For Happy Birthday to a great man!

He probably won't see this, nor does he have time right now I'm sure, but despite my own busy schedule I REALLY needed to to draw Squiggly today. It's his birthday and SkullGirls is SO CLOSE...

I remember a lot of weirdly specific things VERY clearly. I remember the exact intersection we were stopped at, time of a day, and what I was wearing when I was 5 and asked my mother Whats a volcano? I remember very vividly picking a specific red and black tube to keep my POGs in at a local comic store. It cost $4.96, and I had my Jurassic park T-Shirt on.

I also remember being in the computer lab after school in 8th grade, after school. I was looking up cool video games to buy for my new playstation. Some guy was posting on some crappy forum about this Guilty Gear game and how awesome it was, and linking some of his art. This guy was Alex Ahad, who I have followed around the internet ever since. I remember the links and images very specifically. It was this crazy art that was like not quite anime, not quite cartoons

Those posts, ultimately, really influenced me. I spent many a month studying error4o4 before I even knew, well, anything about illustration at all. Hell, I remember finding this blue-haired robot girl, clad in a white one-piece bathing suit with red eyes on his page. And I wondered to myself, WHAT FUCKING AWESOME RPG IS THIS GIRL FROM?!

Looking at the shows, characters, and designs that I have come to appreciate in life, I really can trace a LOT of myself back to that forum. Hes also the artist I studied (study) the most when it comes to colors I dont know if you can SEE it or not, but his galleries are always on standby for me to reference and draw inspiration from. The dude is moving on to some well-deserved, LONG OVERDUE greatness, and I just want to say Happy Birthday to him.

P.S. Squiggly deserves better than DLC. She always has. She should be on the cover. Of your games disc release. Which it deserves.

First off, this is a HUGE file. lol. You just couldn't see things as nicely with the %50, so you get around %80, my peeps.

Anyway, I'm kind of on the fence with this one as far as to whether or not I am going to make this a print for Fanime. Generally, I like this image but it seems to be missing something, not sure what.

Uh... I wanted to draw a bad-ass, tattooed, gunslinger, cowgirl and that's the only way I can explain this. hahahaha. I named her Stella b/c it seemed to fit. This took me an incredibly long time to do considering that it is double the size submitted. I would say it took about 20 hours or so...

Anyway, this is one of the drawings that I will be taking prints of with me to FanimeCon. You can also buy prints here on DA as well. Enjoy!

I had a little time after workimg on commissions to pump out another. XD I bet you are getting pretty sick of me by now since I NEVER submit this much! XD But since they all are going to have the same essential pose and no shading is involved; they are easy to make.

Also, she is already a pre-existing character of mine so, even easier. Just never drawn her full-body before.

I made a few changes. Like, her spikes weren't nearly as large but It seems that with fighting games, over-exaggerated is the way to go. lol. Also, I had never given her a name till now. Mostly b/c I couldnt think of one I liked. I was drawing and "Judith" by A Perfect Circle played on my playlist and I was like "that'll work."

This is Aziza. :3 She is an Abiku. Which is an evil spirit that is said to eat children and whose hunger is never satisfied b/c they have no stomach. (thus why no midsection)

She was an african princess who was turned into an Abiku by a voodoo curse. :3 But more on that later

EDIT: Okay, I've been told this on several forums and I'll just say it now, shes not a hollow or espada or what have you. I have never seen Bleach so she's not modeled after that show in any way. <__<

Alrighty, this is Ume and Sutoku and they are the Tengu of the group. :3

So for those that dont know. Sutoku was actually one of the Japanese Emporers. After he died, it was believed that he was reborn as a Tengu. So, I thought it would be fun to play with the idea of his soul possessing a Tengu mask and him in turn, possessing Ume.

Thus why the mask's eyes would move and its expression would change.

I will make another little profile sheet for these past three that will go into it a little more. :3

This is Eudora, she is a Gorgon :3

Gorgons are from greek mythology. There was really ever only 3 gorgons, Medusa and her sisters but the stories on gorgons vary.

The most common version of gorgons is that they have snakes for hair, claws and fangs. She has fangs and snakes for hair, but her claws are just really long nails. XD Also, it's supposed to be venemous snakes but the only real venomous snake in Greece is the Adder. BUT they kind of have a diamond-back pattern and they are a dull color. So I just made some random snake with an orange color with a off-white belly. :3

An interesting fact: Apparently the Greeks just HATE snakes. They are known to swerve their cars in the streets just to run one over. XD Not really having to do with this image but I read it somewhere while I was researching XD

This is Lidiya. She is Baba Yaga as suggested by

Baba Yaga is supposed to be an old woman but (and this is just my story for it, not the actual myth) in order to continue living for hundreds of years, Baba Yaga has to take over the body of a young woman. (Sort of like how Orichimaru does it and why he wants Sasuke. lol. Sorry, only example I could think of)

Baba Yaga is said to have many servants (this part is true to the myth, btw. X3 ) one of which are three pairs of disembodied hands. I decided just to give her one pair and they help her fight :3

As far as her clothing goes, I tried to bring in a few elements from most of the slavic regions. Some of these include Ukrainian, Russian, Polish, and Czech. (For the czech part, I looked at Mucha's art) So, really, it's not just one in particular. :3

Anyway, don't let her innocent looks fool you! There is a very powerful sorceress under there.

This is Deniz, she is Tiamat.

Tiamat is a Babylonian Goddess of the sea and represents primordial chaos. She is usually depicted as a sea serpent of some sort, but the first sentence in Wiki says: "Tiamat is the sea, personified as a goddess and a monstrous embodiment of primordial chaos" so I imagine she can be represented by anything relating to the ocean :3

I have her here as something of a mix of a fish and an octopus (obviously!) And I quite like her that way, so please dont tell me I made Tiamat wrong or something. :/ Doing that makes baby kittens cry. True Story.

Anyway, her name is Turkish, so the girl here is Turkish also :3 Anddddd... I dont know what else to say...

OH YEAH. I didnt draw the back this time around b/c honestly, you'd probably never be able to see it anyway XD

This is Carmesina, she's an Aloja (water-woman)

Aloja's are said to have red or golden hair and deep blue eyes. They are also said to be able to turn into water blackbirds. :3

Aloja's are from Catalonia which is a province (although im not sure if province is the right word) of Spain.

I kind of liked the idea of her being gypsy-like. I looked it up and the roma people have quite a population in Spain, so it works! X3

This is Olive, she is the banshee although she doesnt look it.

She is an avid equestrian during the day but at night she is forced to be a banshee. She never gets any sleep, thus the dark circles under her eyes.

She is a good ol' Irish girl, like myself X3

I like having some of the girls as pretty much normal, everyday people who have this other side of them. So dont tell me that she doesnt look much like a banshee to you. either way, she would have attacks that involve her screaming and singing and the like.
