Cmdr. Riker's former CO, Admiral Pressman, comes aboard the Enterprise and takes command over a salvage operation to retreive the formerly deemed lost prototype Oberth-class vessel U.S.S. Pegasus.

Eventually the ship is found inside an asteroid in the Devolin system and Admiral Pressman, against Capt. Picard's better judgment, orders the Enterprise inside the Asteroid. Eventually the Pegasus is found half stuck inside the rock and it is later found out, that the Pegasus was equipped with an experimental Phasing Cloak which not only cloaks a ship using it, but lets it pass through normal matter.

Due to an accident the cloaking device failed while the ship was drifting through the asteroid, leaving it stranded as it was found here by the Enterprise.

Meshes: Galaxy-class by Prologic9, Oberth-class by Gerard Duffy.

Composition: Scene and lighting setup in LW, final composition in PS. Initially rendered first image with Oberth-class, then further modified background, digitally generating the effect the ship being stuck in rock. Second render session added the Enterprise. Final modifications in PS including glows, blurs, lights and shadows. Added slight blue-ish tinge and grain for TV effect.

Additions: Changed Oberth-class registry from U.S.S. Aries in PS postwork to U.S.S. Pegasus as shown in the episode.

While delivering newly developed astronomical equipment to the solar observatory on Nebuchadnezzar we have been called upon to respond to a mayday situation. While on a dive into one of the system’s suns, the Sundiver Shadrach has suffered an almost total failure of her Gravitic Repulsor Field. As a result, she is falling deeper and deeper into the star without any hope of escape.

Intrepid is moving to effect a rescue, but our situation is dire. We have been forced to divert almost all of our power the shields. Between that and the demand on our own engines, we have very little power left for the transporters or tractor beams. I now face the very real possibility that Intrepid will not only fail to rescue Shadrach but may also share her fate.

I have an affinity for ships mentioned as lost in the canon shows, but we have never learned what really happened to them.

If anyone has a suggestion for a ship that should be included in my planned series, please do let me know! However, limit yourself to the TNG+ era since that is where my interest lies predominantly.</sub>

In the 7th season STTNG episode "Interface" the U.S.S. Hera under command of Capt. Silva LaForge was declared missing without a trace.

I would imagine that had it been a known phenomenon causing the disappearance, e.g. a Black Hole or some other subspace phenomeon (since the Hera's chief engineer appeared to enjoy modifying the nacelles), it would have been picked up by sensors. So...

In the 5th season STVOY episode "The Fight" Voyager encounters a phenomenon called chaotic space in which the "laws of physics are in a state of flux". Voyager managed to escape, but Chakotay theorizes about the unresolved disappearance of several Starfleet vessels over the years.

So this is what I was trying to do; show the Hera caught trapped in chaotic space in a state of flux, phasing in and out of the normal space-time-continuum which is why it could not be found. The ship's power eventually depleted, drifting dead and cold in space.
