Really great company to work for, they treated me like gold and gave me a lot of playroom to design with.
Took some guilty pleasure in illustrating something a little more on the adult side as well since I never really get to do it anymore.

This one was extremely tough to pull off. They wanted to show the splicer doing his work, his victim, and what the end result would be. I don't think it worked out, but the final image is pretty creepy and unsettling, and I'm happy with those outcomes any time! <3

I had time to make one more before client work kicked in, so happy! It's so much fun to do some personal stuff once in a while, especially when getting so much positive feedback from you guys. It makes it 10 times as funny!! I'm really glad you liked my D9 tribute!

I wanted to do more quick normal human character designs. I decided to do a 'space marine' (as I've never done one) but instead of a snarling hulking badass, more of a soldier from WW2, a young kid that maybe tricked the draft, and is now realizing he may have made the wrong decision.

Tech wise, I decided to try to figure out how gear would change for a Sniper in the future. I gave him this massive gyroscopic stabilizing sleeve for his holding hand. And his legs are mounted with a sort of muscle enhancement/ shock absorbing system. They are working on that technology right now, so I just sexied it up a little. I think it'd be cool if they still wore ghillie suits in the future though!

色即是空," so it's a thing with bodies pile up together to form as one. In
Buddhism, Kong is the stage where nothing possesses an essential which
leads to wisdom and inner peace. I picture its facial expression is
presented by the dancing movements and different poses of hands, so it
shows the figure of human but not exactly the same.

Anyway this is a world with sarcasm. It is a God of mercy saving people from disasters.
In another words, it's the sex of God lolllll.

It's FINALLY here, guys! BASTION!!! I am so excited to announce that Bastion, the fruit of a small group of dedicated game devs' passionate labor is finally available on XBLA at this very moment !

Thank you for all your guys' support through my silent disappearances whilst toiling away on this project. At the very least, if you have the time I'd love for you guys to give the trial a go and see if you like it! Hint-hint - the trial is free ;D!

A little background: I had the fantastic opportunity to function as the Art Director and sole 2D artist on the team ! For better or for worse, all environmental art, UI, textures, and many of the designs were created within the last year!

Finally found the time to finish this one up! I started this one to satisfy this insane obsession I have with painting textiles lately... It was also tangentially inspired by the concept of a Rainbow Guard (George R. R. Martin and his Game of Thrones books), but essentially my own interpretation of the idea .

Either way, this was super fun... I had to take a long break from it during my work on Bastion, but I'm really happy I was able to come back to it and finish it up!

Just for the record, this tutorial has already been online for two years.

Updated version now includes :

- tips about blending,
- a detailed schema about facial proportions,
- screenshots of the tools used and tips about these tools
- I fixed some typos.

About blending : NO, there's no specific tool used, I just used the paintbrush as mentionned clearly in the tutorial.
Pretty please guys, READ the tutorial before asking.
I've already received 4 notes about blending yesterday some seconds right after I reposed the tutorial, I know that part was somehow missing in the previous tutorial since I had not explained it in a very detailed way with painted examples (I thought that was clear enough but it apparently wasn't) but it's now fully explained.

TECHNICAL STUFF

I've used Photoshop CS3 to paint this, you can download a free trial version on Adobe's website if you don't have it yet! Older versions will work too of course. I'm not sure you can find the Liquify tool in versions older than Photoshop CS though....

Original painting resolution : 9000 x 6714px, 300 dpi. No need to paint such a big image though... I just wanted to be able to print it on a very large size

I quite enjoyed working on it. Here a little description of the character, Estevao:

Estevão is a Knight of the Order of Santiago, and one of the favorite of the Master of the Order, Dom Paio Peres Correia.
After two failed attempts in the Conquest of the Paderne Castle, Estevão crosses with Princess Rasha, daughter of Rashid, the Mayor of the Paderne Castle, and the two fall in love and plan to escape together.
But Dom Paio Peres Correia won't give up, and the final conquest of the Paderne Castle, in 1249, will change their fate forever...

I don't want to step on Sideshow's toes, so I'm only posting this one shot. when the gallery goes up during the preorder, I'll share some others.

I had a blast making this version of Indy. Crystal Skull was very disappointing for me back in May, but I've grown to enjoy its good and bad qualities. Harrison IS Indy regardless of age, and sculpting his older face was a joy. I also like how we tipped his hat back...I think that was a cool decision on Sideshow's part.

Here's another one I had a lot of fun doing this... First I had planned to make only a dwarf illustration but then I realized he was too lonely in there so I dediced to give him a companion and then I decided to give her a companion as well...

Actually the whole thing was formed with a compositional decision in mind which was to fill in the empty spaces because the dwarf is so damn short. I could simply scale up the dwarf and be done with it but it wouldn't be consistent with the other ones in the series. So, here you go: a lethal couple I hope you like this one.
