A commission for the very nice Catsiee, I've been working with him on a few occasions and it's always a lot of fun to paint his characters! I enjoyed doing something out of my usual floral and girlie theme, and it was lots of fun to figure out how to paint horn -let alone learn how an elk looked like!

Drawing childish lines is actually very difficult! Even when I didn't use any refs and deliberately held the pen wrong, I still drew a realistic-looking rabbit. I ended up imitating online examples of children's drawings. >_<

This is a brief two page narrative for my department's "Meanwhile" comic. I have never done a sequential piece before, so I am proud that I pulled something off. It's mainly thoughts on the hunter and the hunted and relationships, exploring character design/interaction. I am not sure if I will do more things like this in the future, but I hope you like it! This is an illustration based on Russell Edson's poem, "Erasing Amyloo".

"A father with a huge eraser erases his daughter. When he finishes there's only a red smudge on the wall.
His wife says, where is Amyloo?
She's a mistake, I erased her.
What about all her lovely things? asks his wife.
I'll erase them too.
All her pretty clothes? . . .
I'll erase her closet, her dresser--shut up about Amyloo! Bring your head over here and I'll erase Amyloo out of it.
The husband rubs his eraser on his wife's forehead, and as she begins to forget she says, hummm, I wonder whatever happened to Amyloo? . . .
Never heard of her, says her husband.

Beginnings

I got some feedback recently that I never did landscapes, so I dug through my drafts and found a messy sketch from 2009, and then expanded the image a ton and fixed it up. The original sketch only had the top 1/4 of the image, and it was all just plain hills. This was originally inspired by a part from the book I was reading at the time (Jonathan Strange & Mr Norrell), and on my repaint I redid a lot of areas and threw in inspiration from the book I’m reading now (The Silmarillion). That said, it's not fan art (it's not anywhere near accurate for it to be fan art, haha), it's more just me pulling bits of pieces of ideas that I liked from different places.

Yeah, now I`m into this "Adventure Time" show (no Mass Effect fanart for a while, sorry), `cause it`s actually amazing and incredibly funny.
Well, except for that "I Remember You" episode, which is very distressing. Also my cat has died few days ago and this is really a depression time for me (I doubt that it`ll end soon...). So I`ve decided to draw a little - you know, as a distraction - and it ended up with this. Have fun, guys.

P.S. Somebody on Tumblr noticed that Gary Jules`song "Mad World' perfectly fit for Simon and Marceline`s sad story, and I completely agree with it.

She was plenty fun to work on, from her face, to her weapons and to her clothing. Everything just had to work together to achieve a character that the gaming audience could relate to more, but without it being too scifi. Her gun? Oh, thats just from weapon technology that the Prawns left us with

Quick one! I had a big crush on Jim Lee's Jubilee during the early 90's when I was reading X-Men. Often people pan her as the most "useless" X-Men, but as one of my friends pointed out that's why a lot of Gen-Xers could empathize with her.

EDIT (info): I would like to mention since a couple people have pointed out her eye color, in the early 90's colorists colored her eyes blue, and I also thought it was strange because I knew her character was Asian (as a half-Chinese person myself, I paid attention to the phew Asian superheroes that existed!). This was eventually chalked up to "oh well, she's a mutant, lots of mutants have abnormally colored eyes." Eventually it was made standard that her eyes were brown, but not when Jim Lee was drawing her!

Update: Made it easier to see since I received some comments from blind people (apparently) who said that everything was confusing and the numbering made no sense. So I put it in order (left-to-right). Update: Cool, a DD. Also, added meters and fixed scaling miscalculation.

I just finished up illustrations for the 2014 Astrology Calendar for Llewellyn Worldwide. Here is the cover art I did earlier this year. I'll hopefully be able post the interior illustrations for each sign at some point. For the sake of fitting everything on the cover, I had to use some of the symbolic animals/objects (crab, scorpion, ox, etc) whereas for the individual illustrations, each one is personified instead; I tried to take special care with each one. You can preorder the calendar if you like, or just check out the rest of Llewellyn Worldwide's offerings at www.llewellyn.com.
(edit: I realize looking at it now that Sagittarius' archery form is very off; I had help getting the actual Sagittarius illustration properly posed, so hopefully I can show that soon )
