Heads up. if i go dark for a couple of days it's not because I'm angry and need time away from the internets. I'm going to be trying to get some side revenue going, and trying to get this comic project going.

The project is called Solar Bomb. The two main characters are up to see. there's more pics available on [link] under "The Spiracy Theory". Hopefully it's the first of a number of projects and ideas I seriously need to get out of my head before i turn into a jedi ghost.

Much thanks to everyone who's shown support, and hopefully I'll be able to show off some good stuff in the coming weeks.

Thanks and much luv!

I've been having an interesting time remaking the characters into something that's simple and yet iconic.

I'll be coloring these images soon, but not until after the move. Basically most of my stuff is in boxes and I'm only keeping the computer up until the morning of the move. Just so I know the results of the KOF fanart competition.

that's all. Thank you guys for the favs.

game on!.

- XXSP

So after 5 long years doing Graphic Design for queen and company, I'm leaving the govt. Contracting business. Layoffs suck, but at the same time I really was starting to grow tired of doing the same things, and dealing with some of the more "colorful" personalities.

Most people see leaving their 5+ year career job as a tragedy, but to me it's like a switch just flipped. I feel like I have more energy to finish drawings and pieces i start on, and I don't have the stress or burden of hard deadlines to keep me from personal projects.

We're planning on moving to the midwest in August for better job opportunities, and cheaper cost of living. Hopefully this will push me to meet people and conditions that will really harness my abilities in ways i never dreamed.

I got tired of seeing the last post, and decided to put up a new one.

What can I say there has been alot of things going on in my life as of late. One, I managed to hook up with some people to do a comic. Local radio DJ, Bobby Fresh of 96X fame, and Musician and Comic book fan, Mike Federali were sitting on the comic script for The World Guard for 2 years and emailed me through Myspace to ask if i was interested in drawing it. Basically it was totally "right place, right time".

Right now we're almost done with the character designs, and I'm working on the panels for Issue 0 as I type this. My optimism is waayyyyyy up right now and I'm going to try to kick this comic's ass, and have prints available by Comicon.

In other news I think i'm tired of seeing all the cool stuff about SDCC, so I think I'm going to make an attempt to go this summer and experience if for myself. Stay tuned to see how this develops.

So here I am sitting here at work relfecting on this year, and I have to say that I'm not really satisfied with where I'm at. I think it has a lot to do with how crappily this year went. I lost two people who I loved in a matter of two months, I've been art slumping for a while now, and I've been broke for the last two months, and over some really dumb shit. (identity theft, and stupid bills)

So where do I really want to go in life? I know I've been asking myself this question for a long time, and I've had it asked to me.

1. I know I want to accomplish more than just being a graphic artist in some off-the-radar town in Virginia.

2. I want to be financially taken care of.

3. I want to possibly move out of Norfolk va and see more of this world than the east coast.

4. I want to accomplish my goals, and put out some books and maybe get a job doing character design work / game design work.

So how do I get to that point?

draw, and draw and put out consistent work, and put my name out there. grow some balls and start doing stuff instead of just sitting around like some pussy.

Today marks the 29th year of my life, and I think there needs to be some changes to the way i do things. Sooooo I think starting in January/Febuary I'll be doing Commissions

So if you're actually reading this and you want me to do a commish for you email me, or drop me a line on my aim name: Blaquefeather. I'll be doing this until the end of Feb.

In this new year I'll also be trying my "One a day" plan. Back in the day I did one drawing a day, inked it, and colored it, then moved on to the next piece. By the end of the month I had 30 finished pieces ready to show off. I can't say that I'll have all colored pieces, but I can say that 30 pieces would definitely brighten up the ok pieces I already have here so far.

While that's going on I'll be trying to fine tune Agent Orange into all the awesomeness that has been exploding off in my head all this time. I also want to play with other comic ideas and such, which I'll definitely been playing around with and exploring.

One more thing before I go. If you ever get the chance check out a book called "drawing on the right side of the brain" by Betty Edwards. Someone on the bus suggested that I read it, and said that it would help you greatly if you want to learn how to draw or how to "see" as an artist.

Anyways I'm out happy new year ppls.

Woke up this morning with a really crazy random dream. Usually I have awkward dreams, but man this was just the tip of the iceberg. I think it was also because I was just getting over a head cold. For some reason every time I get over a cold It always ends with some weird surrealistic dream. This one had possessed people, cannibalistic Transformers. family guy episodes, and exploding football fields.

I think I may illustrate it to some effect. it'll take some time to get my thoughts together before I even bother

Well. I've been pushing myself to draw and draw and draw in a period of "mountain training" I seriously want my style to improve and it's actually starting to. I can see it, but I can't believe it.

I managed to draw up the first three members of the "Stage Bosses" who will be doing battle with Agent Orange and Aikman. I'm pretty happy with what i have so far, and I'll be posting them up in due time.

Once I finally get the character designs up and out of my head I'll start typing out the script and then i can get cracking on the panels. I'm doing it the traditional way instead of just throwing myself into the panel drawing. Maybe this way I'll actually get further than i usually do before I psych myself out.

i dunno. we'll see.

Soooo I never post journals here. The reason being , is that I always have myspace to vent my frustrations about human existance, and it's ills, or I rant about the latest issue in forums like GBX

However, I think I should speak my mind on here, especially if it's something that might be beneficial to my productivity and personal growth as an artist.

I got a new sketchblog on blogger called "concussive blows to the head" and it's my attempt to push for being more open about the pieces i'm working on and things that might happen down the line. I'm hoping that this will also give me an oppertunity to show off more of the sketches and loose doodles that don't make it into the final stages of production either.

anyways, check it out and do drop some luv and crits cause i can't get enough of them.
