In low earth orbit, an astronaut abandons his doomed craft and returns to earth.

Watching the Felix Baumgartner jump was one of the highlights of the year for me. I was really blown away, and this is my homage to that moment: a theoretical look at what advances his jump could bring for space exploration and astronaut survivability. In this case it's a specialized hardened suit that can allow for re-entry from low earth orbit. Not a jump you want to make, but when you have to you'll want to be wearing this suit.

Marine platoon Torch Seven drops onto the faraway planet Vygoire to find out what happened to a science outpost there. The planet is supposed to be zerg-free, and it is . . . mostly. But as it turns out, Torch Seven has enemies other than zerg.

I finished this while stuck in Australia after flying down there for the Heart of the Swarm launch - felt very odd to be working from 'home' home, that's for sure. Ultralisks are always a joy, though.

Black Library: Soul Drinkers Omnibus #1

Breaking the radio silence! Finally got approval to release some screen friendlier versions of the Soul Drinker's covers I did for Black Library back in December; also a big shout out to Darius Hinks at Black Library/GW for being a great producer/art director on this!

"Semi glossy Purple in battle" was quite the challenge to work with for me, and I hope I did the Soul Drinkers justice to all you SD fans out there!

The general brief for the 3 covers was to have a tactical space marine, a captain, and lastly a dreadnought (being awoken). I thought it would be a neat idea to compose all the covers from a similar worms eye angle, not just for theatrics but rather to literally show the life cycle of a Space Marine as he fights and rises through the ranks, leading his brethren and eventually being entombed within a dreadnought to continue his tireless fight. I was told not to reference any notable characters of the SD lore and come up with my own designs. As such, a mini easter egg I had going just for shits and giggles was instead of the main character on each cover becoming the character in the subsequent cover, it was the background marine that made the evolution, implying that maybe the 'cover' characters never survived the cut. Whatevs. I hope you enjoy them regardless!

I'm so dizzy from looking for an Eevee in BW2 that I thought I should just upload some junk and leave the Eevees.... ~~I did catch two, but both of those are boys T__T~~

Anyways, this is a really old picture from the beginning of the year, never uploaded it since I didn't like it >_<; but I'm planning on redoing hers and the rest of the characters' references and since those have their refs up, I thought it would be fair if Aori had at least one too.

Although there have been many design thumbnails of TKP rifels (stein shettiers) I hadn't gotten around to doing some full color finished out pieces (rifles or sub machine guns like this one) till now... expect several more to follow.

The SMS 420, by Geind, is a sub machine shettier utilizing Geind's electro cap ignition gel case (SABOT) shetts. This makes the weapon essentially caseless in operation. The shett (SABOT round) is wrapped in a gel casing that is electrically ignited to serve as propellant for the shett round.

The clip is located on the bottom of the handle grip assembly and that little ring is actually to assist clip ejection (in case of jamming or simply not wanting to drop the clip to the ground). The suppressor is stamped, "E.O.S. REGISTER INS #44",meaning it was registered and inspected by by #44, this also indicates the weapon is native to Indus and was legally obtained (we can only assume).

The Geind SMS 420 was designed in several configurations, with one even more compact than this one. It falls, roughly, within the late 4th gen period. Geind has evolved this design through many earlier variants from as early as the 3rd gen period. The weapon was always favored by sendai though humans have used them as well.

This particular example was owned by a combat taedus.

Warhawks- Lusivakian Airships

A few examples of the airships available to the Lusivakian air fleet in the upcoming RP "Warhawks: Tattered Skies". On average, Lusivakian ships favor heavy armor and heavier firepower, sacrificing agility in the process. While that means they're able to strike targets harder from greater distances, and withstand severe amounts of damage, they're nonetheless vulnerable to units too small for their large guns to hit, such as gunboats and attack planes.

Kolgan class aircraft carrier
Among the largest aerial vessels ever built, the Kolgan class carrier- while the pride of the Lusivakian navy- is nonetheless somewhat dated. At the time it was still being designed, it was nicknamed the "Engineer's Nightmare"- in spite of the advances in airship technology, the concept of keeping such a heavy object aloft and mobile seemed ludicrous. What the Kolgan lacks in speed, it makes up for with its host of onboard fighter, bomber and gunboat squadrons, not to mention its ability to withstand an immense pounding. The SV Vostorin is the only carrier stationed over Almenia.

Mursaw class heavy cruiser
At the war's dawn, many nations saw the benefits of developing lighter, faster airships that supplemented their agility with firepower. The Mursaw class cruiser stands testament to the Lusivakians' idea to go in the opposite direction, preferring instead a fleet of heavily-armed dreadnaughts supported by carrier-based fighters. Rivaling smaller battleships in size, firepower and hull strength, and considerably more ample in supply to boot, these floating monsters are gradually being replaced by more inexpensive, well-rounded successors.

Gyrzniow class destroyer
With guns significantly lighter than those of their larger brethren, destroyers such as the Gyrzniow class act as fighter support vessels, and are made to scrap with smaller ships such as gunboats. Long-range radar also makes it an effective early-warning system, making it an essential element to any escort.

Antonniy Sobczak class gunboat
An upgrade to a dated rip-off of an even older Rogacian design, the Antonniy Sobczak class is small, lightly armored, and packs hardly above-par armaments for its classification. However, its speed makes it an ideal asset for patrols and reconnaissance, with a few generally accompanying a radar-equipped destroyer. They also make ideal fleet escort, able to match more agile Almenian craft, though their real calling is in ground-attack, as it can loom over friendly land units and provide superb fire-support while sustaining significant amounts of damage, while also not being too big or valuable a target.

This time it shows one of the aliens massive ships moving in on an airbase (out of shot) its compliment of fighters take out some F15's the last one being shot out of the sky just as the huge ship emerges from a large storm cloud. A group of other F15's engage the target with no idea if their missiles will have any effect.

The ships design was meant to seem kind of organic and menacing, the race are called the Drag'oo so I kind of took that and made their large atmospheric carrier ships look like dragons, they have many wing like structures that move to stabalise the ships and many of the surface plates move as well.
