Just as I was enjoying the beautiful Indian summer we've been having the God of Autumn (is that Thor? I'm not very good mythology) has decided it's time for rain and cold.

I don't remember many rainy planets in the original Star Wars trilogy, but surely somewhere in the universe there's an Imperial outpost with a temperate climate and a squadron of troopers bemoaning the passing of summer.

Usually, when I'm depressed, I draw rather well, so whenever I feel really sad I try to force myself to draw to see what would come out. I don't necessarily have the best ideas in those cases, but hey, I drew a pretty girl!

I thought she looked kind of Joan of Arc-ish with her page-like hairdo, so I beatified her for the occasion, even if she's naked... I do realize it's weird to have nakedness + beatified in the same sentence and it amuses me!

FINALLY WE FINISHED THIS POSTER

We moved to a new studio, so we wanted to create something for that purpose.
We made a poster with a lot of fun little vehicles and stuff. But we also made sure the poster is still cool for everybody else to hang in their room.

Final poster for the Get Smart project.
It's a brochure for children workshops, and the backside is a poster. The guys on the poster all have a connection to a particular workshop.

We made a mash-up between some new characters, and the city illustration we made earlier. But with a new color scheme. Worked out nice this way I think.

This was done a while ago for an all-female artbook called SUGAR NINJAS volume 2! Well, actually there's two books: the sweet book that's cute and nice, and the spicy book that's more adult-oriented with nudity and violence and such. I made these for the sweet book because most of my stuff went into the spicy one, haha. Although I have to admit I'm not even sure what actually made it into the books... all I know is that I'm in both!

So yeah! The books are B&W but they're insanely thick: 300+ pages each of badass female artists' work, all for about $10 each. A true bargain really!

Cakelab (presented in the logo as "Jerry's Cakelab") is a business merging beautiful and delicious cakes with a scientific mind. The titular Jerry is formerly a scientist who has applied his genius to cake confections, and wanted a logo built around this idea.

Jerry actually had a bit of this idea himself, thinking about integrating a flask and a cake. I thought it was a great idea so I pursued it and the result is as you see here.

A flask adorns the top of a tiered cake, completing the triangular structure the layers of cake visually create. The middle layer of the cake is less ornate than the bottom, as a means of gradating the transition from science to sweets. The implied icing on that layer is also reminiscent of burner coils, kind of a subtle way of implying the flask is being heated (but perhaps something only fellow nerds would appreciate).

The majority of this project was in presenting the idea such that it wasn't too sterile (like science) but also wasn't too fuzzy (like the art of confections is often presented). The result, in my opinion, blends the two well in a professional and memorable fashion.

This is a result of having the time to play around and experimenting with new and old styles, shapes and figures in a minimal aproach. Truth is i wasn't sure when to stop with this but i like how it turned out.
If you look closely there is woman figure in there.
I might just continue this style and try to take it a step further.

Hey folks!

Sketched this, oh...maybe a week ago? I was working on a Zelda-related commission (which I think you guys will like, and I will post once the commissioner gives me the signal) and I had an undeniable urge to draw Link.

If I ever got my hands on the Zelda property (or at least did a fan comic or something - time willing), I would choose to portray an adolescent Link - older than Wind Waker Link but younger than Ocarina/Twilight Princess Link, probably around the age of 15. This is my vision for the kind of Link I would want to draw continuously.

And yes, he would definitely have a fairy. Ocarina of Time is ingrained into my soul, and Link has to have a fairy to be truly complete.

I chose to give him the Kokiri Shield/wooden sword, because there's a certain charm to when you start out with nothing but these cheap little items in your inventory. It's amazing how much character that lends to our mute hero, clearly brave (maybe even stupid) running around with a couple of carved twigs, ready to save the world. ;D
