Playing with two new filters, the Hoya NDX400, and Cokin P121M (ND4 Grad).

I like the colours and effects I'm getting out of them. I don't think the Hoya NDX400 is a good ND. It seems to add a reddish tinge to everything, which looks great on shots like this, but not so much on anything else.

Location: Burleigh Heads, Australia.
Time: Too early for my brain, too late for the twilight.

My fucking god, you have NO clue how long it has been since I've gotten any good video games from any garage sales... There were so many garage sales last week and most of them sucked obviously and I can't believe I got these 2 things!

Thank fucking god, I got these 2 great things and the d-pad on the GBA is worn out on the diagonal directions and now, the d-pad requires harder pressing to have the game respond... it's a pain in the ass but then again, it is a garage sale... Enjoy the stuff!

Sorry - I couldn't help myself. The model itself isn't finished but I just wanted to render something, its been too long.
So, render time... well, drum roll please..... 1hr 11mins.... on a T2310 1.5ghz, not looking forward to the Maxwell renders but hopefully I'll be home by then and have access to my desktop.

Just playing with some wood combos for now. I quite like the dark wood with the white drawers etc. The textures have just been taken from the C4D library so they're not exactly brilliant.

Am putting more details into the model today, in Solidworks anyway.

So here it is! I don't really know what to say about this image . It can be seen as one of those corny 'individual in a crowd' images, or something like that. But the way I see it, they are all scared of him because he can scramble their guts now, so they want to get on his good side. It's hard to show emotion when your stuck with those wiggly craft eyes.

I got the idea to do this after seeing this totally whacky whisk thing at the World Market in La Jolla. CLICK HERE for a pic of it.

Fate conspired against me on this image. First of all it would ALWAYS crash after a couple days of rendering (and I tried like 8 times). It took 4 weeks to optimize it to the point where it wouldn't crash. Then, when I finally got it figured out, the damn washing machine decided it wanted to end it's life and take out the computer rooms fuse while doing so! BAH! So I tried again after that, and it finally went. That's my excuse for not having a render come out in like two months. It took over 177 hours to render on "Lemon", which is a dual Xeon 2.8.

Completely unedited. Came strait out of Mental Ray this way.

Technical Details

Made in Maya 6.5, rendered in Mental Ray 3.4 standalone. Lit entirely with final gathering at 50,000 accuracy and 0.01 1.0 radii. Depth of field is the Physical_lens_dof node. The shaders on the egg shell and feet are Maya ramp shaders, and the shaders on the whisk and ground are both DGS shaders. I have to admit I'm quite happy with the egg shell shader. It may not look like it, but it's one of the most complicated shaders I've ever made. It has properly balanced fresnel'ish reflections, and the bump shader I made is exactly like the surface of a real egg, and there's real translucency involved (custom programmed). It took forever to render because every single surface in this scene is reflective! The image totalled 26,526,337,261 reflection rays!!

Another reason I made this was because I wanted to test a new feature in Maya 6.5/MentalRay that allows multiple diffuse bouncing for final gathering. Basically it allows the 'light' to bounce around on objects that aren't transparent or shiny. Take this [link] for example... see how the sticks are too dark underneath? That's because the 'light' couldn't bounce back up onto them. It is possible to do this with global illumination of course, but I like lighting my scenes with only final gathering if I can. This isn't to say I won't ever be using lights again, this render did after all crash a whole lot because that huge friggin finalgather map took a lot of RAM.

You may recall that I have created a repaint of Orlando as Will Turner from Pirates of the Caribbean. This latest one, however, is of Orlando Bloom, the actor, and not as a movie character.

I used a 17-inch Will Turner produced by Robert Tonner Doll company. As is usually the case with mass produced dolls depicting celebrities, the sculpt is spot on but the doll suffers in the facial paint department, which is as crucial a process in capturing likeness.

So, the first order of business was to completely remove factory facial painting. I then hand painted it to bring the likeness of actor Orlando Bloom to life, paying careful attention to lifelike facial expression.

The hair underwent extensive and meticulous restyling. First, I cut the hair to a shorter length. Then I heat permed the hair to give it the needed wave. Finally, I layered the hair by running the scissors along the length of the hair. This also reduces the hair's volume and thickness down to proper scale. Last, I hand painted delicate lines of hair along the hairline for more accuracy and realism. Sideburns were more accurately hand repainted as well.

The bottom inset photo shows the doll as it was originally released.

Repaint is a new form of pop art, wherein the doll's face is treated like a three dimensional canvas, with the added challenge of painting within a very small area . Since dolls are basically miniature pieces, brush strokes and shading have to be very controlled and precise.

For those that didn't know me on my original page ~ragingpixels This is my first car I ever made in Cinema 4D, It was made back in around september-october of 2002 using Cinema 4D R7.2. After using the program for about 2 hours, I made this beast in 2 hours, lol. Yes it took 2 hours to make it, lol. And yes, those seats are sofas/couches. lol.

Enjoy guys...the 1st evolution word is what I called it, there was a 2nd and 3rd using the same style modeling (cube/hypernurb/extrudes) technique, but I lost them...2nd was a hover craft and 3rd was a plane, lol.

I completed the park bench tutorial, but the only thing was that I was not satisfied with the level of quality the finishing project was at. So I continued to work on it until I got to this.

For the bolts I used a noise modifier. Color #1 is grey and Color #2 is white.

For the wood planks, the modifier is wood. Color #1 is medium brown. Kinda light-ish. and Color #2 is light brown.

For the cement foundation, I used a speckle modifier. Color #1 is medium/light grey, and Color #2 is a very very light grey.

Continued modeling. This is as of a few days ago.. been busy with thanks giving.

I originally made this model for a game called Carmageddon 2.. and im happy i re-visited it. There were quite a few things i had to change in the mesh to make it smoothable, as the original program had no such option.. but, most of the original points are still there, just added some extra polys to make it smooth correctly.

I made this one a while ago. It went through several renders and I never uploaded it because I was never truly happy with the result (and lazy). It took me a while to reach this final result and though I like it, it wasn't what I originally planned. Oh well =]

Made in Maya and rendered in Mental Ray. The 'wings' pattern around the central Squishtopus is the reflection of light from "caustics" effects. Colours were slightly adjusted in photoshop. Other than that, there's no post processing.

After watching RagingPixel's video tutorial on how to model and render a Lamborghini Murcielago, I wanted to make another car. I had already made a few cars, but they were cubic as hell hahaha xD

Most of the stuff in the tutorial were things I already knew. But I definitely learned alot. I learned alot of shortcuts and I use them all the time now. And I learned how to make the wheels! I didn't know how to do that before.

I used all that I learned from RagingPixel's tutorial for MY OWN car. I used the blueprints of a Lamborghini Gallardo for this. This car totally doesn't look like it, but thats cause I only used the lambo as a reference for the sizing of my car. And the doors too ofcourse Other than that, this car has been fully improvised.

I'm really thankful to RagingPixels for making such an educating video. As proof you can look at my wheels I used his basic info and used that to make asymmetrical wheels ^^

Its not done yet though, I still need to make the head and tail lights and it also needs mirrors on the doors.
