Green Peafowl Head

Green peafowl (Pavo muticus). Chinese ink, watercolour and a little gouache on Arches hot pressed paper tinted with tea, 94mm diameter. The full view is larger than the original.

The scan loses something of the original, particularly the subtle, deeper hues in the neck. This not-so-great photograph hopefully gives some idea.

I shared a progress stage earlier here:

Although the word 'peacock' has come to signify both sexes in common usage, it only properly refers to the male. I use 'peafowl' for the bird itself, and 'peacock' and 'peahen' for the male and female respectively.

Unlike the more famous blue peafowl, where the female is startlingly drab by comparison to the male, both sexes of the green peafowl are extremely alike. Apart from obviously lacking the long train of covert feathers, the green peahen is just as beautiful as the cock, with only subtle differences. In the wild and during the moult, it can often be very difficult to tell them apart. Just one of many reasons why I maintain that the green peafowl is always superior to the blue.

A picture for I did as a prize for the Becky contest
He asked for a picture of his two tinies characters Tina and Joanna in the middle of the wilderness to highlight how enormous the surrounding would appear compared to their size.
That picture is a bit special. In the beginning it was basically a third of what it is now. But I kept adding more and more, having lot of fun with it and decided to go a bit crazy with the perspective too XD
The result is... interesting i think. i have never done something like that before There is something vaguely Escher-ish about it i think ^^

Peeta means something very important to Katniss, he symbolizes hope. He is the one who helped her saved her family from starvation by giving her loaves of bread when she was a child.

He is my most favorite character ever! The sweetest, most caring character in the whole book. That's Peeta. And I just love drawing him. This drawing is Peeta is originally taken from my other piece Always , but I got carried away while doing the finishing touches I decided that I would post this piece separately. I added the dandelion in the background, because I think that is the most suitable symbol for him.

I didn't use any reference for this piece, this is purely from my imagination. This is how I imagined Peeta while reading the books. I have another painting of Peeta , but that one is based on a photo of Josh Hutcherson, although I made some changes as well.

I hope you'll like it. Comments and faves are very much appreciated! I would love to hear what you think.

Futuristic Sailor Moon

I recently went to a sketch jam with my buddy, and I sketched out some quick sketches of sailor moon. She's my childhood hero, and it feels good whenever I draw her. Like I'm being a kid again. haha. I guess I'm always a kid at heart, but to draw her ease me up again; to know that art is still for fun.

I wanted to draw her in a more futuristic style. Her suit is almost like an armor, and she's more reserved now (boo no more panty shot. lol). Her bow in the back is actually a hologram. yup! floating through the night like an digital butterfly. I actually like her wearing the mask, because it made more sense than a tiara hiding her identity. lol If you read the manga, Sailor Moon actually had other weapons; like her feather like hair pieces are throwing knives and she had supersonic hair buns. I tried to interpret all of those into a more futuristic look, her hair piece along with her chest piece. Her hair bun weapon before was cool, but I wanted to go against the original look and made it more simplicstic with a red line. Instead of a pretty bow on her chest, it's just in the shape of it. The two hair dangles at the end of her hair are actually to repel enemies from attacking her if she does this: [link] I was going to have her have a hologram skirt, but it didn't fit her silhouette. So here's the final result. I hope you like it!

I had huge difficulties with the light, I know the ropes now with the mono colors but with the rainbow i had no clue how to do it and I had to try 6 times or so to find something that i liked, so i decided to keep it all soft and dreamy

I was able to see some active and lovely Clouded Leopards at the Denver Zoo last month and planned a painting of one of them immediately. I was actually working on this when the press release was issued that Clouded Leopards had been declared extinct in Taiwan. [link]
The species continues to live elsewhere, but their future is anything but clear at this point.
The rock is inspired by stromatolite fossils.
The swirls and background are intentionally distressed.

As Buzz's final moment came before him, he glared into the black abyss, only capturing one last one thing: a promise he made his son:

"I will always protect and watch over you. To infinity and beyond."

Buzz was an all American hero. He worked for the Star Command Army and had been recently promoted to Staff Sgt, leading the young and brave through interstellar wars against the evil alien terrorist, Zurg.

While deep in space, Buzz's ship was pulled into a worm-hole caused by his arch-nemesis Commander Zurg. Buzz tried everything in his power to turn his ship around, but to no avail. At this point, Buzz and his crew only had one option: abandon ship.

As the ship took more damage, the rescue pods began to deplete. Buzz allowed each member to escape as he tried to give them every last minute--until finally, it was too late.

Buzz, and his cruiser, were pulled into the worm-hole, and was never seen or heard from again. Buzz was announced dead by Star Command and the world mourned for the hero that saved over two hundred lives that day. He would leave behind his beloved wife, daughter and son.

However, Buzz did not die that day. He awoke to find himself still trapped into his own ship. All in tact, and still in his suit, he tried to escape but realized he was imprisoned, bound by wires.

This would be the first day of Buzz's new life, cast away into another dimension from Zurg's worm-hole, Buzz was no longer the human he once thought he was.

For now Buzz was wrapped away as an action figure, and on his way to a birthday party for a young boy named Andy.

Buzz's very own son.
