Howard's in great shape, and the rest of the cast was wonderful as well.

What I didn't expect to see, however, was the Phantom taking a little spill during "Music of the Night".
He scared the hell out of me with that little tumble (though I have to admit, I almost laughed as well ).
The amazing thing about him, though, is that he was back up on his feet in a blink of an eye, and continued on without missing a beat.
I bet some people didn't even notice it.
Thankfully he wasn't hurt, and we laughed about it after the show when I saw him at the stage door (I had to make sure he was alright!).

I've seen Christine and Raoul trip and tumble before (at different performances - Chris during the graveyard scene and Raoul during the curtain call).
Now, I can truly say I have seen it all.

Oh, how I love that man...

Wayne Allwine has just passed away.
You may not know his name, but you would know his voice.
He was the current voice of Mickey Mouse.
And although Wayne, like others before him, considered himself just "sitting in for the boss (aka Walt, since he was the first to do the voice for Mickey)", to me, Wayne was THE voice of my beloved mouse.
My fondest thoughts and prayers to his family and friends, especially to his wife Russi, who voices Minnie Mouse.

The next visit to WDW will be so damn hard...

Tonight was that benefit for the theatre I work at - the one Gary Mauer and Elizabeth Southard were starring and I couldn't attend.

Yes, the phangirl in me won out - I snuck in to meet Gary and Beth before the show, albeit briefly, before heading off to work myself.

Got their autographs and got to listen to Beth sing "Unexpected Song" and them sing "The Phantom of the Opera".
They really sound wonderful together (and are so darn cute together, too).
I really wish I could have seen them as the Phantom and Christine for real.

I am sure my coworkers were amused to see me being a phangirl.
Well, there goes my dignity...

It was a total WTF moment - I just lost it and started cracking up.

Just in case you are wondering, they are both props for a show.
The knife's dulled, but the rifle is live (they couldn't take out the firing pin).

During the rehearsal for another show, a few years ago, I was carrying around a blank firing gun w/ a box of rounds, a pair of handcuffs, and a syringe in my work bag.
I remember thinking to myself: I'd be in so much trouble if I get pulled over or something...

So, for a while I was led to believe that I got screwed out of a 6-week contract due to schedule conflicts.
Therefore I came to the conclusion that I pretty much have to hibernate the whole month of April, and was rather depressed for a few days.

And just when I was finally starting to cheer myself up with the possibility of a little vacation and the fact that this would free me up to work that fundraiser to meet Gary and Beth, I was told that I will be working on that show after all.

So, I'll get paid for that 6 weeks, but won't be able to meet Gary and Beth.

...Make up your freakin' mind, people!
I am not a roller coaster person to begin with; I can certainly do without an emotional one.

Men wear their coats, shirts, jackets etc with the right lapel under the left one, correct?

Not Captain Hook, apparently.
At least the mouse-incarnation of him.
In the original Peter Pan animation, he seems to wear his jacket either open, with the left lapel under the right, or both lapels meeting at the center, but never the right under the left.
The park character costume is also constructed to be worn with the left lapel under the right.
I even skimmed through Return To Neverland, musical version of Peter Pan, 2003 movie, Finding Neverland and Pirates of the Caribbean (okay, so I got derailed).

I still cannot figure out why this is.
I've checked several "official" images of him, and this seems to be consistent, so it cannot be a mistake, right?
And this is driving me up the wall, 'cause I cannot find a satisfying answer!

So I bought myself a little treat - the new special edition of Nightmare Before Christmas DVD!
Actually, I was tempted by the collector's edition which came with a huge bust of Jack, but over $100 price tag talked me out of it.
That's a $100 I can put to better use while visiting the magical kingdom ran by the mouse in October.
I'll probably end up buying Nightmare merchandise anyway.

So, I got to the Penn Station after work, only to be greeted by
a mob of confused and upset people.
Turns out that the wonder that is NJ Transit/Amtrak was
having an electrical problem again, and cancelled all trains.
At-the-height-of-rush-hours.
I took me 3 hours to get home, switching trains twice.
At least I managed to get home, I thought to myself.
But nooooooo, that wasn't the end of it.
As soon as I stepped off the train (finally!), it started pouring.
Did I tell you that I walk home from the train station?

I mean, really now.
Was I *that* wicked in my past life?

See, I scheduled a work-related meeting tomorrow morning in the city.
After I said yes to it, I realized I would probably end up going into the city just for that.

So I was kicking myself for the lack of foresight.

Well, what do you know!
I just found out the cast of Phantom is part of the free concert at Bryant Park tomorrow!
So, I'll actually get to sample John Cudia's Phantom, after all.
For free!
I've seen him as Raoul, and have heard some nice things about his Phantom, so I am plenty curious.
If I like him, I'll still have another week to catch him before Howard's return at the end of the month.

So ... yay.
