The first thought was, "You know, those aren't bad."

Right on its heels was, "...I've improved."

And I have. I've learned to work with color, which has always been a goal of mine - at least, since I started drawing, which wasn't until I was 19. I've also achieved that holy grail of art, the thing I couldn't do until just a few months ago:

I've learned to draw original characters, right out of my head. They're not perfect by any means. They tend to be done portrait-style, because my figure drawing currently sucks. That's another goal of mine. Learn to draw below the neck. And I have the perfect test subjects.

My muses! Mwa ha ha!

I finished it! It only took me...uh...*thinks real hard* Well, I did the lineart this weekend, started the CG stuff on Sunday...and I just finished it Wednesday. As in yesterday. My hand hurts, but I feel very accomplished right about now. And happy. Happy enough, in fact, to do this:
