Here's something I wanted to do after the Holiday Card art I've done earlier. I liked the concept so I wanted to define it a little more. Now I've got some stuff running around in my head. I hope I can flesh things out more for this and not leave it with this much.

Had to do another one. Checked out some really cool people's steampunk costume designs for this so the outfit has many inspirations. However I'm not particularly fond of how the design turned out for this one compared to the earlier ones. Will probably do more stuff on the subject later.

I couldn't let go of the subject matter so here's another similarly themed piece that I've worked on and off during my free time.

As always the scan doesn't reflect the real colours on the piece so I had to make a bit of colour correction. Did help but not much.

Im not a particular big fan of Monicas, but I dont hate her or anything. Im glad she keeps popping up here and there for Marvel, especially in Captain Marvel.

Her suit is pretty simple, I did adjust some things. Gone with the jacket (hate jackets on people who dont need them), made the costume full (I think her hands were uncovered so that could mean that her arms were too?), and added that shoulder color.

And truth be told, have no clue what her logo is suppose to completely look like so heres the basic with some added wavy lines. Whooooo! wavy lines!!

It seems I'm on an Avengers kick this week.

Today Marvel announced a series of variant covers they will be releasing this April under the banner "Avengers Art Appreciation". Throughout the month, "fans will have the opportunity to see their favorite super hero team in the styles of the worlds greatest artists like Rembrandt, Michelangelo, Monet, Pollock, Schielle and more!" I was asked to participate in the fun, with a tribute piece to Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, for which I decided to reference his famous litho, Moulin Rouge: La Goulue. Hope you like!

Above is my cover for issue 10 of Marvel's The Defenders, featuring a story by Matt Fraction and Jamie McKelivie. Apparently, this issue re-introduces Ant-Man into the group, hence this insect-scale cover. Simultaneously, I'm paying a bit of an homage to the old eighties Marvel Universe official handbooks.

It was really fun getting to draw a group of characters I'd never tackled before - particularly the Master of the Mystic Arts, Dr. Strange!

MARCH 2013, Retro style.......Ok, the hardest part is finding the photographs............. the second hardest part was getting the color reference on all these obscure as hell bad guys that I needed to color for the big pin-up......it's originally a black and white page from the 1977 Mighty Marvel Superheroes Fun Book #2, artist UNKNOWN, if anybody has a clue I'd love to find out! I always dug that mess of villains when I was little, I never thought I'd end up coloring the Space Turnip some day.... yeah, he's in there!

I LOVE the flow of this one, great art all around! Other artists include Chris Sprouse, Chris Samnee, Jaime Hernandez, Kerry Gammil, Guy Davis, John Byrne, Scott Williams, George Perez, Jason Pearson, Chris Bachalo, Ed Mc Guinness, Dave Johnson, John Romita Sr. and Andrew Robinson!

This was really fun, and I thought a nice upload for the winter, so close to Christmas.

Story goes, the guy who commissioned this was building a portfolio of villains. He had a whole list of villains to choose from, and man... it was a tough choice. So many great bad guys! It finally came down to Victor, here, because I knew I could get some great lighting effects and didn't suspect he would be a character that would be requested very often.

I spent a lot of time on it, partly because the further I got into it the better it was looking and that made me want to really just kill it with all the skill I could muster. I wish I had a better copy of it than the poor photo you see above, but that's all I can get at conventions. It'll have to do.

So merry Christmas to some, happy holidays to the rest, and a cozy winter to all. May your loved ones never contract an incurable illness that drives you to madness, falling in a vat of chemicals that requires you to live in sub-zero temperatures, and continually clashing with a caped vigilante who beats you senseless.

This is the cover for Fearless Defenders #2 for Marvel Comics. This issue is the debut of Dani Moonstar into the team so I wanted to do something that announces her arrival and is very eye catching as well so I thought an action figure package would be a cool idea and create a cool illusion for the cover. I wanted to go very realistic with the action figure part so I tried to make it look as convincing as possible. If I did my job you might find some people in the comments who didn't read the description and think it's an actual figurine in its package. The other characters on the cover are Valkyrie and Misty Knight. Penciled and inked on Bristol board and digitally painted in photoshop.

Godzilla (ゴジラ Gojira?) is a Kaiju (Giant monster), first appearing in Ishirō Honda's 1954 film Godzilla. Since then, Godzilla has gone on to become a worldwide pop culture icon starring in 28 films produced by Toho Co., Ltd. The monster has appeared in numerous other media incarnations including video games, novels, comic books, and television series. A 1998 American remake was produced and a second American version is in development.

When is information true and useful and when is it just “propaganda?” Why in fact is an image or phrase or animated art sequence “propaganda” rather than it simply being a “lie?” What about acceptable lies that define our society as much as they degrade it - - for example commercials that obviously hype a product with untruths or political advertisements full of unachievable platitudes.

But anyway this particular Storm was inspired by a piece done by [link].

I thought he created a beautiful design, so I wanted to do some fanart of it. I used my own face as a reference for this one; I wanted her to have a certain LOOK, but just couldn't achieve it freehand.
This was done a while ago. I just uploaded it now because soon after the creation of this piece, the motherboard on my laptop died, and I hadn't saved this image to my external *headdesk* The rest of my White Hot Woman series was on that HD too *headfloor*
Luckily, I had saved this image to my phone (don't judge me) so I was able to email it to myself from said phone.

behold mine sketch(?)dump! actually it varies between digital sketches and partially finished works, but whatever. This is a cross-section of semi-recent stuff i never got around to finishing of varying heart and quality. (there's more digital stuff laying around, and plenty of sketchbook stuff, but i didn't feel like scanning or searching very hard...in fact this is quite lazy, but there you go)

it's...yeah

a particular favorite of mine is the top row, second from the left, with Gogojira battling space monsters on a command center screen while Commander Didi dances "Eye of the Tiger". (i guess you had to be there) or the obscure song reference in the piece featuring a slightly older Andy doing a determined climb.

some of it i might get around to finishing, if not, well, this much is expunged and we press forward. anyway, hopefully this qualifies as something of a treat and not just a horrible mess

New Mutants 90's style

One of my old school fave books was New Mutants. But it was back when crossovers were becoming popular and with X-factor, New Mutants, Fallen Angels, X-men and X-terminators crossing over during inferno I got completely lost on who was on what team. So I just threw in a bunch that I BELIEVE were all New Mutants at the time.

Illyana/Magik;Cannonball, Leech, Rusty, Boom Boom, Artie, Warlock, Wolfsbane & Sunspot.

*Edit* Changed the bg effect. That red blood stain thing was annoying the hell out of me. Thanks to Chamba for the bg fix idear.
