Every year my friends ask me, what are you doing this Christmas? Christmas stopped being special when my entire kindergarten class laughed me out of the classroom for believing in Santa. (I threw my Barnie doll at them so I think we're even) Christmas is a reason to have a long break, drink hot cocoa and feel nice and cozy in your own home, bring out the games and drawing utensils!

Okay this is gonna sound odd but, I LOVE flames. No, it is not because I think they're funny, not just because I like making fun of the flamer, and definately not because I think flamers are geniuses. I am fully aware that there is a fine line between 'flaming' and 'giving-critique-because-comments/reviews-aren't-there-just-to-feed-yer-ego'. I love them because they're interesting in themselves. I love them so much, I even thought of making accounts at ff.net for the sole purpose of getting flames (for the anti-yaoi/anti-mary-sues/anti-ooc people to rant they're heads off at.) Anger is ugly, but it also seems to be one of the emotions people are most willing to express honestly. And human emotion is always an interesting subject, almost as much as seeing just how sarcastic a person can get. XD

But oddly enough, I find people against things I like to be the most interesting, not as fun as when people who like the same things as me make fun of themselves (which is just GREAT). I absolutely love the irritated/actually-kinda-proud-of-self/calculating feeling I get after reading a good anti-somethingIlike essay. It's a good way to calm myself down and get a more objective outlook on life.

I love ranting, I love reading rants. I love how people are so ready to take what some random stranger on the net said to a personal level. And just in case people are gonna jump me for my hypocrisy, I love writing anti-essays as well, so I am not actually 'above' any of this, I just find that openly making fun of myself to be fun.

I support internet drama, so sue me XD And I know I'm not making an actual point... oh well!

My life of wholesome healthy fun was over.


Being a 'newbie' in the world of fandom, my drawings were still 'scenery oriented' and the idea of drawing in 'anime-style' still hadn't occurred to me.I found myself clumsily tiptoeing around official sites, not quite accustomed to 'indoor fun' I still found myself squirming in my seat when I came across 'fan-made' sites... one of them being named "SHRINE TO THE PURPLE SEX GOD". At the time 'sex' was a word of taboo, that was only mentioned during health class. But people who seemed to know about it a lot seemed very 'adult' and 'mature'. (Seeing people say the word without a hint of embarrassment was awe-striking) Naturally, the title itself was what piqued my interest. I stumbled in.

Behold the world of fangirling at it's worst.

I was introduced to what I would later find out was called a 'mary-sue'. 'Tiara' with her multi-colored eyes and rainbow colored hair that somehow still managed to be 'raven-colored', was very 'buddy buddy' with Trunks. I had only seen 'DB' before and was still easing in to the violence of DBZ... The characterization of 'Trunks' was still at an infant-like stage in my mind. I was traumatized.

Purple became the color of fear, I found myself shrinking away from what should have been a very cool character. Seven years... it took me seven years to finally rid myself completely of my fear for the bishie.

Right now I'm not in such a good mood cuz I can't seem to draw him right. I'm blaming 'Tiara'. DAMN YOU!

And now... There's something that's been bothering me. Sometimes I look around DA, and there are people uploading things that obviously aren't their own work into their galleries. Aside from the fact that it's rude to the original artist. How fun is that? I mean, really! people are gonna come in and comment about how pretty/cool the pic is, and what are you getting out of it? The viewers might be getting a view of something they wouldn't normally, but all you have is comments meant for someone else, a high chance of getting sorely flamed, and a (hopefully) guilty conscience.

And I am ABSOLUTELY TIRED of hearing the excuses like:
"well fan-artists themselves are thieves in a way aren't they? I wish you ret*rds would just kindly dislodge those sticks from your asses and deal! It's not really your stuff anyway.".
It is a widely known fact that most anime/manga companies actually ENCOURAGE fanwork, and they are keenly aware of the doujinshis and goods being made and even being sold. (Of course they probably wouldn't be too happy if they found out that the original work was being sold but nobody would be stupid enough to do that...hopefully)Fanwork helps grow more die-hard fans, and in the end both ends gain something. The fans get a hobby, and the manga/ani companies have gained more stupid zombie nerds who are more than happy to empty their pockets for some character-goods and the likes.

'Fandom' has actually started to become an essential part of the anime culture. And with it's new growth in status, like all groups of people, there is some etiquette people are required to keep in mind. Most fanwork (especially the stuff found online) is nonprofitable. All that the fan-artists ask for is recognition for the hard work and time they put into their work. It can take hours, weeks, even months to finish a piece, but the only thing fueling the artist is the love for the original work. Come on guys, YOU know you're not making ANYBODY happy.

I'm not trying to say something huge or elaborate, I'm just saying remember what devArt.com is for. I'm pretty sure DA isn't just an online image storage. Guys, PLEASE, next time lets just use photobucket or something. Cuz, if you are putting stuff in your gallery, nine out of ten people are gonna think it's yours.

Dragonball evolution (as I see it)

There be spoilers…. Not that I can spoil that rot anymore than it spoiled itself.--;;

I was scared out of my pants by this. I was told to expect a ‘Goku who goes half fish, a Roshi that wasn’t a pervert, a Bulma without blue hair, a yellow Piccolo, and a Chichi who seemed to be a ‘miss Kim” who just jumped out of a Korean coffee parlor(dabang… if you don’t get it you obviously aren’t Korean keke ^^)’. Not only that, Goku apparently goes to high school where he is suitably friendless and has the ‘I promised so-and-so that I wouldn’t fight’ thing going on. I told myself that I wouldn’t be watching the thing, but curiosity got the better of me… obviously the cat wasn’t the only thing it killed.

The pros of the movie were: Goku never goes half fish, Master Roshi had a dirty magazine and a fascination with Bulma’s ass, and it was good to see that Park Jun-young was still alive. (I wish he was still in GOD) But that’s about it. Before watching it I figured; hey yocching, it’s Hollywood, at least you can expect good graphics and screenplay……Nothing out of the ordinary, the fight scenes had much to be wanted. And I couldn’t help but be utterly disappointed by the beer-bellied god of dragons, when it decided to twine it stumpy body up through the sky.

I admit that I am angry about what Fox did to my childhood dreams and that I may be a bit unfair. I saw many a ‘ pro-evolution’ reviews saying that the audience should be less skeptical and try to look at the movie as a separate thing that only was ‘inspired’ by the work we love so much. So I attempted to look at the movie as a person who never read DB….

Well here goes:

The mandatory ‘black screen with a typical mystical history explanation’ fades to show a western man sweating on top of some ropes. An old asian man comes into view wielding a steel pipe, joins western guy on the ropes and says “ Prepare to eat dust. YEEE-AH!” (god, I hope they aren’t paying whoever wrote that dialogue… ) *fight scene*. After western dude who is named after a monkey (for reasons I can not tell) loses to asian old guy who is apparently his grandfather, he gets a typical kung-fu lecture. Later we find ‘Goku’ going to school where he gets picked on and crushes on a girl in a short skirt, whom he woos by opening a number of lockers. Goku gets invited to a party which is where he conveniently is when his grandfather is killed after eating a b-day-celebration-meal alone. While this was happening, Goku was busy kicking asses of guys who need to read more and looked WAY too old to be in high school. I was expecting a pretty good guilt trip, but that never happened; monkey-boy seemed to be too preoccupied in his sudden “dude I’m going cool from now on” thing. A woman with a gun and a cool collapsible vehicle (that is disappointingly slow and sounds like a tractor.) introduces herself as a smart, fame hungry woman. And the both of them set off to find master roshi (which if I am not mistaken means master old master, how redundant --;; ) they set off to find weird balls with stars but meet a bandit (PARK JUN-YOUNG! GO BACK TO SINGING! Your rap wasn’t all that good but Tae-Woo’s back from the military you can probably think of something.) on the way. By now I am wondering what the point of putting ‘Goku’ in school was when he’s never going to go there… was there a shortage of dumb thugs outside of school? Shit happens and finally the main bad guy comes out to tell Goku he is ‘oozaru (big monkey… must be why the guy’s named Goku.)’ who kept being mentioned from the start of the film as the ‘other bad guy’. After a surprisingly un-dramatic fight, master old master dies. And the ‘dragonballs’ finally come to use as they call out a golden salamander with thorns. (D-war sucked too but at least its ‘final dragon’ was cool looking!)

End (now back to DB-fanatic mode)

Let’s face it guys. When a movie or whatever is made under the name of an already existent title, it is given the opportunity to forgo important stages of character build-up. Which is why reading fanfiction can be so relaxing, you already know the characters, so you don’t have to read through chapter after chapter filled with the author’s attempts to make you acquainted with the guys. (which is really difficult to be made interesting.) And because of this attribute of ‘fanwork’, it’s usually REALLY boring for a non-fan to read/watch. When you have no affection for the characters, how can anyone expect you to care about what happens to them or what they do?

BTW I can't believe I ignored 어린이날 (uh-ri-ni-nall/children's day) and went ahead drawing GokuxChichi... It's parents day tomorrow so I'm guessing Gohan might just not be as time consuming, must draw parents *w* (excited cuz my dad's as cute as a hamster XD)

They brought in my replacement today, she's this ditzy lady with a corny laugh --;;. Who cares if she's like two decades older than me, I'm the best one at English here. *pouts. (Not that it really matters, since this job only requires that you are good at sucking up to parents at the expence of their children XP)

The reason I'm so bitter right now is, I'm left grading these effing papers, and I feel like burning something right about now. I actually feel like just leaving them on my desk, so that my former co-workers can take care of it. (cuz I'm a bitch like that.... *grades,sorts .... or more like I wish I could be a bitch like that >.>;;; )

I'm in a bad mood, humor me. I'll take up to about five requests, if you dun mind me taking my sweet time that is ;
(people who have already gotten something please refrain ... unless you have something really interesting \(+ - +)/ *crazy eyes)

Everybody's SO skinny and ANGULAR. They all look so angry and their movements are that of robots XD.

Apparently I had a gintama/oofuri burning. I even found rough contis for a light lime(?) for a haruabe, nishiura goes softball, a fem!hijikata, and a 3-z.

Thinking of editing all of them onto a page and putting it up XD Does this sound fun only to me?

"ULTRA MEMORIES" is a doujinshi made by "Kangaroo-kick" I've been following her work with Sengoku Basara (kudos to our one eyed dragon >w<;;; ) And I've had many a fangirl-spasms while looking through her blog >.<;;;

When I saw that Kangaroo kick had just made a 'DB memorial book' I knew I HAD to have it..... against my better judgement, coming from a gruesome experience with 10 doujinshi titles and a devil born change in exchange rates telling me: "NO never again you little f**k!". But like I said I KNEW I HAD to have it --;;

So I sold my soul to a few omnipotent beings (a.k.a mother and sister.... my dad, being a man, is just as mortal as I am XP) and was able to get permission to buy it ^^ AND IT'S FINALLY HERE!!!!

Though, less of the book was actually drawn by KK then I had initially hoped, seeing DB in a lot of drawing styles in the many 'guest pages' was rather fun as well ^^. (Seriously appreciating how KK managed to get Yamada Sakurako to draw something for DB XD) And I am simply loving the "Trunks-wet-dream-neta"!!! XD

ANYWAY I'M REALLY HAPPY!!!!!!!!!!!!
And I suddenly want to see some GokuxBulma and some Radditz T.T And my badakaka buzz is still going on pretty strong >w<;;;
