i'd like to show you the first screenshots of my upcoming realtime fantasy game environment project (yeah... what a nice word... ^^). I used "CryEngine 2" to realize this fantasy scenario and hope to finish it very soon.

The fantasy scene i created is just for portfolio purpose and there won't be a deathmatch map or something like that. This thing is not a mod, although the fps would be adequate for use in a video game.
On my old "Intel Quadcore 6600" (using a "Ati Radeon HD 4870" graphic card) the map runs fine (System -> Win7 64 bit with high graphic specs ingame). The fps are between 13 and 26 frames. They would be even better if i spent more time on optimization, but since this project is just for visual demonstration i focussed more on design than on performance.

All models have been created by me, except some of the original crysis plants & rocks and two small tree model packs, the "European Nature Set" by Michael Betke and the "Pine Tree Pack" by "Mr.Guybrush II" and "Orange_Duck". I used 3D Studio Max, ZBrush and Photoshop for the models (and some other little tools) and the Sandbox2 editor (respectively the Crysis SDK) for the map itself.

I will upload more screenshots and an ingame trailer within a few weeks. I will also post more information when it's done.

Reference from a photo I took of Bubbles AKA The Silly Little Pixie. In this case, in non pixie mode.Thanks to her for help with the picture and to Professor Maelstromme of Brute Force Studio for lending the props.

Could be considered my first foray into steampunk. This came about by a chance encounter with Prof. Maelstromme who was running a stall next to me at an event which was a little too quiet for the trading but gave us a chance to chat. She did not have her steampunk stuff with her that day but talking about it intrigued me and led to borrowing some bits and pieces for a photo shoot. Has been fun to play with something different, especially making up the airships. ]]>

It took me more than a month to make this picture as I wanted it to be detailed and show all the emotions which I saw looking at the photograph. But the original image was very inspiring, so every single centimeter was very interesting to draw.

Don't know about you, but to me this drawing kind of associates with snow and winter, despite all the flower blossoms in it. So I think the finished work comes just in time, as the snowflakes are starting to fall outside. A little wet and messy, but snow all the same!

I've never thought I'd be drawing a portrait of a hawk rather than its full-body picture. But the photo reminded me of watching a bird performance several years ago. This deep and concentrated gaze of a hawk impressed me even more than their wide wings or a beautiful flight.

This is an illustration for Fantasy Flight Games collectible card game named A Game of Thrones, which is based on the world of best-selling author George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice & Fire. This belongs to the Clash of Arms Edition.

This illustration was also used on the card packaging for the "Ancient enemies" chapter pack, which I think is pretty cool!

The character is Areo Hota. He is a tall grizzled veteran with a mop of hair that was once dark but has now turned to a whitish grey. He is now captain of the prince's guard, and wields a tall, wicked looking axe that he has been "wedded" to, and is rumoured to sleep with.

Illustrations for card games like this always have short deadlines, and are supposed to be viewed on a smaller scale than here. ]]>
