Bastion Arrives

It's FINALLY here, guys! BASTION!!! I am so excited to announce that Bastion, the fruit of a small group of dedicated game devs' passionate labor is finally available on XBLA at this very moment !

Thank you for all your guys' support through my silent disappearances whilst toiling away on this project. At the very least, if you have the time I'd love for you guys to give the trial a go and see if you like it! Hint-hint - the trial is free ;D!

A little background: I had the fantastic opportunity to function as the Art Director and sole 2D artist on the team ! For better or for worse, all environmental art, UI, textures, and many of the designs were created within the last year!

It's been a while since I did a personal piece, and I decided to join this weekly's creature concept challenge over at conceptart.org. It's a bit more detail then I usually put for my piece, but I like how it turned out.

Haven't thought of a detail description for the beast yet. The idea is that million of years ago when the world was near extinction, insect parasite attached to living animals for survival and as the day passes, both the insect and the creature needed each other for survival and the magic of evolution has fused the two together into one and caused the giant mutation of the creature resulting in the current form.

Happy Birthday 80th Frank Frazetta! The idea was to submit an hommage piece, I had a very short deadline though and wasn't prepared so I didn't even try to go for a very action oriented image a la Frazetta... I wanted to pay a tribute to the feminine figure in his Art (especially the wild girls). I'm really not happy with the posing, especially the hips but hey it's done! ArtRage and Photoshop.

Since so many people have asked, the title is meant to have dual meaning. The one most commonly assumed is that "nature" means the natural world. There's another, deeper meaning to it, and it is the destruction of human nature.

The drive to distraction and noise, anything that will block meditation and contemplation of oneself, is so strong, that humans will destroy anything in their path to keep them alive.

This was rendered with the intention of being viewed at 18x24.
20-40 hrs, aprox. No serious idea on time amount.
Wacom Tablet.
Photoshop CS5.

90% done using standard brushes (round brush, etc)
Rust was a splatter brush made from a free texture
5 or 6 of the spots were made with brushes, the rest painted with the round and fuzzy round brushes (including all of the ones with holes in the middle).
Gears made with shape vectors.

One of my character designs for Dune. I wanted to portray both her youth and strength in her physique. her hair is decorated with water rings, and she wears her krys knife on her belt when she's equipped with her stillsuit. The blue wrap is a reference to her future sainthood. This is her as she was in the first Dune novel, so she's like 16 or something close to that.

This is the first of my designs, expect some of the rest of the cast soon.

Unused work I did for Turbine. This was going to show some tiering of armor on a female elf. This is a few years old so the techniques i used were a bit dated, as well as the anatomy. If I had to guess, I think I was designing a theme based on our Rivendell costumes. Fullscreen plz!

PS I know its stupid for elves to have bras and underwear, but I painted the base model nude... so i slapped a bikini on her to make it PG.

Man, just made it with one day to spare before Christmas And that was after weeks of work and more program crashes than I've had on anything before (seriously, these things are nightmares to make) But neverless, I'm proud to present the second installment of the "Vue it" series not too long after the first (don't think I'm gonna do one every month, I did this since I had no other ideas for a Christmas deviation this year )

Still not exactly what I originally envisioned, but with limited time and computer power - beggars can't be choosers so I'm gonna call it a day here. Made using Cinema 4D, Vue and Photoshop and output into this format via PanoQTVR, Merry Christmas!

Normally I prefer to model my own buildings but I didn't have enough time for that (though some are, but not all) Some models were free from here, here and here I modelled the snow on them and did all the texturing though.
Also, I had help from *thd777 exporting it into the right format for me.

Sucker Punch. Good god that movie was several shades of epic.
I'm surprised it wasn't based off any comic or novel of any sorts. Good on the creators, man c: You don't see stuff like that nowadays.

I'm hoping they'll make a comic based off it. That would be hot sex on toast. I would buy the shit outa that comic and rec the fuck outa it to others.

Anyway, this is BabyDoll, my favourite ( next to Rocket ) from the movie. Been long time meaning to finish and post it. Drew it around the time the movie came out... xD oops.

I definitely recommend this movie for those that wanna see sexy girls kicking ass. It's like watching a comic that's live action. IT'S LIKE SEX FOR THE EYES.
