Given the relatively low frequency of reporting on Muslims and Islam in general in the media, it is not surprising that the Western media displays a distorted image of Islam and Muslims. Television programs and the print mainstream media have perpetuated the stereotypes of Islam and Muslims for years. Media images of Islam are omnipresent and are part of Western culture of racism and imperial design. Islam has always been seen in the West as violent, barbaric, anti-democratic, anti-human, anti-rational, etc. The aim is to turn Muslims into an enemy people, to be regarded collectively with contempt and scorn.

Since the attacks on America (9/11), media speculation has pointed the finger at Muslims. A Muslim is portrayed as "terrorist", a "refugee" or "militant", but seldom a real human being. The term "Islamist" is used as a catchall term and many Muslims have been arbitrarily detained, simply because they are Muslims. It is the Islamist who provided social and health services the government neglected to provide. It is they who wanted democratic elections and honest government. Similarly, many of Islam's concepts have gone through process of reduction. For example, the concept of Jihad, the spiritual, intellectual and social components have been stripped away, and have been reduced to war by any means including 'terrorism'. Other connotations of Jihad, including personal struggle, intellectual endeavour and social construction have evaporated.

For Muslims, nothing could be further from the truth, Islam is peaceful religion, and peace is an essential precondition for 'submission' to the 'will of God'. Muslims like any other people, they believe in freedom, justice humanity and democratic principles. They really want to control their own affairs. They don't want to be pushed around, ordered, oppressed, etc. A critique of Islam, like a critique of any religion or ideology that has doctrines preventing people from exercising their moral sense, solidarity, and reason, is welcome.

After 9/11, racism against Muslims and Islam became a form of "free speech" in the West. Muslims and Islam were subjected to widespread abuse and bashing. Publishing houses competing to make money from this commercialised business of producing books made up of rubbish and fabricated images of Islam and Muslims. Countless obscure university scholars and intellectuals suddenly appeared on TV screens and treated as "experts" on Islam by the mainstream media. They project the manufactured and distorted images of Islam. This corporate picture of Islam is a depressing and misleading one.

In Australia, Muslims have been subjected to unprovoked racist attacks. Muslim women wearing traditional clothes were spat upon, physically assaulted and had their scarves ripped from their heads. Mosques were firebombed and Islamic schools and other community facilities vandalised or deluged with hate mail. Without any substantiated evidence, homes of Muslim students in Sydney, Melbourne and Perth were raided by Australian Federal Police and the Australian Security Intelligence Organization, seizing properties and interrogating terrified Indonesian families...

Racism in Australia is not new phenomena, and it is not prompted by the 9/11 or the Bali bombing, as suggested. Racism is a diet feed continuously to the public by conservative political parties and mainstream media. Evidence of surveys carried out in Australia in the late 1980s found Muslims are the most discriminated and victimized Australians.

The Human Rights and Equal Opportunity Commission (HR&EOC), the Australian Government agency, reports evidence about a rise in violence against Muslims and Arabs. A key finding of the report was that 90 per cent of female respondents reported experiencing racism abuse or violence. However, the Race Discrimination Act - which covers Jews and Sikhs - does not recognize Muslims as an "ethnic group" and protection of Muslims under Australian federal law is limited. "While the government has created a climate where many non-Muslim Australians live with a perception of fear of Muslims, it is Muslim and Arabic Australians who are living in a state of real fear, based on their frequent, sometimes daily, experience of physical and verbal abuse and discrimination" write Sarah Stephen in Green Left Weekly, the only honest newspaper in Australia.

In Australia, Muslim refugees and asylum seekers fleeing war torn countries are completely removed from humanity. They are detained in remote centres and stripped of their human rights and dignity. They are portrayed as "illegal" immigrants and "potential terrorists". The fact that, thousands of illegal immigrants are white Anglo-Saxon living and working illegally in Sydney and Melbourne, shows how tolerant Australia is? Illegal immigrant it seems, if you're not white.

Thousand of Muslims (Iraqis and Afghanis) have been killed as a result of US wars on Iraq and Afghanistan, adding to the thousands of innocent Muslims killed or imprisoned since the "end" of these wars. The so-called "democracy" and "freedom" have been denied to the people of Iraq and the people of Afghanistan. The "war on terror" is a distraction, and it is nothing but an extension of globalisation fuelled by anti-Muslims racism to wage war and control vital resources located in the Muslim world.
With the destruction and occupation of Iraq by US forces, we are witnessing more dramatic misrepresentation of Islam and Muslims. Muslims who opposed to this imperial ideology are portrayed, as "terrorists", and Islam will continue to be reduced according to this Western ideology.

I spied a 50p on my desk so decided to draw Britannia that was on the tails side. I'm not that patriotic, but I do love the the immagery and sence of identity we have when it comes to stuff like this. And I do like being British. Or mainly living in Britain. I like that there is history and culture and a good story wherever I go and all the quirks and eccentricities that come with it. And I would always procliam myself British first. Never Welsh. Despite being born and raised in Wales I ('ve been made to) feel like I don't belong. But that doesn't matter. There's more than enough to keep me entertained here. Anyway, yay for our little island and all its stuff.

wasn't quite sure if I should put this in traditional or digital because I drew it with a nib and then colored it in photoshop.

anyway, still struggling to get this Kenpachi and Yachiru thing out of my system. One day I saw this one fan art of the two of them taking a bath together. It bordered on kiddie porn (you could plainly see Kenny's shlong and he was playfully giving yachiru noogies). It disturbed me not because of said shlong, but because of the uncharacteristic nurturing playfulness of Kenpachi. eechhh...

From what I could see in the original series, the farther away from the sereitei you are in the soul society, the less order and civilization there is, so I imagined one of the first real bath they would have together would be pretty early on and likely in a natural hotspring or some other outlet. Naturally I assumed that Yachiru would be immediately curious about the obvious physical differences between them. Kenpachi doesn't strike me as the touchy feely parental type, or even a true parental type for that matter.

Turns out Photoshop can do it for you! It would work much better if you start with a horizon line and line up the grids with said horizon line, but either way this is much better than using line tool and having to eyeball the vanishing points.

Feature should be available on CS2 and higher, not sure about older versions.

revergelabs.com mentioned they where collecting some genderflips in a recent Fan Art Friday entry so ofc I had to get on that boat! I just drew a few fellas I felt like drawing...I'm actually busy with some other stuff so it's a little rushed.

Not much to say on top row, just tweaking clothes and hair to look more guy-appropriate. How can those nails not break? well you s(discont.)

Valentine and Fortune gets two versions since I couldn't decide what flavor I liked the most. Kitty ended up with a sporty look since those short-shorts are just not seen much elsewhere, and the other is...uuuhhhh...Men in big sweaters is cute and it creates a fun...silhouette...? Mainly I just wanted something shameless to counter the underboob action in canon.

Meanwhile to the right a sexy nurse/ninja combo is kinda hard to translate since male nurses doesn't quite carry same fetish fuel but normal scrubs actually merge well with ninja clothing I'd say. Had to try out a plain doctor look too of course, cool and/or mysterious doctors are a shoujo/BL character staple after all!

So, I did a little wing thing (Or, I did this a long time ago but never bothered to upload it). I'm no wing-major, but I thought it was funny to do and that perhaps someone would appreciate it considering how effing difficult it is to draw wings...

Some responses to "Bromango" [link] suggested that a male version of Gogo is basically only a few clicks away from being Nathan Explosion. To which I replied:

Finally finished! Round two for the #Trolldown-OCT

I'm probably shooting myself in the foot for this round of the contest by doing a single illustration and not a comic. However, I really didn't want to have some half-assed sketchy storyboard again, so I tried to do one illustration that could tell a little bit of a story.

I figure Iomos here would be at a bit of a disadvantage in the Alternian sun. Nereid has her large shawl to shield her eyes, where Iomos really doesn't have anything AND he pretty much lives in a cave, so he's really not accustomed to any sort of daylight.

So we have Nereid basically about to smash his face in, with Iomos probably throwing out a wild kick hoping he can see enough of his target to land some sort of blow. The two probably held out in that indent in the sand dune until the hoofbeast stampede passed them by. I mean, they both don't like the ocean dwellers and could share some sentiments, and Nereid really wouldn't have wanted to fight amongst a bunch of smelly beasts (and I didn't really want to draw a stampede anyway), so they probably chatted rather pleasantly until the time was right.

I might try and do a smaller, black and white illustration to finalize this piece, but time might not work to that end very well. We shall see.

I really had to do a Mias reaction pic.

I was going to add some dialogue to this, but it seemed unnecessary to tease Mias further with;

"Mias, hey Mias... guess where Rene's other hand is..."

As to the situation as to how Mias would be viewing this, well, I'm thinking he's looking through a wall with x ray vision. There's no way these girls would let him watch... well Elle anyway... not too sure about Rene. Maybe she's into that. XD

For my first proper girl on girl bow chicka bow wow pic I'm pretty happy with how this turned out. It made me chortle. Maybe its just because of Mias' reaction.

Now to be perfectly honest, these aren't all doodles from work. Half of them I actually did over the course of last year, but never got around to posting them.

So! Wut do we have here, today?

To start off, the boy at the top is Chiro from 'Super Robot Monkey Team Hyperforce Go!' Laugh at the title all you want. It's still awesome. I think one of the guys who worked on 'Teen Titans' made this show. It has it's corny moments, but it's a good time for everyone, in my opinion. ^_^ Try to find some eps on YouTube.

Still got a good deal of Genderbent Adventure Time, as well as a little cameo by Maly & Arcell! Not to mention a little chibi-filler with Ellie & Abby from the Let Me/The Right One In movies~ And if you don't know the girl with the pink hair & hoodie, she's Lyuze from the anime 'Casshern Sins'. It's beautiful. GO WATCH IT.

And I swear that Defect!TurretxOracle!Turret from Portal is now my OTP. It's too fuckin' adorable for this world.

Then we got 2009!Kirk & Spock crashin' this party too. Meh. Kirk prolly just sees somethin' shiny.....that or boobs. I dunno. AND ALSO STARFIRE & SILKIE FTW OMG. <3

Also got some Human!Mordecai & Eileen in here. ^_^ (And godamit Rigby....Eileen is adorable. As much as I ship you & Mordecai, I have to ask myself what's wrong with you. >_>)

And...oh! What's this scattered about the page? Yep. I'm now a Sherlock fan. Goddamn british with their awesome shows. >_> And oh, the gay subtext. I can't begin to even...
