When I first saw a photograph of the karst peaks of Guilin, China thirty years ago, I couldn't believe a landscape like this really existed. The area remained at the top of my 'life list' of places to see since then. When I finally found the opportunity to visit, I wandered alone on the riverbanks and met a cormorant fisherman who showed me his traditional methods. They fish at night and the lantern attracts fish toward the raft so the cormorant can dive in and catch them. The fishermen tie a loose string around the cormorant's neck so they can't swallow it completely, and the men pull out the fish and store them in a basket. This method of fishing has existed for over a thousand years here. I decided to call the image 'Timeless' in honor of the men and their tradition. It is still possible to find the 'old China' if you know where to look.

Oh my goodness, I'm in shock! I got a DD! Thank you so much to WaitingForTheWorms for suggesting it (how sweet of you to take the time to do that) and to dandelgrosso for featuring it.

As I've told a few deviants, I really do like this one myself, but you know how it is when you download your photos and you wonder, should I upload this to dA? I'm really glad I did!

Also, now I feel a little bad that I've complained about the DD system lately! What can I say? I'm overjoyed.

Less than a year ago the only person who'd seen any of my photography was my sister and she kept telling me she loved it. I was positive she was just being nice. Because of dA, I can see I've improved. I'm self-taught and I intend to continue to learn from everyone at dA. I especially want to thank vacio-oscuro . She's always been there for me, and everyone, with help and encouragement.

Thank you to everyone who included this image in your features/articles.

So all throughout the making of this I felt extremely frustrated/anxious/worried/guilty. I have an english IGCSE exam tomorrow, and so wagged today to study. And what do I do, I go on Photoshop to play. I'm going to fail, but I can't really blame anyone, can I? I like what I have right here. It's strong and powerful and I wish I could be that pegasus. He has his own life in his hands and makes decisions for himself. That's something I would like to be.

Oh and don't go telling me his wings are huge. if they were as small as you'd like, the poor fella would have a hard time getting airborne. Physics, guys, physics!

_{Ok so this started out as a small project on my laundry day this Saturday, the weather was really boring so I decided to do another version on my 3x3 pic [link] that you might have seen.

This took a hell of allot more time then I intended, and I'm not that pleased with it.
Maybe because I spent way to many hours trying to get it right, ended up sitting most of Sunday with it, hate not to finish what I've started so I really just got myself to blame...
Started out with 51shots, was about to do a 7x7 but ended up like this instead. The original file is like 700mb 50000x50000pixles...
So if anybody would like to buy 3x3 meter picture of many me, just give me a shout =]

Edit: As some of you pointed out I did use the same picture twice + that I had one or two pictures looking extremely similar, so I did some minor changes and changed 3 of the pictures. Btw, thanks for the comments, and yes I am a nut case =]

Walkthrough to my piece Mercury.
I hope it will help some people get new ideas and perhaps learn a trick or two.

I kept it fairly short because I did neither want to go into the really tiny details nor elaborate on Apophysis or Illustrator. These two programs were only used to generate stock of sorts, therefore I think it's not all that important (and not interesting either, cos I'm pretty much of an amateur in those programs anyway ).

Just keep in mind that this is supposed to trigger your imagination and not lead to a dozen mercury pieces

I asked him, “Baba (old man) can i take your photograph?” a slight nod. I clicked away and showed him some shots. Indifferent as he was, a sublime smile slipped out of his lips and faded. Then I clicked this one and a couple more. Post processed in monotone b/w. His eyes and wrinkles holds a lot of stories.

Seen at the shrine of Shah Abdul Latif Bhitai, the saint in Bhit Shah, Interior Sindh, Pakistan. A lot of people visit the shrine hoping their faith would bring them good luck, happiness, success and content at heart in their, otherwise, troubled lives.

Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai (1689–1752) (Sindhi: شاھ عبدالطيف ڀٽائيِ ) was a Sufi scholar and saint, and is considered one of the greatest of the Sindhi language. He settled in the town of Bhit Shah, Sindh, Pakistan. His most famous written work is the Shah Jo Risalo. His shrine is located in Bhit and attracts hundreds of pilgrims every day.

some things happen during the course of a life to help
mark time,...doesn't necessarily have to be profound
in a world-shattering way,...it could be something that
that touches us only,...doesn't have to change our
lives, or add any additional meaning to it,...just something

i guess 'the crow' was something like that for me. and i'm
not one of these purists that doesn't believe in sequels,...
there have been some good ones,...but, i think the bar was
set a little high with this one,...how could you replace brandon
lee?
not to mention a kickass soundtrack,...which is what my
title refers too,...stone temple pilot's 'big empty',...
anyway,...i know i'll catch a little 'grief' for why i did this and
why i did that,...i just did.
