The new Character Page is up at the Lackadaisy web site (click a character for the description).

It took a couple of years, but this is the color art that went into it. Each piece takes some inspiration from illustration and commercial art styles of the early 20th Century - things such as Knapp-Felt, Arrow Collar and Austin Reed ads, vintage movie posters, the Saturday Evening Post, Theater magazine, and Tamara de Lempicka.

+SERRATUS ANTERIOR : REDUX+

_{A redux of the previous study on Serratus Anterior. It was hastily drawn up that time and I have been wanting to do a neater version since then.

I have Burne Hogarth's book on Dynamic Anatomy for years. Only recently I started reading in details. To correctly place the Serratus Anterior, imagine a line starting at the pit of the neck, 45 degree down, past the nipple and there you have it.

The maximum number of Serratus slots a human can have is six but that 6th slot is only visible when the arms are raised. In drawing, it makes sense to stick to 5 slots or less. In reality, this particular muscle group are hard to build and most guys have to work really hard (and must be very lean) to have all 5 of their Serratus Anterior show up.

A blast from the ancient past... In looking through my archive, I came across this and decided to post it.

This is the key concept for the main ships of the bad guys, the Drej...

This was an acrylic painting, about 12" x 18" on Strathmore cold-press illustration board. "Titan AE" was a fun project - and working in animation was a nice change of pace from the live action film work...

This is also one of the few traditional art pieces I have in digital format

Hey look some thesis work! Sorry I've been so inactive on DA... I've just been trying to figure things out or something. Busy and all XD; But this submission promises more submissions in the future, right? :]

I should prolly actually clean up the character sheet for this character... If I haven't said so already her name is Elle and she is a sort of mechanical ballerina. She can switch between a speaking voice and playing music box tunes. In the story her gears get damaged and she is trapped in music box mode for a while. Here she is getting that little problem repaired...

Its a Tiidan Assault Frigate from Homeworld.
After the Tiidan Empire fell their legacy remains strewn about the stars. I'd imagine the capital system of Higara would be littered with ruins and relics from the many layers of conquering empires. Forgotten by the people but not the land...

i think i was about 11 when Batman: The Killing Joke came out, right after Batman Year one, and Dark Knight returns wrapped up. it was hit after hit of some of the the most powerful Batman storied ever. it was a good time to be an under aged Batman fan.

This scene/panel/angle that was originally drawn by Brian Bolland, and is one of my favorite from the book. It is after Joker has gotten out of the toxin waste and removes the red helmet from his head, and it is starting to rain.

This is just an amalgam of stuff that's been piling up over the past months....I wasn't sure what to do with most of it except throw it in a big pile.

I created the 3d model, turnaround, and character line-up at the top as reference material for the very amazing Damon Bard, who's recently completed a Rocky maquette in clay (I'll post images when I have them).

Most of the rest of the nonsense is from panel presentations I did at a recent convention about character drawing and design and comic creation. Mordecai and the safe was on the hotel keycards for that event.

The model A is something I modeled and textured for a small Lackadaisy-related project some colleagues and I have been working on.

The idea for this pic has been in my head for MONTHS and I'm glad to get it out of my head to share with the rest of youse. Aquaman (from the Batman: the Brave and the Bold) and Flapjack are two of my favorite reasons to watch Cartoon Network these days.

Indiana Jones card for TOPPS

This is a card I did several months ago for TOPPS' new Indiana Jones card set.

It's not the card I had intended to do, as I was working with a damaged hand (which slowed me down) and their was a miscommunication about the deadline. My original idea had Indy and Theresa walking through the Norse ruins like they are here, but there were skeletons and skulls, and a background.

When I ran out of time, I took my stufy from my sketchbook, scanned it, and colored it; much like how I did the Rogue litho.

I felt that the final was kind of dull, with nothing of interest going on around their legs & feet (all those missing skulls and skeletons), so I cropped in and made the art look like a frame from one of the movies. I'll post that next...

BTW, since I assumed everyone else in the set would be doing moments from the films, I picked as my subject a scene from Dark Horse Comics' INDIANA JONES ADVENTURES, VOL. I, a digest that came out in May of this year. A great little Indy comic that feels very much like the films, especially RAIDERS. Check it out; it's well-written & drawn.

I love when people do their versions of the mini Justice League, and the X-babies.

Some of my favorite takes were when Javaun Kirby, and Arthur Adams drew the X-babies, and when Mike Wieringo drew younger versions for the DC Universe. Some others that I adore are Dustin Nguyen's takes for his personal pieces, and Bruce Timm's for the Justice League Unlimited cartoon series, and Steve Gordon's take on the X-teens!!

*SIGH* Those were the days.

I'm just a tad obsessed with those two at the moment.

It's been a stressful week and I really just wanted to sit down, listen to podcasts and color something. So I did!
Please ignore the background. I drew that in afterwards and didn't bother with references, so it's kind of...uhm. I ignored every law of logic again, anyways. ¯\(°_o)/¯

But it doesn't matter, I had so much fun with this!

Random facts:
- Photoshop remembered that it hates me and died 4 times.
- Drew the sketch in paintchat.
- Harley's colors are reversed, because it worked better this way here. Blasphemy.
- Sign in the background says 'scherzkekse' ...I dunno, I didn't think much.
- Sucessfully resisted the urge to put the bat-symbol in the sky.
- Random megaphone because I don't think they would start anything without a lot of announcing.

And along with this, I send a special hurray to ~Kayuuko and ~ScarcrowKoibito
