This has happened to me more often than I'd care to admit.

This comic is about preventing artists from getting into online fights defending their work simply because someone didnt interpret it the way they intended it to be, and helping them accept this normality. Art is open to interpretation and dealing with the lack of control you have after you've released your work into the world is important for all artists to come to terms with. This comic is not about ignoring feedback and helpful criticisms, nor do I endorse such activities.

Is this what the intersection of insanity and obsession looks like lol?? I was playing around with pen sketches and repedetive patterns, and I decided that I'd like to try my hand at a maze I used to draw these on my desks in middle school, but it's been ages since I've thought to try one out. I was thinking of doing one based off of the LoTR, with different paths for each of the major charachters, but figured I'd better start off *small* first

The goal is simple; to start off in the Shire, and make it all the way to the Lonely Mountain. I'm thinking of digitally adding some false color later, but even in b/w you can make out the sharp craggy terrain of the Misty Mountains, the tangled topography of Mirkwood, even an arm or two of the Iron Moiuntains reaching into the top of the frame. I labled a few landmarks, but others, like the Long Lake and the River Running are merely suggested.

Follow the story. Though the ways may be twisted, you should be able to hit the major landmarks in order; if you find yourself far out in the wilds, you're probably on the wrong track. Then again....

" It's a dangerous business, Frodo, going out your door. You step onto the road, and if you don't keep your feet, there's no knowing where you might be swept off to. "

Color Theory Crash Course

This is a basic color tutorial. I'm sure a lot of you guys learned this in school, so it's basically a refresher course. Or it's more of a "put one foot into the door" sort of course. This is definitely no where near an end-all-be-all tutorial. I suggest everyone to look up multiple tutorials and draw from many places to learn. I encourage you to continue to investigate color theory, because we never really stop learning.

I've learned so much since writing this, and I hope you do, too.

Please note that I did not include every color combination ever, this was just mostly a general idea tutorial. Take what you learn and apply it to your own art. I know this is under traditional, but it is used for every type of art.

The greatest way to learn color is to practice a lot, so get out there and practice <3~

Please also note that this mostly uses RGB model as opposed to CMYK, which is vastly different. If you're into digital art, look up a CYMK model of colors!

I find that gouache is the best paint to use to learn color theory, so grab some and test it out for yourself.

I saw that ~Spoiled-kitten had filled-out the original PIXIV meme with a translation and thought 'hey, it'd be cool if more people would fill this one out.'

I also thought that if I made a usable template for this particular meme, I could force myself to fill it out myself, sooner or later. XD;;

Note that this is to help with designing a character's physical features...personality is something I don't think I can make a proper tutorial for.

I guess I wasn't clear enough in my message. I'm not surprised, but it does kinda defeat my point having to write a preface to explain it. The following post expresses it very clearly though:

yeah, it was a tragedy people, but it doesn't represent the movie, and never should. it should just represent how messed up this world can be.

You wanna talk about the messed up world, go ahead, but the point being made is stop derailing the topic on hand because something has any relation to it whatsoever. not talking about recent events that occurred during a movie while talking about that same movie is not insensitive, why drag the negative into the conversation anyways? making jokes about the shooting, that would be insensitive. go after people doing that, not people who just don't see the need to bring a conversation to something that really has nothing with the subject at hand, or dwell on the negative.

I am in NO WAY saying you shouldn't feel bad about the tragic events that happened last week, nor suggesting, inferring, or recommending that you shouldn't/don't CARE about what happened. And I am most definitely not saying that you shouldn't offer your help and support to those injured in the event.

Edit 3: And one more wonderfully written comment:
I love how people are getting upset with the fact that you used lesser examples to try and illustrate your point.

NO, the fact that the prequels aren't as good as the original trilogy is not a tragedy comparable to the shooting. Neither is the existence of the CD-i Zelda games. But thats not the point. That was never the point, to try and make those out to be tragedies like the shooting.

They are EXAMPLES that, on a smaller scale, are used to help illustrate the idea of the comic, that talking about DKR, or anything really, automatically means you must associate EVERY BAD THING THAT IS APPROXIMATE TO IT. The movie is not about the shooting, and it never should be. The ties between the movie and tragedy are there, and they won't ever go away, but that doesn't mean we cannot like (or dislike) the film based on its own merits, and mourn and aid the victims of the shooting as the tragedy it is. Yet some people ignored the theme of the comic entirely and just go "OH YOU TALKED ABOUT THE PREQUELS?! THE AREN'T A HORRIBLE TRAGEDY, SO THE COMPARISON IS TABOO." Geez.

My deep condolences go out to those who were affected by this horrible tragedy, though. In no way should we ever forget this tragedy.

I dont know if its possible to create a character thats completely devoid of tropes, stereotypes, gender assumptions, cultural influences and the like. I remember a story about how Scott Adams (Dilbert) tried to make a non stereotypical female character and in the end was accused of making fun of lesbians.

I think the best way to combat stereotypes isnt to try and eliminate them entirely but just to spend more time with a character. The longer you spend with a character, even a stereotypical one, the more developed and deep they can be.

All men are rapists

EDIT: Okay, I'll cut it out for you. The moral of the comic is "The guy in the green shirt is an idiot. Men are not all rapists, and it's men who claim they have no control over their sex drive 'because they're men' who is giving other men a bad reputation, because by saying that they're saying all men are like them"

This idea that men are all rapists has become more and more widespread (well, it has always been around, but now we notice), and unfortunately a lot of young men aren't helping matters when they use rape as a threat in online gaming and such. They may not mean it, but on top of that a lot of men use "Well, I'm a man, and that's just how we are" as an excuse for cheating, indicating they have no control over their sex drive. And that have had some pretty bad consequences for men (as well as women, but we're talking about men this time).

Because these days people don't just think "Rape = Raping women" but also "Rape = Raping children" so in a lot of kindergartens and other places for children men aren't allowed to be alone with the kids "Because you never know". Even a father has to watch out or people might suspect him of raping his children. And it has gotten so bad that other men think the same, even though they themselves would never dream of raping anyone.

The green shirt guy in the comic is one of them. He has never raped anyone, but he just knows it's going to happen one day because he has a penis.

So I advice people not to blame any actions on their own or other's penis, tempting and easy as it may be. It will not lead to anything good.

EDIT: Pfff! I don't mean men think of themselves as rapists, but of other men as rapists. It's just the green shirt guy who is overdoing it a little.

Coarse hands ran over his body like so much meat. They parted his lips and examined his teeth. The judge was so close that Roland could smell the TicTac's in the man's mouth. The second judge consulted with him regarding his own findings in hushed tones that were indiscernible over the din of the crowd. The man's probing hands fondled the inside of the pup's legs, freshly shaven that morning during the hours of grooming and preparation for the Show. He tugged at the tailplug nestled within the youth's innards, causing a momentary flinch on Roland's otherwise determined face.

If his friends could see him now, he thought with a combination of pride and embarrassment, as though such a mix were possible. His hair glossy and perfumed, his skin smooth and oiled. His Owner had even contemplated painting his nails for the event. Pink, no less. Whatever He wanted, of course, but Roland was happy that He had decided against it.

Roland remembered his training and stood perfectly still, his eyes frozen on the suited form of his Owner standing in front of him, his leash held firmly in His hand. They had practiced this scene countless times over the previous weeks: Roland perched precariously on the table placed up against the apartment's window which overlooked the bustling main street below. All the while his Owner did His best to distract him from his task. Whatever the people there on the street thought would pale in comparison to the judges' observations at the Show and Roland wanted that award for his Master's mantle.

And so he stood firm, body taunt and flexed, mind focused on the man in front of him and the reward that would follow a good performance. The thought excited him and had had to fight the urge to smile and wag his tail. There were still a half-dozen other events before the awards ceremony and a dozen other competitors he had to out-shine.

A Faithful Double Standard

The first amendment does indeed give you the right to practice your religion. The double standard is it also gives ME the right to NOT practice it. My issue with most politicians is that they have a nasty habit of trying to remove rights from people and forcing their faith's rules upon those who dont share them.

Rick Santorum might say he endorses the rights for all faiths, but you and I both know he really only means the one shared by his political circle...

Birth Control 101

It sickens me when political pundits ignore medial complexities and progress by turning everything into a black and white moral issue. I had the option of using Rush Limbaugh (who made the slut remark), Foster Friess (who suggested women put aspirin between their legs as a contraceptive), or Rick Santorum (who believes birth control is sinful) as the heavy in this comic. Then I remembered Santorum is currently in a position to potentially run my country, and the decision was a no brainer.

EDIT: I'm getting a lot of people talking about the tax issue, basically "why should I have to pay taxes so this drug can be distributed for free to people who'll just use it for sex?"

Well... just think about this: You're ALREADY paying taxes for Viagra... and that's primarily ONLY used for sex and has few other health benefits. I could be wrong but I'm pretty sure that it's covered by Medicare or Medicaid, which are government funded healthcare options.

If you have a question about anything anyone brings up I strongly recommend you check out the following [link] from Planned Parenthood. A lot of the questions asked here are answered there and it's better to get your information from a reputable site than from a cartoonist.

This is not me desperately begging for praise. People who like my stuff have already told me why, just as people who don't like it have also told me.

But yeah, I have no illusions about being a great artist or a super funny genius. Comedy is a very subjective thing, so some are going to like it, others wont. And I'll never be a great artist because I have no intention of becoming one. I just make comics because I like it.
Heck, I never even wished for my art to make me any money. It's always just been my hobby and all I ever wanted was to have a job and doodle in my free time.

So I was very surprised when people started paying attention to my stuff. Still am. I am fully aware of everything there is to not like about my art (same-face syndrome, bad anatomy, too much copy/paste, no backgrounds, and the list goes on) and sometimes I feel like challenging myself, but most of the time I just want to have fun. HOLY POOP! I can't believe I finished this today. I finally looked at the clock and it's almost 3 in the morning! XD Please, ignore spelling error's I have dyslexia so my hands like to make me look bad hahaha. I will fix any errors in the morning.

I hope this is helpful to some, it's basically how to construct a suit and how a tailor would put together a suit for someone custom. I got alot of my information from the wonderful book "Dressing the Man: Mastering the Art of Permanent Fashion" Which includes more information than most tailors today know about. This is stuff that every tailor in the 1930's would know (infact even the poorest of man knew how to color coordinate his suit, and even what season he was since every magazine for men helped them figure it out.) It use to be common knowledge back then. Now even tailors at suit stores today don't know half of this.

Now a days I can't watch tv without spotting someone in an ill-fitting suit and it makes me crazy xD Sometimes ignorance is bliss.

Feel free to use it as a guideline or whatever, or just enjoy if it's not what you draw XD

When I say "moon fish" i didn't mean the puffy one that everyone calls moonfish (btw, why do they call that thing a moonfish anyways? it's so..urgh). i actually mean "moon" fish, lol. (or maybe Clock-moon-fish? It'll get fatter and thinner depending on the "lunar" fazes 8D)
