Finally finished this piece!!My first group art!!Though everyone in this pic is the same character,Mirai suenaga(Danny choo's mascot from culture japan).This is a gift for Mr Danny who'll be hosting the anime festival asia held in Malaysia this year(which I'm so looking forward to).Because all Mirai chan's design were pretty,I can't decide which one to draw and ended up drawing all of it.Thank god I didn't quit halfway despite of how much layers I had to use and my tight timetable.All I can say is this is the best group pic I've done/also my first.I learned that doing a group pic definitely ain't easy..I have to consider the different angle/composition I want in the drawing while balancing the the whole canvas,I need to know how to blend the colours from the different image...which I think I'm still lack of this..but at least I've tried..and I'm very proud of what I could come up with.So enjoy~ ]]>

I've only managed to realized the man-in-the-back-girl-in-the-front part idea being roughly the same as FSN: Unlimited Blade Works poster very recently through an FB comment. During painting I was like "I saw this combination somewhere before recently but from where was it again?". I think the original idea was much older, it's just that ... FSN:UB is not that long ago =_=;

That aside, I wanted this piece to look like a fake movie poster. I haven't been using centered composition for a very long time now and I think it's a good chance to try it again.

I had some influences from how flash photographers do their job, often trying to fight sunlight and such to get the lighting they want, using fills, covering the flash to obscure some part of the scene, etc. Some even used zillions of flash for every nooks and cranks. Excuse me for sounding very noob but it's a new knowledge to me. It sounds very staged but I can't argue with the result.

And thus, I tried this approach of putting extra lights where I needed it to dramatize the scene. Here, it's mostly a strong fill on Mirai that somehow didn't reach Eiji on the back, blue rims on Mirai that also produce extra lighting on Eiji, and orange-ish rims on Eiji as if it's from the sunset on the back. Taking the 'staged' part further, I also tried to arrange the composition to blatantly focus on Mirai's face.

And so, let me also try the 'premium' critique feature . But of course, you don't have to be premium to criticize me, just put them on comment, I'll very much appreciate them!

-shrug- All well. I personally stopped drawing naruto because not only was the series evolving into filler crap, but the fandom just got worse and worse. All of the friends I had into naruto (well, not all, but most) was in some sort of popularity contest to see who could gain the most popularity out of their character. I was just.. sick of it.

Finally, after I drew a piece for a contest, (from what I believe) the girl running it only picked the top three most popular people in the contest and not the best three entries. I felt the contest was rigged and the girl was only popularity hungry, and that was the last time I ever really drew anything from naruto ever since. That killed it for me. I was pissed. I ranked high up, but still, the more popular people won even though there were better entries.

Anyways, this picture is a dedication to one of my first anime series I got into, one of the most inspiring series I've ever seen, and a series that started me off in digital art, which is something I love.
I wish I didn't let the fandom bother me, but I still don't regret stopping drawing naruto. Drawing has become much more fun for me, because I do it for fun and not to match up to other popular artists. : /

Quick information on Yora:

_{Yoratenari (Yora) Tsukimoto comes from a small branch in a large clan. This small branch broke off and left to konoha to expand their knowledge and powers as ninjas, as well as rebel against the original clan line's obnoxious and crazy rules. Despite growing up hearing only bad things and smack talk about the main clan line, Yoratenari always had interest of going there. After assigned a mission with her team to go to the hidden moon village, all of the team members ended up splitting off and not following their orders, Mariko (Male, Yora's best friend, Yora is his love interest) cuts off a bit of yora's hair for a forbidden jutsu involving DNA merging, and runs off. Yora finds her original clan and stays for three years, training and living under the main clan, learning their ways. Due to their strictness, Yora was not allowed to cut her hair. It is believed in their clan that woman can carry any burden and aren't allowed to cut their hair, training them to fight better even when things are in the way. Before leaving, Yora had always been ditsy and quiet, focusing on minuscule things that weren't important. She didn't focus on her training at all, and because of this was very weak and vunerable. After staying with her clan, she seems to grow up and mature alot, becoming alot stronger. After returning to konoha, Mariko returns shortly after with the ability to use her clan's special moon chakra. He infused her DNA in order to steal her clan's special ability under the order of someone else. The two end up hating eachother, until they were put face-to-face in battle. On a technical side, I had a lot of fun working on this one. I used a new method for coloring that uses actual adjustment layers set to Hue/Saturation, and then underneath those I could paint using grey tones. Setting the eye dropper to Current Layer only, I could paint away without having to worry about the colors... I might post a breakdown of the layers sometime.
I used a photo reference for the general seated pose, but it looked really stiff, and after looking at *Robaato's guide to drawin wimenz, I went over it again.

Anyway... hope you enjoy. And if you don't, sorry for posting all the nudity. I'll do something else next time. Promise.

The costume took 3 months to make and I spent around 2 weeks editing this picture. I wanted to make the costume and model look exactly like the character if she was real. Happy to finally see the set that was taken at ax this year! These shots were taken after the masquerade so i was quite tired, and worse for wear, but i didn't want to miss an opportunity to do a night shoot with my Kirin armor.

You can see the costume a bit better with these shots + my pop-up heart light just cause i wanted that for fun XD!

There's still things i would like to do with this costume before re-wearing, like fixing the fur pelted-skirt, adding some more decorative red stitching, possibly make a new collar, and take in the tube top since my bra keeps being exposed >_<

And I finally have the mullet wig i purchased to use for ax, but it didn't arrive in time, so i'll be def. have that paired with the costume when i re-wear!!

This excerpt sounded very familiar. Hmm.. Why so? As I recount personal memories from my life back in college, I couldn't help but laugh at this one incident that proves just how clumsy I can be. Walking casually I waved at someone i really liked and then tripped. My palms and knees were on the floor. I laughed it off and went straight to the computer as if nothing happened.

Also as I entered high school, I tried my luck at the cheerleading team and passed among many deserving girls who joined the try outs. I had no knowledge about the group and my stunt skills weren't that great. Simply, it was beginner's luck! When I was already part of the team, I was then compelled to learn all the stunts and improve my flexibility on my own. This excerpt sounded very familiar. Hmm.. Why so? As I recount personal memories from my life back in college, I couldn't help but laugh at this one incident that proves just how clumsy I can be. Walking casually I waved at someone i really liked and then tripped. My palms and knees were on the floor. I laughed it off and went straight to the computer as if nothing happened.

Also as I entered high school, I tried my luck at the cheerleading team and passed among many deserving girls who joined the try outs. I had no knowledge about the group and my stunt skills weren't that great. Simply, it was beginner's luck! When I was already part of the team, I was then compelled to learn all the stunts and improve my flexibility on my own. Somewhat like how Yui joined the Light club (music club) and made herself learn the guitar once she was on the team. Hahaha!</sub>

As is illustrated in the Journal, the Sinanju (which I used to write as Shinanju) and Unicorn are some of the snazzier looking mobile suits from the Unicorn Gundam series, with mechanical designs by Hajime Katoki. As one might guess, the MS's in the image are based off the plastic model versions -- which I wholly recommend purchasing if possible. Though I did have some caveats that I totally expected. Katoki's builds tend to have great gimmicky value but at the expense of mobility. This was especially true with the Unicorn, which can transform from it's horned, GM like appearance to the pink frame, much taller standing Unicorn-Destroy, at the price of mobility and pose-ability. The Sinanju which debuted 1 year later as a plastic model is a vast improvement over Katoki's older projects but still suffers a lack of mobility in the torso. For both MS's, the solution was basically to divide the torso sections into separate-but movable pieces. Hence the Unicorn can bend forward at the stomach and chest and the Sinanju can rotate in the same areas. Of course, the glaring error here in Sinanju's case is the hose base at the bottom of the cockpit which is probably supposed to be attached --is... well... not. In the spirit of fun, the Sinanju is slightly changed in the rear boosters which have detail that very passively resembles a resin kit version of the machine.

I tried this out at the end of the Sinanju's texturing stage for my wife, who recently started her new job (in the midst of this economic mess no less). I luv ya, babe!

This was a shot at a long requested "fight scene", but I'm still not happy with the turn-out, thus I consider this a WIP of sorts. A couple of things that didn't turn out and thus forced me to use Photoshop:

• Those damned sparkles from the Unicorns pink psycho-frame


• Thruster flames for all of the thrusters


• 4 beam sabers (had to photoshop 1 and the other is in-freaking visible)


• The Sinanju's Mono-eye... no idea what happened to that little punk

If tl-dr, sorry.


Software: Lightwave (modeling, rendering), Photoshop (UV/planar texturing, throwing everything together)
