Part III of my long exposure squarecrop self portrait series. Only the autumn version is to be done now!

The big challenge in this shot was to sit still for 30 seconds (not even proper breathing was allowed) after running back and forth between the rocks and the camera. The huge amount of mosquitos around didn't make the job easier either...

I've made several attempts, this is the only one that turned out me being sharp. Had I succeeded earlier, the iso could've been as low as 100. I gave it a run through Noise Ninja though (for color noise only) just in case.

Materials and Methods
Nikon D80 + 50mm F1.8 + IR remote. Christmas lights hung in the background along with some more back lighting. A lot of trial and error to get the composition right. GIMP for post editing. Decreased blue content to make the background more even. Color balancing and curves for the final colors. The bubble wand is white so it didn't cast such a good silhouette.

Additional Comments
Not sure if I like the colors but I wanted something blue-ish. For some reason this reminds me of those complete-these-words segments in kids shows: BA - OKEH , BA - UBBLES

Sometimes,
the heart feels colder, or darker, shadowed, less than colourful...

For me, it's not that easy to admit things like that, but recognizing it and admitting it surely does help, and then I can go on and do things to work on turning things around. A conscious effort all worth the while.

I may have written this with Earth Day, April 22, 2010 in mind but, I am a big proponent of Nature and the preservation of it on a daily basis.
I personally feel this is important as a way of life.

I do think it's GREAT that there IS an EARTH DAY, serving as an awesome reminder of the things that people can do, to get involved in the process of helping Earth improve where there is definitely environmental needs.

Even just tiny things, around one's own daily home living, can help out greatly. The more people know, and participate, simply the better.

This is an out take from a photo session with one of my favorite models Ann. I was having a heck of time with my camera and I was getting tired. By now we had been shooting for about an hour and a half in the Texas heat.

The wind was a major pain in the butt too! But here it really caused a lovely effect. Focus is strictly on her skirt, which is one reason I did not care for this shot at first. But its grown on me.
