The passing of old friend and Tritone co-owner Rick D has strenghtened the resolve of everyone involved. Originally planned as a reunion show for several bands that used to play in the Philly punk club scene during the 90's, the show has now become a tribute to Rick and a benefit for his family.

My friend Jim called me yesterday...

When he said "I have some bad news..." what I was expecting next was "we were too late to get on the Tritone bill", not "Rick passed away on Saturday."

I'm still in shock... I haven't seen Rick since moving up to New Hampshire six years ago and was excited at the prospect of seeing him and the old gang when I came down for the JC Dobbs reunion show in June.

What can I say about Rick? He was an opinionated bastard... you either loved him, or you didn't. I did, and some of the most memorable times of my life were spent with him and Jim.

Going to NYC record shopping then to shows, getting back at 4am then going straight into work at Prudential the next morning without going home, sleeping or showering first. Driving to NYC just to get a pizza at St. Marks Place. Taking trips to Canada. White Castle and 40's of Colt 45. Basement gigs... many, many weekends working door at the Firenze and Upstairs at Nicks.

And how many people would willingly run into a group of 15 or so skinheads to save my sorry ass from getting a beatdown? I know two. Rick was one of them, and I've never forgotten.

Through him (and Jim), I discovered a world of amazing music I didn't even know existed. I used to marvel at his collection of old punk 7"s and vow that someday... someday, mine would rival his!!!

Hey Rick, thanks for everything... Say hi to Stiv and Joey for me. [link]

-----------------------------------------------------------------------
I was finally able to get my tees printed up last Friday and we did a few specialty garments that were a "Limited Edition of One". So if I've already promised you a shirt, just take a lookee here, see if'n there's anything you'd rather have than just the standard black tee, and send me a note. First come, first served.

Also, a prototype of my website DestroyArt.net is currently up thanks to and any helpful comments would be greatly appreciated. I'm not quite sure what direction I'd like to go with it yet but was toying with the idea of adding some sort of trash-culture-art-magazine-type section to it... like a Juxtapoz or something... where I could put interviews of bios of cool artists and stuff...

OH! and before I forget, special thanks to for sending me the original artwork for some of my favorite pieces by her! I hadn't seen Social D for about 16 years... man was Mike Ness looking old... then I started thinking, wow... Mommy's Little Monster is over 20 years old. He must be friggin sick of playing those songs by now, I'll bet he never expected to still be playing them this long when he started that band.
Anyway. They still kick ass, receeding hairline or not.
Uncle Pete did silkscreened posters for the show and got me in, so cheers to him!
I had a pretty good weekend as far as weekends go...

On Friday night, I drank beer and went to see the Dropkick Murphys, Madball, Brain Failure and Klasse Kriminale at the Hampton Beach Casino Ballroom with some cool cats from work. I was a bit bummed that I missed Klasse Kriminale, but Brain Failure was pretty smokin'. They're from Beijing, sound like a Chinese version of the Clash, and their new CD was produced by Ken Casey from Dropkick Murphys. Madball didn't get nearly the respect they deserved from the crowd, being hardcore legends and all, but I guess that's to be expected this close to Boston... the Murphys are Kings here, and were treated as such. They also did a killer version of the Who's "Baba O'Reilly".

On Saturday night, I drank beer and watched a documentary about the Pixies which for the most part had me shaking my head in amazement and muttering "the f*ckin' Pixies..." I'm sure this was at least partially due to the beer, but I'd forgotten how much I absolutely love this band. After that I watched a piece of utter garbage on the SciFi Channel called "Beast of Bray Road". It was supposed to be based on a true story about a mysterious killer beast in Wisconsin. Some thought it was a werewolf. Others said that was absurd, it was obviously a Bigfoot. [link] Of course I watched it thru to the end...

On Sunday morning, I did NOT drink beer. Instead I got up at 6:30 am and went to the flea market like I do every Sunday morning. I actually got some decent stuff this week. At the Grandview Flea, I picked up an old G1 Transformer Jetfire for a buck and 3 good sized toy cars from the early 80's - a battery operated talking Kit from Knight Rider, an A-Team corvette and some sort of battery operated funny car - five bucks for the lot. Over in Londonderry I got a 50's Dennis the Menace figural plastic cup for a buck, a 1976 KISS Destroyer brass belt buckle for a quarter and a few other things I can't remember...

On Sunday night I DID drink beer, at the neighbor's barbecue. Then I went to sleep.

the end.

I normally don't do these games, but this one was right up my alley... Short & sweet, just like my attention span.
I got tagged by so I have to tell you 6 weird things about myself...

1. When I get up in the morning, I follow the same routine to get ready for work. It's not that I have OCD, but I'm not a morning person so if I don't do everything in exactly the same order I'll get distracted and forget to brush my teeth or wear pants...

2. I love trying new food, and have eaten pickled octopus, spicy jellyfish and chicken feet. Yes, that's right... the foot of a chicken, complete with claws. Possibly the most repulsive thing I've ever put in my mouth.

3. I'm a compulsive pack rat and collector, and the entire top floor of my home is filled with toys, comics and music.

4. I hate talking on the telephone.

5. The pinky fingers on both my hands bend inward at nearly a 45 degree angle at the top knuckle, so if I lay my hands down palms up, the fingers form a Y.

6. Sitting on the shelf next to me at this very moment are two 18" talking Pee Wee Herman dolls, neither of which talk.

I'm passing this on to the following people, who live too far away to come kick my ass:

The player of this "game" starts with the topic "6 weird habits/things about yourself" and people who get tagged need to write a journal about their 6 weird habits/things as well as state this rule clearly. In the end, you need to choose the next 6 people to be tagged and list their names. Don't forget to leave a comment that says "you are tagged" in their devpage comments and tell them to read yours.... bla bla bli bla bla bla... got it?

I just threw a bunch of stuff up on ebay again... [link] I'm trying to make enough to buy myself a shiny new Mac. No Barbies this time, sorry guys and gals. There is a Transformers G1 Megatron, slightly bruised; a Hot Rod Hootenanny LP with cover art by Big Daddy Roth and a set of Pottery Barn Fiddlehead flatware I bought when I wuz single, trying to impress the ladies...

Once again... *Gasp* in amazement at what I've got cluttering up my attic. Roll your eyes in disbelief at the sheer volume of crap a grown man can accumulate in one lifetime. See what I waste my time doing when I should be creating artwork or drinking... but most of all, BUY MY DAMN STUFF SO I CAN GET A NEW COMPUTER!!!

--------------------EDIT-------------------------------------
Well, forget about that G1 Megatron... the c*cksuckers at ebay cancelled the auction. Apparently I have to pop a bright orange cap in his ass, because god forbid someone would think a grey plastic pistol that turns into a robot can actually fire bullets. what the hell's the matter with this country?!?
