slowly becoming attracted to this genre of action/explosions all over again. It's all traditional from here on out, because this is what I believe I truely excell at, and it's what I want to do.

I think this will also allow me to have more of a presence on here again anyway. I don't like wasting my time with the stuff that I used to do. I feel like I actually accomplish something when I sit down and paint for four hours. Not when I trace a picture of something in Photoshop. That's a waste of skill I think, on my part.

So, here's to whatever.

Speaking of Mass Effect, I just beat it, level 47 Vanguard (Shock Trooper). It is by far the greatest game I have ever played.

Spoiler alert... there's a part where you have to choose between two crew members dying on one of the main missions and when it was all over I seriously teared up.

The character acting is among the best I have ever seen. The sound track is by far the best game sound track I have ever heard. It reminds me a lot of Vangelis. I wouldn't even by surprised if the composers drew inspiration from Vangelis' Blade Runner sound track.

I have never been so into a game before. Mass Effect just completely enveloped me. It's brilliant and awe inspiring.

All I have left to do now is to play though again.

Also, I heard McG, mastermind behind the lame Charlie's Angels films, wants to make a tv series in America based off the brilliant British series Spaced. Horrible idea. Doesn't need to be done. Hopefully Wright, Pegg, Frost, and everyone on the original series sends nasty letters to McG. What the hell kind of name is McG anyway? Sounds a like a douche to me.
