For the #vexelove contest that ends tomorrow

So, this might seem random, but I actually have a couple of thoughts that went on behind it (who would have known, huh?)

I initially wanted to make a ninja bunny girl, because the vexelove admins are; cute, energetic (like ... bunnies) and fast (like a ninja - HU!) at taking care of submissions I drew 10 ninja girls and they were all pretty cute, but didn't really work out for me. I left the project alone for a while and returned with this; cute, energetic and FIERCE. So, this is a cross between a housewife who is efficient at taking care of the home and a fierce warrior babe with spear (and hairrollers instead of bones in the hair). I think she's cute

This is a new style I am going to be trying with some of my art. Mostly lose brush strokes created in adobe illustrator under brushes. Trying to make a more flowing style and not so finished look with the use of fewer lines.

Well... this has been a proper mission and a half. Initially started out as me playing around with options in photoshop, I know very little of it. I started making the eyes bigger and changing the face shape... after that, I kinda thought... yeah that would look good in vector.

The initial inspiration was Minnie Mouse when I was trying to think what to do with the hair. I thought of adding two buns on the sides of her head and realised if I made them round, it would look like her. Then it kinda turned into a bit of a Lady Gaga inspired concept and then it kinda turned into a Glee (Mrs Pillsbury played by Jayma Mays).

It's also a bit of a salute to my smexy friend ~Toolkit04 who loves a girl in glasses

I wanted to make it a colourful piece, I'm trying so hard to be more colourful - what do you guys think of the colours?

I wanted to do a different style of self portraiture and make it original and meaningful as well as encorporate my love of photography and drawing. The use of my hands holding the picture together is supposed to symbolize how many people like to keep everything in their lives together by themselves(including myself), and the sullen look on my face represents how trying to 'hold yourself together' can be emotionally straining. It's impossible to be perfect or to keep everything together on your own. That's sort of the general idea behind the portrait.

Medium: graphite
Size: 14"X 20"
Tools: Staedtler Mars Lumograph graphite pencils (HB, 2B, 4B, 6B, 8B<--I used an entire 8B doing the background ), kneaded eraser, masking tape, tissue, blending stump
Time: I didn't really count, but I'd estimate...about 15-20 hours, the longest I've ever taken on a drawing

A companion stamp to this one: [link] . This time it features Herbert's dad, the Coun von Krolock (not to be confused with that douchbag Count Giovanni von Krolock from the Broadway version, played by Mikey Boy Crawford ).

Count von Krolock is one of the most epic vampires of all time IMHO. Though he has his moments, where he goes emotional about the evil he's done in the past (as seen in "Die Unstillbare Gier") and is sometimes seen as tired of the existance he's leading, he doesn't go BAWWWfull about it all the time (unlike Edward "Sparkles" Cullent who is pretty much composed of angst and chagrin).

Bottom line: he's awsome. The character's got great personality, fantastic singing parts, and gorgeous looks that would make every girl fall right into his arms not thinking about the later consequences of being bitten (just check out Stuttgart promo posters with Jan Ammann on them and you see what I mean). And best part of all... he doesn't sparkle.

The actor who portrays Krolock on this pic is Thomas Borchert, who's a really wonderfull actor (though my personal favorites are Steve Barton and Kevin Tarte).

Not much to say, I don't got no special someone, but I didn't want it to be just the "place" I could imagine falling in love, hence the couple in the drawing. Anyway I'm a bookworm, and although I rarely go to the library , that is probably only because the one I have in town is a bit on the "cold" side.

Each book has a different title, and each has a different font, unless the titles are of books from actual series..I'm pointing this out because I nearly threw my computer out of the window when I put all the titles in those books

I wanted to do a oriental theme vexel since I started vexelling. Well here it is. I'm really happy how this turned out.
The face and the hair didn't take long but the cherry blossoms on her yukata almost killed me.
At first I wanted to make it looks like she was catching a firefly but the lighting for that was too hard. Kisara suggested a bamboo forest, it's simple to make and I thought a ladybird would be nice too.
Everything comes together better than I imagined.

So this is my 3rd vexel and my first attempt at lineart, was done while I was frustrated with a couple of realism vexels. I'm really happy with this piece, I'm getting addicted to lineart too.
I tried to make it look vintage-esque without stacking too many layers but I couldn't help putting loads of trans-layers on. And yeah, ignore the hair, I have no idea how to do locks.

Sorry for the watermark - a restriction of the publisher.
Anyways, it's shiny sparkle neon pink and I bet the final autograph card will literally glow in the dark (and even daytime).

The original illustration wasn't that.... neon but Birgitt was so enthusiastic and tweaked it a bit because it was supposed to be fitting to the cover of the last book ([link]).

The idea came up with an umbrella first but it looked weird so I changed it into a water lily (of course genetically manipulated regarding size O_o ).

I hope all those who come to the fair say hi and get a shiny sparkle radiated neon-card

Done in photoshop because I was too late to get it done on canvas in time.

Usually, I do this technique to draw over photos, but now I tried without references, except for the hands.

... I did like... 6 chubbanimal comics this week but the rest is still in my little secret pocket (although one sketch panel can be found here: [link] ).
Worst: coloration test. If I color in my normal habit it takes AGES to finish one comic strip. Looks so nice but... takes AGES. Gosh! I have no idea if I ever do those in nice anne-paints-mode.

Anyways:
This is something that happened last year. Kiki did not sink totally into the snow but she clearly didn't like it (and Gucci didn't like what happened three seconds later...).

Wooo♥♥♥! took me a week to finish. Damn, my fingers hurt like hell... But I think it was worth it. I'm pretty pleased with myself because I actually finished something, that alone makes me want to hug myself...

I was toying around with visible layers, I didn't know if I'm any good at it, soooo for a first-time vexel portrait using that technique, I think I did fairly well. (I do admit it's more realistic than...vexel-y, but still, I tried, that's what counts, eh?)

Anyways.. I like it, do you? [Oh and by the way Ashley plays Alice in Twilight, if you were wondering. Don't know who's the owner of the photo, but I'll credit him/her when I'll find out]

to make it a little more fun than just a vector of myself i included some things that i like
i turned myself into a pirate (i love everything that has to do with pirates)

and i did the background with rainbow colored stars. i really like rainbows and it's also a reference to one of my favourite songs (she talks to rainbows - ramones)
and i love to watch the stars at night.
i made this vector while i was on vacation in france and one night there were so many stars in the sky! it was really beautiful.
so it's also a reference to my vacation.

(because i made this vector on my laptop, the colors might be a little different than what i would usually use..)
