So, I'm 3.5 hours-ish into the new year. And it's OK!

My resolution: Make more art.

Again, I've been upping my art output and again I hope to keep it up. Or at least make something solid from it.

This time, I've been posting Oekaki on an image board which, in prior eras, I would describe as the anus of the internet... well, I still think it's the asshole of the internet, but it's a good way to get an instant cross section of the best and worst comments one can receive on one's art.

I'd just like to add: If you know what place I'm talking about, and you find my art there, please don't judge me. I'm only pandering to the visitors there... know thy audience and whatnot. ：）

And it's kind of nice to indulge the 11 year old inside sometimes.　：）

Anyways, happy new year to all.. and to all... an awesome night!

here:[link]

It's called Building Houses 2, it's a sort of a geometry puzzle game.

You are given 3 isometric views: Top, Front, and Left.

And you have to build a 3D shape, that when viewed isometrically, looks like the three views - using a limited amount of blocks.

At first it looks easy.. then you realize you're way over your block budget... but that's when it gets fun though.

There are no bells or whistles when you've done it correctly, but you'll know.

Don't forget to leave a comment that says "You are tagged" in their devPage comments and tell them to read yours...

So, I just downloaded Smashing... Live!, the Smash Bros. Melee Orchestral Soundtrack, and my life just got 23% better... which is nice, cause I was already having a good time.

So I did finally get up to Osaka last Thursday to spend all my money, and I had a blast. Went to a club called Pure, which was nomihodai (all you can drink)... so I had a *couple* drinks. My roommate and I chatted with people, danced, after a while I lost him in all the confusion... I looked all over for him and waited an hour and a half for him to return. But he never came. So I left.

I later found out he just had to take care of some business outside... let's just say White Russians should be handled with care. He had a nap while he was at it.

It's been a while since I've stayed up until the sun came up and saw all the salarymen going to work. I noticed something during this time of the day though.. I've watched a few J-dramas and one thing I noticed was that a lot of guys have very... how should I say it... extravagant haircuts.

Well, first off, a lot of guys do wear their hair like that: big like a 80's butt rocker with barrettes and ribbons and stuff. But here's the kicker... it's not just the young just "pre" or just "post" not seriously employed college guys that wear their hair like that. The SALARYMEN also wear their hair like that! As I would walk past banks, real estate firms, and such, I'd peek in to find these guys in the traditional salarman uniform, except with super froofy hair! It was a sight to see.

The next day, we recuperated with ramen, and walked around Osaka. We visted America-mura (America Town), and it felt like I was back home....... okay, not really. In fact it was one of the strangest places I've been. Strange in a good way, mind you. I got to see all the crazy fashionistas and fashionistos walk around with their oddly mismatched yet intruguingly congruous clothing styles. There was a giant clown head with an Uncle Sam hat on, which was interesting to see. But the strangest thing was there were mannequins set up throughout he area. They'd be sittng on a bench with a cup from Starbucks and a bag of shopping, or waiting on a street corner. But the thing is that their faces were old and wrinkly, like they were in their 70's or so, but they were wearing wierd colorful clothes akin to the young people that hung out there.... I dunno if I'm capable of portraying the wierdness of the situation, but...

So later that day, I visited a friend that used to live here in Fukuchiyama. We just hung out for a bit and did nothing. I was still recovering from the night before. My roommate wanted to go out again, so my friend suggested a hip hop club that was nearby.

So we checked it out. I'm not sure if it was just a strange situation, or if it was due to lack of sleep, but it was surreal. All these hip hop kids... and in Japan no less. It was pretty neat.

At this time I was dead tired.. so I took off for the night and my roommate stuck behind. Luckily I didn't have to walk far because I booked a room nearby... or should a say CAPSULE!! Let me tell you this about capsule hotels... theyre a lot more comfortable than you'd think! There was plenty of room and it didnt feel like a morgue as much as I thought it would. And the price was right.

Well, that's it.. And I hope you learned a valuable lesson this week. And that lesson is:

Go to [link] and download the Smashing... Live! Soundtrack.

Alright.. I've been lazy for too long.

So I've arrived in Oregon.. no I didn't get lost. I just have a bit of a layover at my brother's other house, until the beginning of next year. Then I'll go live in Washington.

So what's new? Not a whole lot. I attended a sweet bachelor party which was comprised mostly of fried food and Halo 2. I kicked ass at Halo 2, people were amazed at my ability to kill, I even amazed myself having not played Halo 2 at all, and not having played Halo 1 since Whitey left Colorado. I guess playing Halo 1 against seasoned and battle-hardened potheads can give you an edge against any foe.

That is all, I started drawing again.. and YIKES.. I really lost it a little bit. Drawing has become difficult again. So the lesson is kids: "Use it or lose it." It'll come back to me, I'm certain of it.

Now to go through all 298 "new" deviations...

And I thought it would be neat to have a party tomorrow. Sorry for the short notice, but this is probably my last weekend in Denver without a holiday already happening on it. It kinda snuck up on me.

So now for the details:
It will take place at my place which is located at:

1250 S Clermont St, Apt#1-308
on Friday November 18th (tomorrow)
at around.. say.. 8... or 9pm until... question mark! *gasp*

And my phone number is:
720.982.4940
if you have any troubles, or want to check party status.

I would be honored if you would come... yeah, I mean you.

Umm.. you don't have to bring anything. But booze will definitely not be frowned upon.

...and I got one of those triple-patty hamburgers. Ya see, I was eating it, and it took me back to the year of 1999.

I was 18 years old and just out of high school. I was free to do whatever I wanted. I had my own car, I was unemployed and I just dropped out of the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs, so therefore I was financially loaded from the leftover dough.

So one day I was driving my car, not driving anywhere in particular, just thinking about what to do with my life.

Luckily, I found a quick and easy solution for my despair at that particular moment: food.

I pulled up to a Wendy's close to my apartment and walked inside. I'd been driving all day and might as well do take-out rather than drive-through.

It wasn't busy so I walked up to the cashier. This was it. This was the time to make a decision in my otherwise seemingly pointless life. I was gonna do it.. I was gonna eat three quarter-pounds of beef, covered in cheese, mustard, catsup, onions, lettuce, all squeezed betwixt a bun.

I had it. The answer to all of my problems… well, at least one of them.

I took it home and turned on the T.V. to quiet my mind whilst I indulged in this: The true king of the burgers.

I took the first bite, and it took me back to the year of 1996.

I was sick in a bed for three days with bronchitis. Long story short: It sucked a lot.

The End.

On Friday, the 12th of August I will be hosting a wine themed celebration at my humble abode, in honor of the anniversary of my birth. If you're reading this.. you're invited!

There will be wine and... maybe some cheese.. but mostly wine I'm thinkin'.

I'm not super wealthy at the moment, so my initial stock of wine may not be sufficient. So guests are encouraged to bring a bottle of something. Doesn't have to be anything fancy, it can be a bottle of Jackaroo Merlot or a little jug of Carlo Rossi Sangria, as long as it has a surgeon general's warning on the side, it's cool.

I'm thinkin' the shindig'll start at like 8 or 9pm or something.

So I finally have internet again... but not without it's troubles.

Ten minutes after getting it all set up.... I GET A VIRUS!! But no problem.. I was planning to reformat anyways. So I backed up all my important data and formatted.

I reinstalled windows, and started downloading all the security updates and stuff. Will calls and we go to the grocery store to get... well.. gorceries. By the time I get back... 5 spy/adware programs have installed themselves along with 2 viruses!!! I had no idea they were that persistant!

I continued to download the remainder of the updates and finally installed Sevice Pack 2. But I had tons of remaining spyware left so my computer is still a little wonky, because it was installed after the spyware hit.

I ordered a disc of Service Pack 2 for free (You should get one, they're just handing them out!) so I can install it without the internet and not let any spyware sneak into my computer while I'm trying to fix it.

So I'm gonna have to reformat in the near future, which kind of sucks. But I'll finally have a nice clean computer... on which to play FINAL FANTASY XI!... just kidding... am I kidding?

I am..............
I didn't mind the desk so much because it was about four times as large as the normal desks. Which was optimal for arty crafty assignments we'd get.

I should live a life in which I have a Swiss bank account.

Maybe I should become an investment banker; work on wall street. Drink martinis and wear a suit. Hang out at posh, overpriced restuarant bars, and own impressive things.

But where I really make my money is manipulating the seedy underbelly of my local city. I'd have the bestest Mafia ties, and own the swankiest brothels and coke rings around.

But it wouldn't be all fun and games - sometimes there would be action-packed gun fights and super complicated heists that I'd spend all week thinking up. Some people might die.. but... um....

Maybe I should just live in Switzerland.

Sometimes one and one makes eleven.

It's been a fun day. Just hung out with Nate and we talked about rivers, black holes, and starships. Watched 2001: A Space Oddysey for (virtually) the first time today... it blew my mind! It's incredibly deep when you think about it... and today was a day where I decided to think about everything I could.

But, I was playing with numbers and found some interesting patterns. First off, let me say that I've always had this fascination with the numbers 3 and 37. So, I've really been playing with it for years.. but just stumbled on this pattern today.

First off, take any 3-digit number made from the same number eg. 111, 222, 333, etc... divide that number by 37 and viola! You will get a quotient that is equal to the repeated digit multiplied by three... ALWAYS! For example, 222/37=6; 2*3=6. 555/37=15; 5*3=15. Strange? No. But kind of interesting!

You can continue adding sets of three, like 888,888. But you will find the same number, only this time you will get the quotient twice seprated by a zero. 888,888/73=24,024. Each set of three you add on will add another instance of the quotient separated by a zero. 999,999,999,999/37=27,027,027,027.

But what happens when you stray from a pattern of sets of three? Say 55 or 6666? Well, it "breaks down" here. Well, being how they are numbers, the pattern still remains but slightly differently. Bah.. I wont go on anymore about it.

I find it interesting because if one and one makes eleven, certainly three, three times makes three-hundrend thirty-three... well... if you think about it..... stupid numbers.

*As I wrote this I learned that numbers like 111, 9999999, and 33, are called "repdigits". Amaze your friends with your tivial knowledge! And, of course, that someone already found this pattern in numbers. Probably that Pythagoras asshole...*

I think art in any form, be it animation, a painting, literature, and even music, can be percieved in levels... first theres a seeing and understanding the objects or concepts in a piece, you know words that are said or sang, objects in a painting or characters in a novel or an animation. Then next is seeing how they work together, through a plot, or composition, or verses and whatnot.

But the next, and I think the most important, step is realizing the artist's intent. Realizing why they did what they did. I think without that last step you're missing the whole point of any piece of art. Whether the intent be,"Eh, I was bored." or "I just wanted to pass." or "I was trying to break the paradigm of... blahdidy blah blah... archetypes.. blah blah... simulacrum... blah!"

But this is somewhat hard to 'know'. But a good artist, I think, will leave hints to their intent or true message of anything they do. But I think an artists goal is to be 'heard' and expand the minds of the viewer, whether by the artist showing the viewer something cool, piss the viewer off, or aiming for somethng 'deeper'. Or else why even bother. Sure you can make art for yourself... but.. i dunno... that's kinda wierd. E.g. [link]

So what am I saying? I like deepthoughtsandstuff! Check it out, whether you think it's funny or offensive... I think that's what was intended.

I think I have a problem!

I find myself, drawn back to Deviant Art again, and again........... and again. I look at all of my friends' art, admire it, leave comments and whatnot.

But this is where my problem unearths itself.... I think I look at my own art WAY too much! After looking at some great art by other people, I'm always drawn back to myself. It wierd because... I already know what my art looks like, and I've seen it many times! So why is it so attractive?

Perhaps I'm a narcissist.... hopefully I won't drown...

I entered my name (among other things) into this anagram maker and it is quite intersting.

The title of this journal is my full name all jumbled up... not the most flattering of anagrams... but quite funny!

Not anime... insecurity of an anime artist.

I was told that a drawing of mine was " not anime".... I think I like the sound of that..... i think....

I mean, dont get me wrong. I think that there is a lot to love about the anime style, I think it's much deeper than big eyes and shiny hair. But, I'm always afraid that as an artist I will be disregarded and thrown into the anime 'ghetto'.

But if someone actually thinks that something I did is not anime, that I thought was chock full of it.. maybe I'm doing something that will set me apart............... uh.... i dunno, dont listen to me, I havent had much sleep.
