One odd side effect I've noticed after I moved to England is that I dream of middle aged UK (and Irish) gentlemen. I've set out to draw some of them, and I thought it fitting to start with this adorable little bastard.

Don't be fooled. He might be wearing a kilt, but he is in fact Irish. While I know kilts can be found in Ireland too, this if just a case of my night-time brain going "fuck it" and mixing everything up by putting a Scottish kilt on an Irishman. I am pretty sure it was supposed to take place in Scotland anyway, so he probably moved there and thought kilts were mad comfortable.

The young guy is an Englishman from London who's just on a holiday, and his part was very innocently awkward at first, and then turned playfully sexy with both of them experimenting with the whole thing, until he had to return to London.

The older guy is a writer from an English village who moved to Scotland, and I woke up feeling very comfortable and in a good mood from that.

I like to think of it as a overly warm feel good movie where they first try to hide it from the rest of the village, mostly because the Irish guy is trying to fit in and is sure he'll be shunned forever if they find out, but when they do there's a bit of "...You're puffers?" but quickly followed by "Oh well, we like you anyway" and everybody gets drunk. So I decided to do a quick little ten minute sketchy thing of how I roughly perceive the anatomy of my own winged character, Roland. He's fairly typical in the sense that he's meant to have pretty close to human body structure (like what most people seem to want for their winged characters). But there are a couple little things that I do different for him compared to other characters. This may not be how you choose to portray anatomy for these kinds of characters, which is fine, but this is just kind of how I imagine it. P.S. Roland has sparrow bone structure for his wings, which is a pretty average bird build. But for a character with something like bat wings, I would do it pretty much the same way, just with some slight differences to accommodate for bat bone structure.

And hey, while we're on the subject of weird things about winged people, you may find this amusing as well. :> (same character as who's shown in this pic btw)


*EDIT* Okay, I think I need to explain this a little more to you guys. This image was not drawn as an attempt to provide a scientifically or anatomically "correct" version of a winged humanoid. We like to talk about the features that would really be required for humans to fly, but when most people draw a winged human they just give them regular human dimensions and proportions through the chest and shoulders with wings that just sort of connect without any particular musculature. And this character of mine is pretty typical of that formula. His body structure is almost perfectly human, but he still has wings. So this sketch was done simply as a possible solution to making this sort of wing-to-human structure look just a little more feasible. I know that in reality this sort of build would never be flight capable. But hey, this is fantasy, and it's never going to look scientifically anyways because it doesn't exist in the real world. So please, there's no need to keep pointing out what sort of features I should have included or changes that I should make if I want this to be more "accurate" because it wasn't meant to be "correct." It was just meant to be a possible suggestion for a bone structure for winged characters with this sort of build. Also, I'm completely aware of the weirdness of the tail. I was aware of it when I drew it, and I didn't care to change it because that wasn't the point of the drawing. Maybe if I had taken more than ten minutes to do this I would have done more realistic bone structure, but this image was just done as a quick answer to a friend's question. ]]> do I think about that?"

Me and my friends are making Kung Fu Panda characters cause there was a showing at the school a while back. ^___^ Mine's a red panda (a REAL red panda, not that crack-panda Shifu is...) named Huo Mao. It literally means "Fire Cat" in Chinese.

She's young, cocky and arrogant and thinks she's all that. And she is, because she knows all sorts of kung fu and can kick most anybody's butt. Anyone except the Furious Five. ;D So it's her life's goal to eventually beat them.

She needs a new hobby. ]]>

Sorry for the change, but I just thought you might want to see the final version in all it's glory... Anyways, added his weapons, duo katanas (with paintbrishes on the ends???)... I didn't want to make them look the same, so I had them be opposites... I didn't want to make a strap either, but It would be weird if the swords were held in place by air, and I like sensible pictures. Enjoy!

I always wanted to draw a 'ninja animal'... so i did. I suppose this guy is somewhat inspired by the Redwall series, but this is mostly my own brainchild... anyhow, his name is Sumi because his tail reminds me of a paintbrush...

Sumi wanders the mountains, serving his own cause, righteous or otherwise... He mostly fights with tooth and nail, but I'm going to upload a version of him with his awesome weapons... so stay tuned...

The picture shows a scene from BloodhoundOmega's planet Ileyeah. A desert bloodhound and his desertbird patrolling the wasteland. No one knows what dangers might lurk behind those rocks ...

But Wendy had to return home, grew up, unlike Peter.
All the lost boys followed Wendy back to the town,
and Peter was left alone in Neverland.
The ending always made me cried a little inside.

Edit: holy ffff. I woke up to 400 favorites?! What is this?! Honestly I don't expect this to get very far in the contest I just had a little idea. I'm probably gonna make another entry that more accurately conveys a message.

entry for the make ugly contest.. i know it's not exactly scary or overly hideous.. but i guess what i was trying to illustrate was the effect smoking has on youth hence the adorable wittle boy. i'm not necessarily against smoking although it's something that i would never do myself. it's a personal choice. the cracks on the floor i guess symbolize what happens to your lungs when you smoke.

btw my parents smoked for 20 something years, i finally made em quit in 07. i guess i was just too worried about them. i kept throwing away their cigarettes when they weren't there. :3 ]]>

This is just an extra piece of watercolour paper I had, and because it's a lot longer than the other ones, I decided to try and cut out Haku's dragon form before painting on it. It turns out it was a lot harder choosing the right look for the dragon than I though, so I had to cut out a few before I decided which silhouette looked the best. this one's more detailed than the other two I did (which are on my tumblr xD;; ), but I personally liked how it turned out . I've also done Totoro and Castle in the sky cut-outs. I might do some other ghibli watercolours as cut-outs too...as soon as I can think of good silhouettes for them xD;

sorry guys, I've been a little out of it these days. I'll answer notes and stuff soon and do the watcher's feature too, don't worry, i haven't forgotten >.<;~~!

I had SO much fun with these...I've never ever done an expressions sheet for characters I've designed, and I feel like I leveled up! It's like a whole new dimension of character design!
Between these, Jellybots, and the Watercolor experiments recently, I've been really excited about the direction my work is going! I've always wanted to design characters for animation, and now I actually get to try it out
