        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Greetings and perturbations everyone.<br /><br />As you may have noticed, it's been a fairly quiet last few months.  I've been fairly busy with a slew of non-art related things for quite some time, and it has been very difficult to get any traction on various creative projects I've had in the pipeline.<br /><br />This is changing rapidly.  In the last two months I've gone through several moves to secure ample space and time for creative pursuits and so far the preliminary work is promising.  I almost have the latest rev of The Mezzanine (my studio) up, and from there its all gravy.<br /><br />I have over 35 pieces queued up for completion in the next 2-3 months, and new i ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ As a bit of random aside, I am letting y'all know that I -after much lobbying from several friends- decided on rather short notice to do the endurance challenge Tough Mudder.<br /><br />Last weekend I went to Squaw Valley and hiked 13 miles, with a 2700 ft vertical rise and drop (starting at 6200 feet above sea level) with a collection of rather odd obstacles designed by a retired British SAS officer.  All in all, I got a little hobbled half-way through, but still managed to complete it in just over 6 hours.<br /><br />http://toughmudder.com/events/norcal2011/nor-cal-2011-course-map/<br /><br />Some of the better obstacles would be "electro shock therapy" "walk the plank" ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ A few months ago I discovered a little tucked away place in San Mateo, CA.  It serves a Japanese treat called taiyaki (in their case, chibi taiyaki).  The place is Sweat Breams, with a very cozy little space with a big screen, coffee, issues of Giant Robot, and of course...little fish-shaped pastries full of stuff you all like.<br /><br />What is also noticeable is that they have art on the walls, which they rotate every other month or so, with an obvious leaning towards anime and asian-themed works.<br /><br />They take submissions, so artists here at DA of the aforementioned bent may want to give the folks at Sweet Breams a ping and see if they would showcase  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ So, as it may appear, I am active again (not that I really went totally inactive, but I was pretty under the radar).  The first stage is doing work again.  The studio was clean, now its scene from a warzone.  That is usually the best indicator that I have been productive.  I went and bought some new gear, which is good, as well as re-orged some of the old.<br /><br />I attended Linuxworld, for those that remote care (which I suspect is very few), and had a nice time with some old colleagues and nostalgia.<br /><br />Now, DA also just had its 8th Birthday (and a fine set of festivities it was), which reminded me that I've been a member here for over six of those  ]]></media:text>

        <media:text type="html"><![CDATA[ Today is a bit somber.  Not only is it the anniversary of the terrorist attack on the twin towers (which itself bends ones mind as to the gravity of it), but on a more personal note, one of my favorite composer-musicians passed away this morning.  Josef Zawinul, who did stints as a sideman for Cannonball Adderley and Miles Davis, but also co-founder of Weather Report, has passed on.  He wrote what is in my opinion the greatest composition in any genre I have yet to hear: In a Silent Way. ]]></media:text>
