Darkstalkers Resurrection Key Art

Finally I can reveal this piece of art that I did recently for Capcom's upcoming title: Darkstalkers Resurrection. It was announced last week at NYCC where I did some signings and gave away this as posters. It was such a great joy working with the Capcom team.

Hi guys, I wanted to show you something I had worked on this past summer. For the past three years, Threadless.com and Chris Cardinal have held a cake decorating contest in which you choose a Threadless shirt design and turn it into a cake. I chose to do Sugarland by Andreas Krapf.(here is the shirt [link]) It took two weeks of working with fondant and painting with royal icing and food coloring. I was really proud of this, and actually won the grand prize for the 2-D cake category.

The Creation of Mario

Shigeru Miyamoto creates Mario in a parody of Michelangelo's "Creation of Adam" from the Sistine Chapel.

Oh boy! What a journey on this drawing. I was joking with my best friend around about doing a drawing like this and after a few ideas of doing classic game characters in well known masterpieces, we came up with this crazy idea.

I know there's quite a few inaccurate attributions to Miyamoto on some of the characters represented here but I really wanted him to be surrounded by some of Nintendo's finest .

I'm aware that I'm also missing some females like Pauline from the original Donkey Kong but it was getting a bit crowded in that little swarm so I kept it limited to some of the more recognizable characters.

From left to right: Mario, Midna, Shigeru Miyamoto, Daisy, Princess Peach, Toadette, Zelda and Birdo. Lower row: Rosalina and Samus.

The leaf is from Super Mario Bros. 3. It's the one that grants you the raccoon tail.

Had a lot of fun drawing this one out! Created in Adobe Photoshop CS4.

A Hetalia Dress Up game! I wanted to do this for so long xD I wish I could have included more characters but the space I had was too small T-T Also the clothes are a bit cramped. Well leaving those things aside I had fun doing this and I love how the final game turned up. I want to add more clothes soon, tell me if you have any ideas ^^

3 Comic Strips for Anime Nerds

These 3 strips aren't particularly funny, haha, but I wanted to make them specific to the anime-fan culture. We should be able to make fun of ourselves from time to time, yeah?

These are old comic strips I drew in May of 2008 for a summer comics class. The instructor of the course, Adam Fotos and I had actually both just graduated at the time (grad and undergraduate programs, respectively) but I stuck around for a bit so I could sit in on the class.

At the end of the course, several of the comics made by each of the 13 students were compiled into an anthology called DER--As in:

"Are comics art?"
"DER!"

Seriously. Lol.

The book, is available for purchase on lulu.com, however it can also be downloaded for free! Just a warning though...it's over 160 pages, so you'll need to be patient with the download. I pity the fool who doesn't have high-speed internet.

Did this piece for Acme Archives Direct for a run of limited edition prints based off of the cartoon Family Guy. The artist series is called Family Guy C.R.A.P ( a Collection of Rare Art Pieces). They are doing an art opening Sat. Oct 18th at a gallery called La Luz De Jesus located in Los Angeles. Sadly i'm on the East coast and can not go, but it will feature my piece plus 20 other artists wicked cool interpretations of Family Guy characters. What?? No BLEACH? Haha yes, I'm also a fan of Naruto believe it or not. Can't say which one I like better but I've been a fan of Kishimoto's works ever since Volume 1 of Naruto and THAT was some time ago! An inspiring mangaka!

I know a lot of you have already seen this.. but alas, it is time for me to upload it. One of my personal favorites. Decided to go a little crazy with this and yes, it is a little different from my usual style of painting and drawing. Hope you all like it!

Here is the long awaited fanart for Toshiro Hitsugaya! I was meaning to upload this a lot sooner, but as circumstances would have it I had an extremely busy summer this year.

Once again, thanks to for her help and constructive criticism throughout this illustration.

When I first started this piece, I had the page scaled vertically like my other BLEACH fanarts, but I decided halfway through that a landscape (horizontal) spread would work best. A lot of people ask how long these usually take me. This particular illustration illo took about 4 days from sketch/ink (yes I do ink my pieces)/rough colors/final paint pass.

So I started on this back in May, and all went well until I got stuck on the Hammer Bro. A couple of days ago I picked it up again, without the Hammer Bro. Serves you right, you tool throwing dick. Thanks for the delay.

Why a photoshoot? It wasn't intended at first, but someone pointed out that it looked like they were posing for one. I don't know how you would go about to gather all these enemies and make them stay in one place for that long. Bowser, Chain Chomp and Shyguy are the only ones who seem to look into the camera, though.

Photoshop CS2, too many hours. I'll go lay down now.

Copic Color Chart 2008

NOTE: I DO NOT HAVE EVERY COLOR AVAILABLE. Meaning, this chart is not complete, obviously (pfft, I wish ;_; ). I believe there's at least 200 more colors not on here.

Since a lot of people always ask me which Copic markers I use/how many I have/which colors are my favorites/what they should get, I'm putting up my chart that shows every color I have :3

I made this when I got my first set and I add to it whenever I buy a new marker. It's useful when you're coloring and you have way too many colors on hand to memorize D:

Under the gray section, N, C, W, and T stands for Neutral, Cold, Warm, and Toner respectively.

The red underlined colors are the ones I use most often, therefore my personal favorites. I would recommend them to people who are, like me, on a constant hunt for new marker colors

Hope this will be helpful to the Copic artists out there!

FAQ:
- "Where to buy these markers and how much?" If you're in the US, I recommend www.carpediemstore.com where they sell them for $4.50-5 each. If you're out of the states, you can try your luck with ebay and www.dickblick.com.

- "Are the colors accurate?" Scanning did change a few shades, but I've tweaked the levels on Photoshop the best I could for them to look the same as the actual colors, so it should be somewhat more reliable than the official Copic chart (which we all know sucks :/). But again, I don't have all of the colors.

An illustration completed for Paizo showing a plagued ship with a single lit lantern sailing into the harbour of Korvosa. Bad news for that town!

Had a lot of fun with this illustration and used different elements such as the fog, clouds, and general lighting to create the eerie mood that Paizo was looking for.

Rukia was the most requested Bleach character based on a Poll I had created in '07 [link] Not sure how many of my watchers from last summer are still here, but hope you guys didn't mind the wait

This illustration actually took me a very long time to make. In fact, I have three different complete versions of this.. I liked this (the last) version best and scrapped the other two. Big thanks for my GF for helping me out on this.

Some of you may have already seen this, from conventions I had attended earlier in the year. Some of you might even have the 13 x 19" large format glossy print on your walls already and a big shout to you all for supporting me in the Artist Alley!!

Perhaps I should set up another poll this year to see what characters I should do next!

Here is the long awaited epic Ichigo piece done for Otakon '07! This captures one of my favourite moments in the manga/anime, and it is during the epic battle with Byakuya where Ichigo releases his bankai for the very first time!

This was sold as a 13x19" print, and I would like to thank EVERYONE who supported it at Otakon! ;D You guys rock! Also thanks to ~nayuki-chan for providing constructive crits throughout the making of.

plush toast keychain tutorial

I made this in MS Paint, so it might be a bit pixelated.

This tutorial is made for those ppl who wants to start plushie making in an easy way.

That's why I choose to do a piece of toast XD It's fairly simple & straight forward.

Well...actually, I am planning to start a breakfast keychain plushie series, but school is starting TOMORROW!

So, I don't know when is the next time I can start making plushies again T-T and I probably won't have time to finish the "Nyanko Fries" to go along w/ the Nyanko Burger for the junk food contest either....oh well

Bleach bookmark - Ichigo

This is my realistic take on Kurosaki Ichigo from Bleach. Once again, I have a few leftover bookmarks from Otakon and I'll have more information in my journal tomorrow regarding how you can purchase the leftovers from me. And I'll note those who have inquired about them so far.

This is just a teaser pic. I felt I didn't do Ichigo enough justice this time around so I actually made another more epic Ichigo print, which I will be uploading TOMORROW!!! (some of you from Otakon have been asking about it.. hehe sorry for the slow updates.. I wanted to save the best for last )

This is my realistic take on Ulquiorra Schiffer from Bleach. This was sold as a bookmark and as a print at Otakon (07). If anyone is interested in getting a bookmark, I still have a few leftover from the convention. It even comes laminated with a tassel! I'll be posting more information and actual photos of the bookmark in my journal after I've uploaded the last character -- Ichigo!!
