All up I saved about 40% off recommended retail price in Australia (I'm never buying camera gear retail price again!).

I've only had one shoot with it, but things are looking good so far. It's a touch on the heavy side thanks to the 410 head but it seemed very sturdy in the gusty conditions I was shooting in yesterday.

All in all I think this kit will suit me very well for a long time to come.

I hope everyone is doing well,

Geoffrey

There is nothing much there currently but most of the time I put something new on dA I will also post it on my blog.

I've started a blog for a few reasons a) When I want to show people who haven't heard of dA my work it can be embarassing telling them to look on "Deviant Art" and then having to explain that its not what the name suggests. And b) I'd be lying if I said my iminent subscription expiry didnt have something to do with it.

I'd love for people to check it out. I won't stop posting on dA but I will be putting more time into the blog.

Cheers

Geoffrey

It's not that I dont appreciate the support, I do, very much so, but I put my artwork here on dA to showcase it, not to say "Thanks for the " to a bunch of people I don't really know.

As such, this Journal entry is a thank you note for everyone who adds my artworks to their favourites and puts me on watch.
After reading responses to this editorial blog: on the need for a revolution in camera user interface design and structure, I have decided the time has come for a global registry of persons permitted to contribute to online discussion. The point of the registry would be to make sure ignorant people cannot express their "opinions" online.

I have been toying with this idea for a while but the clincher for me came as this response to the blog:

"well, the problem with revolution is that when it occurs in the confines of a matter with a certain amount of history, the revolution tends to break the hereditary roots, the planted drivers of the system, producing a completely new, yet much consumable, loose paradigm.."

Valid argument or a paragon of puerile pretension? Try as I might, I have not been able to discern any comprehensible argument from this comment.

For too long, the internet has been the domicile of spurious arguments like the aforementioned which serve not to benefit the wider community, but simply clog the tubes with unwanted detritus.

In response to this threat I suggest panels of computer aided experts, particularly those versed in logic, be established in each internet faring country to review, on a case-by-case basis, each individual’s eligibility to contribute to online discussion.

Eligibility would be based on an individual’s comprehension of their native tongue, including the skill to combine words into a statement that conveys meaning and proven demonstrability to apply logic and facts to their arguments.

To ensure continuing quality in debate and discussion amongst registered contributors, stringent standards in reasoning, clarity and expression will have to be followed. Failure to do so will result in exclusion from the registry, temporary or otherwise, depending on the severity of the offense.

Given time and effort, I believe we can win back the internet from the forces of inanity, nonsense and trumpery!

For those in need of further convincing of the merits of my proposal, please see any comments posted on any YouTube video: [link]

dWarped Journal CSS is based on the Warped template design by Six Shooter Media.

One Year

I can't believe I missed it, my one year anniversary of being associated with dA. It was on the 13th of October.

In any case, it has been a great year (and 3 days), without dA I dont think my photography would have developed as much as it has. The knowledge my artwork is being shown in a public forum makes me strive to be better and there is just an overwhelming amount of inspiration here for anyone who has an interest in, well, any kind of artwork you can imagine.

I would like to thank three people in particular. ~Jehnaier who first introduced me to deviantART and who is lovely. ~MHNation for keeping it so very real and last but certainly not least, ~WildWassa for his constant support and expertise, his help has been invaluable.

My thanks also goes to everyone who has ever ed, watches me or has made nice comments about my work.
