I don't say this was easy to make as I needed to make some changes in main design. Oh and It was surprisingly challenging to draw front image of fierce dragon trapped in chains but in the end I learned new things while making it so every sweaty drop spilled was worth it. I hope you can agree with me.

Koi Pond

Hi all!

I felt like making another koi pond. This time I used a different technique to make the Kois, especially the fins. They have a gradient effect and are even thinner than before (I ripped so many while making it lol). This pond is also a little bigger, which measures 2.5 x 1.5 x .5. I also filled it to the brim with resin whereas before it didn't reach the top. I also wanted to attempt at making another lotus. It's still not perfect but I think it is better than before =].

I hope you guys like this!

materials: polymer clay, resin, (bought the rocks), glue, acrylic paint (for the lily pads)
time: ~ 4-5 days

I grow up watching his creations in the movies, and I need to register my THANK YOU to Ray - for my love for miniatures, fantasy, stop-motion and mithology. So, this is a little homage, and my thank you-doodle for all the dreams he bring to life!

Siri the werewolf/wolf god as featured elsewhere in my archive...from the business end. I pity whoever she's towering over, it takes a lot to get her riled.

This was a originally going to be a pushing-colors experiment, but partway through ditched it because I didn't really understand what my values were doing. Instead I pushed the whole thing hard in stark black-and-white and learned a lot through the process. Like detailing shadow equally to lit areas makes them harder to read as shadows. I was also experimenting with stylized hair/fur, which is successful in some parts and less so in others.

Silent (Hill) Carousel - Sculpture

Inspired by "Happy Carousel" in Silent Hill 3 here is now fiiiinally the finished sculpture of my merry-go-round-horror-horse. Took its time alright. His name is Bob, and he likes to hang around.

This was really fun to do as I love the macabre, but it was also dead scary - not because the horse keep starring at me with its only eye - but since Ive never sculpted or painted flesh and blood and stuff before. Think it turned out okay although annoying enough my camera has distorted the colors but oh well, I suck at PS so I will just let it be.

Silent Carousel Horse is made on a wire and tin foil armature, covered in super sculpet and painted with acrylic. Totally handmade.

Another of my carousel designs. This one was sort of a screw up. Started as a good line art and then I misjudged the color usage (and there's a marker scribble I photoshopped out that happened when a marker sailed out of my hand on accident >.<)

Anyhow, still getting used to the pens. little off center as the scanner didn't like the rings on my sketchbook. Should take it out anyway and put it up with my other two recent carousel ponies.

I've removed her from the head-world she used to share with Copernicus, so I’m no longer concerned with keeping her species’ biology realistic. She’s part of my supernatural sandbox now! >
Also (I don't usually use these terms, but I see them all over the place so) I figured I'd specify, before anyone asks, that this is a closed species. At least until she and her world are more solidly developed. :3

Some Sculpey bird wings I made, to be used as pendants, earrings, or what have you. The pair on the left are based on mine and a friend's angel characters, modeled after a Red Kite and Steller's Sea Eagle respectively. The ones on the right are a Cooper's Hawk and White Throated Sparrow.

Edit: I always saw Scyther as a very dinosaur/dragon looking critter with some bug parts. It has come to my attention that others did not see it this way, they saw him as more of bug. This is my interpretation. If you want him more insect-like, you're more than welcome to draw him that way

Scuse the bodgy picture. Can't seem to get it to come out clear.

So, Project Educate were holding a craft contest where you had to try an artisan craft you've never done before. Half the challenge was finding something I've never tried. As a kid I delved into everything I could, and in high school I took every artisan elective available, so even ceramics and woodwork were out. Up until last year, I worked at Spotlight (a massive craft/habby/furnishings/etc store here in Australia) and was the only crafty person in the craft department. So everyone came to me with questions and it became my business to learn anything I didn't already know. When I say I'm a jack of all trades, master of none, I really mean it.

So I had to get really specific. Then, when browsing Pinterest, I saw a quilling piece and it dawned on me that I've never tried that before. I caught the flu and had some time off Uni, so I thought I could knock this project off on one of my sick days. Two weeks later, I finally finished it.

This took so ridiculously long to finish, and I'm still not entirely sure it doesn't need to be filled in a little more. But it's due today so I'll stop obsessing.

I wanted to do a rainbow monogram, but instead of it just being the same shaped pieces filling the space, I also wanted each colour to have its own theme or "thing". I tried a huge range of different techniques because I wanted it to be so full of detail that there's something new everywhere you look.

I chose the word "inspire" both because this contest inspired me to try something I have never tried before, and also because I wanted it to have the dual purpose of providing motivation for us around the house once it was done.

I'm a kinaesthetic learner, so I didn't really follow any tutorials. I googled a few images and got the basic gist of it and just dove in. That doesn't really help you guys at all, but it is so easy to pick up if you guys want to try this I'm sure there are dozens of tutes out there to help.

The piece measures 60x20cm. I had no quilling tools and my local craft store didn't sell them, so I cut strips of paper out of card stock and used a needle that I cut the top of the eye off to twist the strands. For a quilling comb, I found an old nit comb in that bathroom that served a similar purpose. For shaping things like the blossoms and bodies of the butterfly, I used some of my fondant tools.

Too bad fate had other plans in mind and Vance is dragged into a crazy conspiracy to overthrow the government by his most-definitely-not-female roommate.

College is meant to be exciting, but not this exciting. Between failed dates, failed grades, and maybe not quite failed hacks, Vance will slowly come to question the morality of his actions and the true price of freedom.

Is this what democracy looks like?

This is the cake I made for my boyfriend's 30th birthday.

Naturally I wanted to make him something spectacular, but he just wanted a cheesecake!

The filling is a honey cheesecake inside a biscuit and praline crust. It's topped with cinnamon, then decorated with vanilla wafers and French macarons. The macarons are chocolate with a caramel filling.

After ending up with over 8kg of strawberries for a mere $13, I had lots of berries to burn. This was the first way I decided to burn them.

The dessert is something I've made numerous times, but have spent a lot of time altering the recipe and learning from mistakes, and now I'm finally content with the result.

This parfait is made from bars of strawberry and blackberry mousse, served with a strawberry coulis and fresh strawberries, raspberries, blackberries and blueberries.

The teeny strawberry seen in the foreground is the first one to come from my garden this year. Woohoo!

Halloween Carousel Horse

I started back into Carousel illustration. If you continue looking at my works I'm also uploading a Roman Carousel design which was sort of the start. I was illustrating horses wearing roman bridles after the Marcus Aurelius horse and turned to doing a carousel.

After that and another dragony one (which I'm inking now) I decided I should really do a Halloween one.

Now it doesn't -scream- Halloween... but the skulls and bones and the blackness of the horse do add a nice touch.

Also I noticed all my black carousel horses are kinda boxy/chunky beasts.

But yeah, used skull refs... horse anatomy refs... listened to/watched Stargate Atlantis episodes and Jim Henson's The Storyteller (WHICH IS AWESOME!) first season while I did this and the dragony one.
