Sometime in the near future. Pollution covers the sky. Trashes reach taller than mountains. Earth's land flooded due to global warming. Human's population are almost 3/4 wiped.

The rich and powerful ones move into ridiculously overpriced land and the poor ones desperately scavenge what ever they can find to survive.

Tall buildings are some of the remaining that peak above sea level. The poor utilized whatever they can make of it; most turn it into shelter.

Fishing is largest trades....

Hi!

It's been a while since I've done anything more than a sketch, but over the weekend I finally found some courage to do a painting :3 So, here we go. Done in PS CS3, stretched over 3 days, with lots of breaks. All from imagination, and speaking of that, it turned out fairly close to what I had in mind, so I'm happy <3 And I hope, at least hope that my work is moving in a slightly less boring direction ö_ö I'm tired of my paintings just being technical exercises.

Anyways, thanks for looking! I saved some steps too, go here to see them!

Something a little darker, a little more personal, after all the bright and colorful stuff I did recently.

One thing that really bothers me about our culture is the way war is not just played down, but almost glorified. We're all a part of it, actually guys like me might be the main offender. Videogames like CoD and GoW are essentially a form of pornography, and I find it honestly worrying that one of the most terrible things humanity has brought on itself is handled in a way that makes it seem attractive - this is what I tried to put into this image. I'm not sure as to what way is the best to make a point - show it clearly? But people are desensitized and might even think it's awesome, hurr hurr all the gore that's cool man. No, it's not fucking cool. So, say the opposite instead? It might be misunderstood or seen as pretentious. Hurr hurr, you just want to paint a sexy chick yourself and then afterwards say you put thought into it.
Hard to say. Perhaps I should just keep my mouth shut and just be an observer, not a commentator. It seems that until the start of the 20th century, at least painters have done that, most of the time. But wouldn't that be backing out of responsibility? I don't know. They say a picture is worth a thousand words but sometimes a point is more clearly made by using as few words as possible.

Understanding the world sure is difficult haha.

I actually finished this a couple of days ago already, but I wanted to let it rest for a little to see if I want to change anything aaaand because I've been doing this tutorial!

Sleeping Beauty

It's been a while since I last did a personal piece, so when the chance came around in the form of the Bobby Chiu Fairy Tale Challenge, I wanted to really take some time for it. And I'm glad I did!

Sleeping Beauty is an incredibly inspiring tale I think, and I hope some of that made it into the painting.

Done over 8 or 9 days, all in Photoshop, and as usual without references. But boy, I'm glad I got a new computer. The final file is 800MB, with I don't know how many layers, certainly more than a hundred, at 6400*2700 px.

This is a limited edition print made for this year's San Diego Comic Con. I was midway through working on this when I saw had posted his own Comic Con Sirens print. Total coincidence but I have to concede the facts: He was first and his version is terrific.

I was originally going to incorporate traditionally inked line-work into this but, due to time constraints, I was forced to fall back to my typical digital methods.

I found myself staring at a lot of 's gorgeous art while looking for costume reference because, well, he's just an incredible talent and no one else on the planet depicts these three characters better. So yes, his work influenced me a lot here. Consciously and subconsciously. Thanks for the inspiration Adam.
