Graphite Brushes

These brushes simulate graphite/pencil in photoshop.

There are 2 types of brushes, 'sketchy' and smooth. There are angled and round versions of each.

I intended these to be used by people who want to use Drawing Tablets in Photoshop, but they can be used with a mouse as well. However, you won't be able to benefit from the Pen Pressure settings.

Tips:
Make sure you put your colours as default-- Black and White, or set the top colour for whichever hue you'd like, I find that darker colours produce a better result.

If you'd like it to 'build up' like a real pencil you should have the brush set to Darken and/or lower the opacity.

If you want to make these seem more "H" or "B" just go to brush settings and toy with the opacity, flow, and fore/background jitters.

Well, here it is. The project that has eaten up my last three months worth of weekends (some were not as busy as others ).

This, my dearies, is my takeoff on Leonardo's Last Supper. All of the characters are from the Thimble Theater strip by E.C. Segar, which later became just the Popeye comic strip. I tried to keep most of the characters in the same positions as the apostles are in Leonardo's version, and tried to put in a few little fun things relating to the original. For instance, putting Olive in the same place as the apostle John, who some believe to be Mary Magdelene. I also had to put Brutus in the place of Judas Iscariot, and have him holding money (pieces of silver). Some theories also say that both Judas and Christ were reaching for the Eucharist in Leo's version, so I included that too, replacing the bread with limes so they don't get scurvy. And the cigar in the ashtray is a tribute to Popeye's creator E.C. Segar who used to sign his drawings with a little cigar with the smoke forming the letter "S" in his name. The halo effect in the wood around Popeye was pretty much an accident, perhaps there was divine intervention? I originally debated putting more stuff in the background like nets, fishing poles, harpoons and all kinds of nautical shit, but the original had a big empty background so I decided against it. I think this one turned out pretty well and hopefully I can sell it for a boatload of money (no pun intended!).

I think he turned out pretty darn good, despite the fact that I got bored by the end and haven't made a background!

This is based off a drawing by `delya~ which you can see HERE!

I had always liked the drawing and for whatever reason never made it until now. There was actually a lot more I wanted to do to the image, like more bloody drippy splattyness, but I ran into several technical issues that could have been resolved had I had more processing power. So instead I decided to go the other direction and make him more sterile looking (hence the title). I didn't ad the foot pads you commonly see in the Zurd because first of all it wasn't in the original sketch, but also because it drew too much attention away from what was important; the stitches cuts and heart.

I don't think much else need be said.

Technical Details

Made in Maya 7, rendered in mental ray. Modeling was a combination of polygons, subdivision surfaces and NURBS. It was lit with one single giant disk shaped mental ray area light. There was a white environment casting final gather rays into the scene for more ambient lighting. The shaders are all custom made, but not entirely fancy this time. The skin is similar to a standard Maya Ramp shader, and same goes with the rest of the shaders. All the stitches are manually modeled and individual, which was a real pain in the ASS, but it had to be done. Same goes with the internal organs. You can't really see them that well, but they are modeled. Look at the viewport screenshots I posted below to see the detail!

Wanted to do something cooky with the perspective - and while the perspective is cooky, I don't think I got it quite right. But it was fun. ^^ Anyways... Go see Spider-Man 2!!! I always wanted to set up my own webcomic. I played with many different ideas and characters, bu then this story popped into my head. I thought this would be the best option for my comic, as certain elements of the story are true, I find. Like whenever you wear a white shirt, it always gets dirty. Always. Then again, perhaps thats just messy ol' me.

The short brown haired guy is a version of me, and that is how the comic is done, through my eyes. So they will have my experiences/ interests/ memories linked into the comic. Hoefully as I progress, my writing will get better, and I can do a joke with fewer panels, like the ones I got in rough. The problem I had with this one was the colouring, because am not sure whether my scanner is poor qualiy, or if I need o fix Photoshop settings. I know the characters change a little rom panel to panel...I kinda rushed the inking because I was so excited to finish. :S

Anyway, I hope someone out there likes it, and there will be more and better to come. Any criticism or comments welcome. Please.

Hi there!

Yet another "against-the-light" matte painting.
I want to show off a post apocalyptic destroyed cityscape, maybe after a war.

It's done with Photoshop CS and After Effects.
I kept the buildings in several layers and added fog in between.

Finally I rendered a camera pullback in After Effects with a previous version of the matte.

Technical Details

Made in Maya 7, rendered in Mental Ray 3.4.5. Lit with one very large disk area light from the right, and final gathering from the white environment. Reflections were rendered as their own layer in a duplicate scene with extra bright large planes to be reflected. Modeling was done mostly starting with polygons, then switching over to subdivisions later to do the more intricate parts (e.g. the butts!!).

A picture about self-fulfillment.

The bulb is completely modelled in 3dsmax. The plug and the jack are modelled in Rhino 3D. The pose was made with the help of an biped in 3dsmax, so i was able to finalize the choreography very intuitive. This picture rendered about 8 hours on 2 P4´s (3Ghz + 1 Ghz) Finally i´ve slightly added a glowing filter. The final resolution is A4 @ 400dpi. You can watch a zoomable highres version on

Technical Details,

Made in Maya 7, rendered with Mental Ray. Modeling was acheived with a combination of polygons (for the headm ears, and Chucks), NURBS (for the pants and beenie), and subdivision surface for everything else. Hair and tail were done with Maya 7's new hair systems. It was lit with a grey environment, one area light from the front'ish area, and one spotlight in the back for specular backlighting. Shaders for the skin were mental ray subsurface shaders. Almost all other shaders were Maya Ramp shaders. All texturing and the background were done in Photoshop. No need for fancy layers this time, all strait out of Mental Ray this way. NO EDITING. Except for the text, of course. And a special thanks to ~furryomnivore for editing the EXIF data on the image, LOL.

Some things just won't wait.

The flying rig was by far the trickiest thing to get right, the harness was redesigned three times and the wings more than half a dozen before it looked right.
The caterpillar on the other hand was surprisingly easy build. It turns out that there is not a whole lot to a caterpillar and I found a whole bunch of good reference pictures. Fellow 3d artists take note, google image search is your friend.

The swirly plants, as they've been called, were lifted from an older work

Also, in a shocking break from tradition, lighting and texturing were not the never ending nightmare they usually are.

Thanks to who showed me a much better way to light it.

thank God i didn't pick some crazy gallery.

these categories continue to make me laugh.

so ... my favourite subject. i remember making photographs of her when she had almost no hair. sliding down a slide.

seeing a duck for the first time.

i remember when her mother and i separated.

i remembered the empty house.

walking by her room.

empty.

all the care and thought that went into decorating it.

with no one there to appreciate it.

needless to say i moved straight away.

but ... it was all good.

because we have an amazing relationship.

instead of making a photograph of her in a typical fashion ...

i wanted to show the little lady emerging from the little girl.

i wanted to show her reflecting introspective side.

she's such an amazing subject.

follows what i say and puts her own thoughts into the pose.

those days of walking by her empty room when we separated seem like it was a lifetime ago...

i love this wistful pose.

i love the location that is my parent's property.

i love her.

more than i've ever loved anything else in my life.

I dare you to rip this image. In fact, I want you to. Do it to show yourself how pathetic you really are. Show it to all your friends, claim you made it. Spam it to hundreds of wallpaper websites without giving them my contact info. C'mon, you know you want to.

Due to recent piracy problems I felt the need to make this image. More than one person has made profit from images that I gladly share for free, and it's getting on my nerves. All I ask is that people do not sell my images, and link to my original DA pages as credit to me and `delya, but apparently some people don't have that respect. If you ever see this image anywhere without a link to my user page ([link]), I give you permission to go Hulk Smash their asses.

Technical Details

Made in Maya, rendered in Mental Ray 3.4. Lit with bright objects and final gathering only, no lights. Every surface in the scene is a custom written shader except for the ground object, which is a Maya Blinn shader. The shader on the skin is similar to the one I wrote for Love Juice and Shake Your Booty, except this time I started from the ground up and redid it. Modeled mostly with polygons then converted to subdivision surfaces later for more detail control, then converted back to polygons for rendering. The only part that is NURBS is the paint cans, which needed to be NURBS so the shader I used could do anisotropic reflection blurring (similar to the way a DGS shader does). The paintbrushes used real geometry for the brush hairs, which totalled out at about 500,000 polygons for each brush. Why would I do that? Well, I ask you, why not Pushing ridiculous boundaries that I don't have to in teh first palce is what I'm all about!
