Ok. This one (as you can see) have undergone a little more processing than usual.

Lame title yeah I know, but I like to keep it simple. I want the viewers to decide the mood this sets them in.

Using Lightroom 1.2 I converted to greyscale then used split toning to get the color effect wanted. Added vignetting too. I wanted this to appear a little soft (not as contrast filled) to add to the mood. No significant levels/curves adjustment.

btw this is the first piece done on my new PC I think it helped a LOT because it is faster and I was able to work in a larger scale than I usually do allowing for more detail. Also my new monitor is much better as far as picture and color! ]]> Please full view

Slowly approaching 100K !! Thanks a lot for this crazy amount of views!

After finishing work on Frank Millers "300", I still didn't had enough from painting clouds. So I started this one for fun and as promotional piece for Jessy Veilleux's (www.jessyv.com) new company Meduzarts (www.meduzarts.com).

I painted this picture from scratch, starting with the clouds and finished with the city. No 3d geometry was used no photo references. It would have been for sure more accurate to use a 3d base and photorefs for the beginning.
But I basically saw this as an excercise to practice my painting skills and I had a lot of fun with it. I hope the small details show that ... )

Overall I tried to create an futuristic industrial environment with gothic architecture merged with sci-fi elements at dusk.
I tried to create a transition with the vegetation vs. the buildings from the left to the right.

EDIT: Oh....WOW!! I just woke up and discovered that Columbus is perched there amongst the DD's... THANK YOU!!!! That is so awesome. Viva la squirrel!!!

As a child, my treasured stuffed animal (as all children tend to have) was a little squirrel who went on every kind of adventure with me, and my favorite story was about a lil' squirrel named "Miss Suzy" - written by Miriam Young, and illustrated by Arnold Lobel.

I love the thought of the tiny leaf-boat capturing the attention of the denizens of the pond as it passes by en route to a wonderous place.

This my first matte, which worked without the use of any photo references. I tried to imagine a
Lord-of-the-rings styled landscape with an asian touch of architecture.
The original is in a 4k-resolution.

It took me quite a long time to decide where to put this matte painting.
Finally it ended up here in the digital painting section, since I had more paint work to do then manipulation.
I think it's a good mix between photo manipulation and digital painting. 50/50

The character is Sophie Collier aka lockstock ([link])! Thank you!
It's entirely done with Photoshop CS. (yes, it's still the old version!)

I finally painted a vast amount of details. arrgh ...
Parts of the city, a few rocks, trees and ice surfaces are photomanipulated textures.

Some tech specs:

- 4700 x 2000 px width and height.
- 836 MB painting data.
- My right wrist nearly fell off while painting the details.
- Adobe Photoshop and Painter 8 via Wacom Intuos2 (as usual )


After spending 50 hours (spread over several days) I consider this painting as finished.
Critiques and comments are very welcome.
