Well, Its about time for another Journal.
So much has gone on in the last couple months, so to keep it short I will give you a summery.
Just a week ago I got my first Photography book privately published, and it has been a great success. If you are interested in seeing it go here: [link]

I have sold quite a few already to my school, teachers and relatives.
Now I am starting over from scratch, I hope to do a book every two years as my work progresses.

As for other things I bought my first Truck after passing my New Driver exam. I got almost 100%! That’s pretty good because I was so nervous I thought I was going to die. I now have a wonderful Dodge Dakota 1999 model, and it’s Red. I Looove it!
Now I can actually drive around and take pictures whenever I am not doing homework or at work So excited.

I now also have 3 accounts here on DA. This is my main one, where I will always be everyday. My second account is [link] which will have all my photo manipulations from now on. The Third one is [link]. If you are ever in need of stock go there It’s all my extra photo's I don't use as photography.

Well thats it for now...
Enjoy the winter season and the snow!

Well Back to school is coming up fast! I am gathering all my new and cool school supplies I can't believe grade 12 is already here.... I mean, when i think about it the years have gone by so fast but when your living in the moment it feels so slow. I will be graduating in January, one semester early. My courses are English 12, Chemistry 12, Math 12, spare. After that the plan is to work and travel till next September and then off to University.

..........................................................

My Trip to Rabbit Island located just 20 out of Vancouver Island was amazing! I got to learn from five talented photographers from the USA and Canada for a whole week. I have uploaded some photos in each of the galleries of my trip. In the description is will say Rabbit Island '09. Kathy, the islands cook was amazing; the meals were great everyday no matter what it was.I would say I did learn a lot. I got to see what the other photographer’s pictures were like and how I could improve in the future. I also got a good look at the camera equipment, and even got to try out a few new lenses and filters.

Everyday we went by boat to new islands that surrounded Rabbit Island for picture taking. It was always go, go, go during sunrise and sunset. We would rest a bit and edit pictures during the day. We woke up at 4am or 5amalmost everyday to catch the perfect lighting in the morning and would shoot till about 7 or 8am. After breakfast we would head out again to a new island and take pictures there till noon, when we came back for Lunch. After lunch there out line would be to rest, walk around the island and edit pictures. After dinner we would all head out on the boat again to take advantage of the sunsets.

I do have to say that the mosquitoes were killer huge out there. I didn’t know they could get that big! I of course didn’t bother bringing pants because the weather was supposed to be nice the whole week. But because of that I got 20+ bites per leg! It’s all part of the experience though.

Well I got a new laptop yesterday. I didn't even actually want one, even when I went to go buy it. The reason I needed one is because I am going to a island for a week coming up the first week of August. A professional photographer is coming up from the united states to Canada to do a week long workshop. I will tell you that doesn't happen very often at all. I am even luckier because Rabbit Island (were the workshop is) is only 20 minutes away from my city! everyone else who is signed up has to travel from the USA. I am also the youngest person he has had sign up for this trip. For $1300 Canadian, it includes all inclusive stay, meals, transportation, and one-on-one help from the photographer for a full week. The photographer is Don Gale, I picked his name out of the Outdoor Photographer magazine. I don't mean to brag, but I don't get these opportunities very often so I would like to tell you about them. I think I will come back from this trip with a lot new skills and ideas. I have a whole page of questions I intend to ask him already.

Well now that I do have a laptop I am happy. It is more useful then i thought it would be. Well I will update next after I get back from my trip August 8th. I wont be doing much till then anyway. I hope everyone is having a good summer! My poll shows almost everyone is so that is good news
-Lynnea Parker

Hi everyone, I hope you all are getting the chances to go out and take pictures in these next couple of weeks. Here in Nanaimo Blossoms are coming out all at one time this year, and there are so many photographic opportunities right now, I don't have time to get them all!
My Nikon D90 is proving to be worth what I paid for it, and it was a lot. I love the richness and colours that it is producing for me. I came back from taking blossom photo's yesterday and didn't even need to edit any of my pictures. That is a first for me! My old Nikon D40 always needed touch ups with photo editing. If you are a Nikon lover, I really hope you try the D90. Its a great camera once you learn were all the buttons are

I am doing a lot of Volunteer Work these days, on Sundays I am helping out with a local fisheries technician to improve local streams and collect fish data. Its hands on work, but I love it. Down were I am working on the Millstone River there are great photo opportunities via; waterfall, mini rapids, pools, vegetation ect. If you live in Nanaimo you should go down there in the next week for two.

-Lynnea Parker

Ps. I now have my own website at [link]

I got some opportunities to go out and take pictures and have some great results. I sold my Nikon D40 yesterday with its equipment to ~CreationsOfBeauty I hope she likes it

Went to see Watchmen yesterday and it was GREAT! I really don't get why the reviews say it is so bad. It is definitely different then most movies, but its unique. I will see it again in theatres.

The international is also a really good movie, ya its about banks again but its done really uniquely too. It doesn't give you the normal bank movie effect. I will give it too you though, really weird ending. Makes you think about it for a while...

Right now I am on an original star wars movie kick. I watch the 4 and 5 movies yesterday. The ones with Luck and Laya. Lots of new things happening in my life right now, including: new camera, and two awesome trips coming up.

Be sure to visit my website at: [link]
or my stock account at ~xxsimplicity-stock

The Trips

Well for the first trip, which is a one night stay at a storm watching cabin at the end of Vancouver Island on February 21 & 22 I will have lots of opportunities to get some great shots and spend some time with my family on a short vacation. I can't wait to get away and see what its like. If I'm lucky I might get some great storm shots.

For the second vacation, it is a lot longer then the first one! from March 13-23 I will be going on a road trip from Vancouver to Calgary! This will entail the following and then some:
1.Shot of the rocky mountains, lakes and more winter landscapes
2.Wildlife shots; Elk, and mountain sheep or goats probably (I saw them last time!) and maybe a bear.
3.In Golden I will go to the Wolf recovery centre and go on a wolf walk, were you can photography wolves in their natural habitat, just me and the guide (can't wait!)
4.The Calgary zoo, were I will get some more animal portraits (my favourite zoo of all time)
5.The trip back, and get to see more landscapes and wildlife.
I will also have my new camera by then, so expect some great shots.

The NEW camera, only I have to decide!

I am upgrading to a more professional model of camera because the camera which I have now, the Nikon D40 has too many limitations for what I want to do. I bought the D40 a full year ago when I was just starting out in photography, and it really is a great camera but now I need something more, and something that will keep me satisfied for years to come. I classify myself as a landscape, wildlife photographer for the most part because that’s what I like doing the most.

In Canadian Dollars the Canon 50D with the 18-200mm lens is currently $1,799 and the Nikon D90 with a 18-200mm lens is currently $1899.96 so both cameras are in a close price range. I have done a lot of research on both models, especially the Canon, but I need some advice from people who own either model, or close to it. I am also worried that because I have always been with Nikon, switching to Canon might not be a great idea. Have you ever switched brands, and if you did what were your complications and/or preferences?

Some of the minor stuff like Nikon taking SD cards, but Canon only taking the compact flash cards could be a problem, have you ever been inconvenienced be this? My only concern is that it is easy to find SD cards anywhere but it is harder to find the compact flash cards. Also I am finding that the weight of the Canon is significantly heavier then the Nikon, plus the Nikon is smaller. I don’t have any problems owning a Nikon camera, but I am wondering if the Canon would be a better choice. The 50D is more advanced then the D90, and might give me more choices for what I want to do. Also the filter size on the Nikon is a 67mm well the canon is a 72mm. Are 67mm filters harder to find then 72mm filters? It seems to me like the most common filter sizes are 72 and 42mm.

And for the last quick question I have, as a landscape photographer I want the camera to have the ability to do auto exposure bracketing. I haven’t read anywhere that either of these cameras can do that. If you know then please let me know!

Thanks for reading, I will really appreciate any feedbac...

This year will be a first white Christmas in at least 5 years. Just this week alone it has now 90cm and I am not joking what so ever. Tonight we are getting another 10-20cm and more snow is expected all week! once every ten years we get a major snow storm and the city has to shut down, and the weather man said this will probably be this year. The last one was around 1997. I think it is totally wicked, I have been pushing cars everyday that are stuck at intersections...

So I am done all my Christmas shopping finally and have even wrapped them. Now I can spend some of my spare time taking pictures. I have uploaded some winter ones already, they are in my gallery.

Merry Christmas everyone! -Lynnea

P.s. I am so exited for Christmas and snow! Winter photography will be a blast. I have a couple new projects I want to work on and one of them is Hi-speed photography. I will hopefully be submitting some new deviations with water splashes and falling objects. I am also going to be doing more photo manipulations and they will probably be with wolves as the main subject. I have done a lot of horses lately.

I am also working on a short story/book right now. I am expecting it to be quite long but I will see what happens. The story is based on a young girls experience with a pack of wolves and her realization of how man kind can be unrelenting towards nature and animals.
I am hoping this story will bring a new light to some people who don't realize that wolves aren’t savages.
*I will keep you updated on how it is going.

On November 24 I will be submitting 4 pieces of my best work to the Port Theatre to be put on display. I am really excited because this is the first time I have ever had my work put out for the public to see.

Journal Layout and CSS
Made by Lily A. Actually last week was in my opinion the best week ever. All the leaves were golden but hadn’t dropped yet. I was a hair away from hitting a buss on Sunday which was really freaky but I made it through.
Next week I am thinking of going up to Englishman River but that is an hour of driving on the highway.

This months self-spotlights are:

 &

Visit my website at; [link]

wow, I haven’t updated my journal in a while. So much has happened that I wont be able to include it all. First off I would like to say that my website is now lynneaparker.com yay! that actually happened like a month ago...
My school started up a week ago and things are starting off rocky but my schoolwork should even out soon. I cut my working hours down from 35 to 15 a week so I can sleep between homework, school, friends, photo projects and working. It all consumes day up.
None the less I am hoping to get out and take some pre-fall shots and get a mini album started of the new season. I am hoping my idea works out, you'll all see it if I finish it on time.
I am leaving for Grouse Mountain tomorrow after work so see some wolves, awesome! they're like my life, lol. I will be back on Monday with hopefully some good shots. Of course if there is a big ugly wire fence in the way they might not look so great.
I have just recently started a photography/art journal that I stick random crap about my life in to describe me, its a really cool long-term project but you should try doing it too.
well I have to go to work soon so take care!

-Lynnea P.

Visit my website at; [link]

Just when things are looking good.

Ahh! Is about all I can say. You have no idea what happened on Wednesday the 10th. Worst day ever! So I had just bought my movie Jumper, really good movie and watched it after school. Everything was going great, yay. But then I go on the computer and everything else changes in 10 seconds. Every picture I have ever taken and every document I have ever saved was gone. Like not deleted because it was no where to be found at all. I looked everywhere but everything was just gone. I no longer have any original photos of anything I have ever taken, which is horrible. All my photo's on this site are gone too. I am really angry about this, and I took my computer into Future shop today to see if they can recover anything.
Well I got my computer back yesterday the 16th, and no.. I paid them a hundred bucks and they didn't find anything at all. What they did do though was erase my hard drive so I really wont be getting anything back. All my programs are gone too now so I wont by submitting anything for a while till I download them and try to get stuff back.

-Lynnea

Visit my website at; [link]

I am in the shoe department, which is interesting cause I know absolutely nothing of shoes what so ever! But I am learning.

So... I made myself a website to.
So as it turned out 2 weeks ago Nanaimo got 2 feet of snow. I was so stoked for spring, all the buds were on the trees and flowers blooming and then wham! 2 feet of snow. It was shocking really, very unexpected. But at least it only lasted one or two days before fully melting again. Spring though since then has seemingly slowed, I just blame it on Global Warming though.

In my last journal I said I was quitting my job, well I did about 2 or 3 weeks ago, YAY! Now I am working at the Bay. I start in a couple of days. I'm really hoping it works out alright.
If I don't start work this weakened and it is sunny I plan on working on some landscape shots. I feel a little down about my gallery right now so I want to change that.

Anyway thank you to all my friends and people who fav. and take the time to comment on my work. I really appreciate it.

Ps my avatar is from user: She made it.

& & &
& &

so spring just arrived for Nanaimo 2 days ago. I hope it stays for a week at least. Its been cloudy and cold for months! I got some really neat photo ideas I want to try soon too. I will post them when I finish.

I also went to see jumper on the weekend, its a GREAT movie. I have seen it twice in theatres in less then a week. I can't believe it got a bad rating, Its just as good as transformers almost. YOU have to see it.

Also on Monday my new second semester of photography starts. I will have all new projects to keep me occupied for a while and I will be trying a lot harder then before to improve in my work.

I also just quit my job at McDonalds. Yesterday was my last shift actually. now for the next couple weeks untill I get another one I will have more time to take pictures and get out. I worked their for 10 months, for a first job that’s pretty good I think.

My next big goal since I am done with my Europe trip is to buy a car, lab top, and cell phone. It will take a couple of months but I can't wait!

Ps my avatar is from user: She made it.

& & &

Got lots of new photo's from all catagories coming; Be sure to check them out sometime soon

hey everyone, I have a great time in Europe. I visited Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Italy, France. It was great. That also means I took quite a few pictures I will be putting them up over the next couple of days.

I went with a group of other teens from nearby high schools with an organization called EF tours. Its a popular tour company. The hotels were interesting, in most places there weren’t any shower curtains... I flooded the bathrooms in those occasions. the toilets were what I worried about the most. In about 60% of the cases there was no toilet seat, 5% of the case I didn't know how to flush the toilet , in 2% of the cases it was a whole in the ground and in 33% of the cases they were really gross. but hell what do expect? It was an experience all in itself lol.
I didn't know though that it was a dollar every time you wanted to go to the bathroom too. I tended to climb over the machine when I didn't have enough cash.

Some of the cities and tourist spots I went to were:
GERMANY; Rothenburg, Munich, Black Forest, Rhine Falls, Heidelburg
AUSTRIA; Innsbruck
SWITZERLAND Luzern
ITALY; Verona, Venice, Milano
FRANCE; Strasbourg, Paris

If anyone ever has the chance to go with a friend or just by themselves on a tour offered by a school or something you should really go.

some of the thing I found interesting about europe is that no madder where you go you will find Nutella everywhere! I was shocked really. Nutella is that chocolate spread you can put on bread. I was just shocked to see it everywhere, in all forms, shapes, and sizes.

Ps my avatar is from user: She made it.

Since I find myself lurking around DA almost endlessly when I have free time I figured getting a subscription would be a good Idea.

P.S. I am so exited, only a couple more days. I have been waiting to go now for exactly one year.
I am going with my school through a program called EF tours. I am sure most of you have heard of it before. AND I am taking my camera so just wait till I get back to see my photo's.
I will be visiting: Germany, Austria, Switzerland, France and Italy. A very busy two weeks that is going to be...

aside from photography and trips...
I am trying out this new eating routine, I figured it would be interesting to try eating dinner for breakfast and breakfast for dinner. Its working out good actually.
So, since I find myself lurking around DA almost endlessly when I have free time I figured getting a subscription would be a good Idea.

Just a bit about my personal life, I have been feeling really optimistic which is out of the ordinary if you know me. I think the main reason is that life is flowing in my direction instead of always against me. My Gym class started Archery and Wrestling which isn't a very girly sport I know, but the two are my most favourite! I also found some new friends.

I will be able to get into my school photography studio soon to take some more pictures and still life’s, which I really am wanting to do. I sorely found out that my "macro" lens that I bought isn't so "macro". I can't return it though cause my mom would hang me.... It was a lot of money... X/ I am still not going to give up though.

Even though my pictures aren’t getting many reviews or comments, I wont take it to heart just yet because this is a new account. I hope that does start to change in the near future. Thanks to my dev watchers, even though there is only 3 of you It makes me happy <totally corny line there!> haha.

Hey do any of you know about the Wolves in Alaska, Wyoming and Idaho right now? I am a real wolf fanatic about wildlife and animal welfare. I was hoping to raise some money to help defenders of wildlife stop the massacre that’s going/starting already. Aerial gunning is evil. Well that’s my little bit. you can see the website at: [link]

A bit of the previous Journal;

So I have had quite a few opportunities to use my camera now and have a good feel for how it works. I just recently acquired a macro convert filter for my lens and am super exited to use it.
My gallery is slowly growing and I can't wait to build it more. Thanks everyone for your fav's and comments, their very much appreciated
I was looking at some active clubs here on DA and found these so far, You should take a look too.
& & & &

I Have some Still life and more studio submissions coming soon so look back in a couple of days

Ps my avatar is from user: She made it.
