From the book by William L. Putnam, commissioned and published by Light Technology Publishing, 2008.

A non-fiction story about the passes in the Alps Mountains of central Europe, and the ancient belief, that the glaciers found there, were like dragons on the land.

So, I set about making the art look like a glacier, and a dragon. One of the few works in which I tried a technique, similar to the work of Bev Doolittle...

This is it! beauty shoot for my character Oreshia , The sea witch, we had to invent an artifact that could have only one element treat , so I chose water and Ice, she can see were ever light touches water, and use the eyes of her amour (the artifact) to get the light and shoot magic from far or near distances, she may also tele-transport her self were the eyes can shoot as water body element! so she wont be swimming always, that lazy sexy witch

This huge collection of characters was the Centerfold for the 1st issue of WaveDancers. Not all the WaveDancers characters in the original story are present in this Centerfold as they were to be held off to be revealed later in the story. Such as Raenafel for instance. It's not often that all the characters are in one panel in the comic, but when they are, it was a heavy duty panel to render, but they always looked great to me as an elfin tribe.

For this painting I painted the background fully over the finished pencil line art, then I layered the characters in paint over the thickly painted background. It was a task to bring them off the background colors, but it was early days in my painting experience.

When laying out this as a pencil drawing, I did the tailed characters first to establish their greater spacial needs, then I interlaced the legged characters around them.

This is a special work for me, and I thought it looked better then the other ElfQuest centerfolds that came out during this time.

This illustration of Tilaweed was created as a personal thank you to Cat Kouns Born: A significant staff member (and constant friend) at Warp Graphics while WaveDancers was in production. (Thank you Cat, for the high rez digital files of this artwork for my archive gallery). It's rare that I do artwork specifically as gifts.

WaveDancers was published during 1993 - 1994, so this is from that same time, but has never seen print publication. It's interesting to me how elongated the design of Tilaweed became. She was the poster girl of the series.

I've updated the look of Tilaweed for the new Elf-fin series Julie Ditrich and I are currently working on. Still long and lithe, but a touch more toned.

Female Experiment -Nada

You'll have to bear with me. The description is long.

I didn't do anything technical/art-wise that's any different from normal, so I'll skip that bit. I'll get to who she is in a minute.

The important thing here is the physical makeup of the character herself.

The whole argument about what's "feminine" and what's not is enough to split my skull sometimes. (I am not here to argue about it or have others define it for me in the comments, by the way ... so please don't. I've heard it all by now.) What I have noticed is that what's feminine or female seems to be defined by breasts and the existence thereof. Even when it comes to aliens. If she's going to be attractive then she *must* have boobs, big ones of course. It doesn't matter if it makes no sense. (I will expand this to include AI and Robotic characters as well.) In real life, breasts have one purpose: To produce milk for offspring. If the species isn't mammalian ... then there really isn't a physical need for them. Not really. For aesthetics, perhaps ... but even that is debatable.

So the challenge I set for myself was to create a female character/species that is visually similar to humans, noticeably female, and could be interpreted as "feminine" without relying on breasts to do the job for me. This species (Terrian) aren't mammals. They lay eggs, have gills, and have feathers instead of hair. I fell into that booby trap (pun intended, and I'm not sorry at all), and kept trying to come up with an excuse to give the females breasts. And then it occurred to me that there was no logical reason to include them except to cater to the idea that a female cannot be clearly defined as female without boobs, which is, in and of itself, patently stupid. Is a woman who has to have a breast reduction less of a woman? No. Does a woman who has had a double mastectomy become un-female after her surgery and struggle with cancer? Hell no! Are those amazing drag queens who were born without them in the first place, less woman than I am? Obviously not! Two deposits of tissue, fat, and flesh don't make a woman. So why limit my character design that way?

In this black and white internet society, I know this will be interpreted is "if you put boobs on a character, you're bad/wrong!" That's not it at all. Do what you like with them. They're your characters, concepts, and species. There is no right or wrong way to make a female character, only some that people do or do not entirely agree with or find appealing/comfortable. *That* is the statement I want to make.

Whether or not I've been successful is, of course, debatable as well. But so far as I'm concerned, I like the final idea. Still female, still feminine. No breasts. Just some spots. Challenge complete.

It's Mother's Day for us UK citizens and that means an upload from me for my Mum
Bucking the trend of a peacock for every celebratory event, I decided to go with something softer but also something brand new (in terms of techniques).
Originally I had planned to use a fantastic rivoli tutorial by ~C0rO9 available here:

I came upon several issues that I don't have the experience to overcome, yet. The biggest problem I had was trying to adapt the tutorial to cater to a tear-shaped jewel. Rivoli's are (as you can see) round so the tutorial explained how to encapsulate a circular jewel in a 'cage' of beads. I WILL come back to this tutorial as I think it's fantastic and with such clear instructions I have to have a go at it I have a few ideas of what I'd like to make too.
Instead I went on the hunt for a beaded bezel design and came upon this awesome video on youtube: [link] Sara's instructions are very clear despite a (beautiful but) strong accent and she makes it extremely easy to learn how to adapt peyote stitch to frame cabouchons wonderfully. I couldn't have done it without her tutorial so a million thanks to her

The cabouchon is 30mm x 20mm dichroic glass, the little metal enammeled flowers are from an old bracelet that have been recycled. The beads are 11 rocailles and 15 seed beads. Also have 9 swarovski crystal bicones in there too. Little bit of super-glue for added confidence in my knot-work. The two "ears" at the top are loops, bales for suspending the pendant on, either a ribbon, cord or chain. Including designing, attempts and full fabrication, the pendant took me just under 12 hours work. I'm very proud of it and really enjoyed trying to figure out how to make it work. Also didn't realise how much I like peyote stitch, especially now I've found a beading needle!

Hoping to make more of these in the future, I have a massive collection of dichroic glass cabouchons (of varying sizes) that I'd love to turn into beautiful pendants and sell. I may upload some photos of the full collection to see if anybody is interested in particular ones.

How to use Volumetric Lights in Mandelbulb3D? =>
Go into the coloring tab of the main window and click on the "Dyn fog on it" button: it will transform into volumetric light. In the text box next to it, you put the number of the light source you want to use for volumetric (by default it's the 1st one) then you can render the image. If the light direction is not interesting, you can change it using the sliders in the Global Light tab of the light which is selected (make sure that the light in On, and also note that volumetric lighting also works with Positional light, as in the latest image by Kraftwerk). Then you can modify the intensity of the light by playing with the d.Fog sliders in the Lighting window. As a side note, if you use Hard shadows, don't forget to try to tick the "Softer HS" box in the post process window, and try to increase the Radius value. It will blur hard shadow edges for more realistic renders. Hope this helps.

This costume is designed for a Sea Goddess. The skirt is inspired by waves crashing on the beach; rolling waves pull back, revealing shimmering frothy layers of skirt. The jewelry I designed to look like ancient magical relics, matching the necklace to the under-bust decor. I just completed a production of Little Shop of Horrors, for which I designed and built Audrey II in all of her forms and extras. There are so many forms in the show, and each one has so many considerations, but all in all it was a great production, and I'm proud to have been a part of it. It was a lot of work, but I am grateful for the opportunity to have created such an ambitious project.

Edit: I've had a few repeated question of how I work my lineart into the drawing.
I'd like to clarify that i don't really actually have a clean line-art. I have clean-sketches that I work under, but they're not what I personally call lineart. If you zoom in, they are very messy. I do merge the layers together at some point in step 5, and I continue to literally work the colours of the lineart into the skin (which is why i turned the sketch layer into overlay so the colours become very similar and nice to work with). That way I can get an almost none-lineart quality.

The program I used was Painttool SAI, but I think you can achieve similar effects via photoshop with a low-opacity textured brushes.

I hope this helped : ) Sorry it's so darn long. I kept it as short as I could but it's still a pretty long process.
Please keep in mind this is more of a guide to my painting process and how I technically go about doing this; It's not going to automatically teach you how to render or understand structure or anatomy (which I hope I will cover in more tutorials in the future.), which is very important, of course, to the painting itself. That's why I'll be slowly going through and doing more tutorials on anatomy and structure in the next few months, hopefully .

A good practice for rendering is actually to do still life and human sketches. preferably with a pencil, and not digitally (yet) . If you have any questions feel free to ask me

I was searching for some more clues to this theory on some Japanese blogs and it turns out that the theory of Trafalgar Law being Sabo is quite popular. Don't believe it. nope, just no.

Sorry if it looks a bit too orange... Tried mixing wool together to get the perfect shade but I sort of failed OTL The "antennas" and wings were the hardest things to make on this. It was so hard determining how to bend the antennas & if their length was just right x3 For the wings, I had to draw a stencil, before actually cutting them out of felt & assembling them. I think they came out pretty well though ^^

Aaalso hier ist es: Der erstmals in Deutsch veröffentlichte How-to-Artikel von =Kxhara!

Ich hatte das größtenteils schon am 25 November letztes Jahres fertigübersetzt. Aber ich hab das irgendwie vergessen... _{insgesamt hatts ca. 6h gedauert}
